This study aims to evaluate the age of off-odor detection to ensure more efficient and economical provision of antioxidants in the production of Cihateup ducks. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 different treatments of slaughter age, i.e. 4, 8 and 12 week. Each treatment consisted of 6 replications and each replication consisted of 13 ducks. The results showed that the percentage of fat content at the age of 12 weeks was higher than the age of 4 and 8 week. High fat-containing meat tends to undergo fat oxidation. High levels of Fe at 12 week of slaughter age cause high levels of myoglobin in duck meat. Fe2+ is a catalyst in the process of fat oxidation. the brightness value (L) is inversely proportional to the value a of Cihateup duck meat. The darker brightness of the meat causes the flesh to be redder due to myoglobin level in duck meat. The percentage of polyunsaturated fatty acids (ALTJG) is 4- and 12-week slaughter age lower than 8 week of age. The high levels of MDA at 12 week of slaughter age are due to fat oxidation which causes off-odor. Based on the result, the conclusion is that the high fat content, Fe content, color of Cihateup duck meat at 12 weeks of slaughter age caused the percentage of polyunsaturated fatty acids (ALTJG) to be low due to fat oxidation. Fat oxidation caused high levels of MDA in duck meat (12 weeks of slaughter age) resulting in Off-odors in Cihateup duck meat.

Introduction: Sepsis refers to a set of systemic inflammatory responses to infection that cause harmful effects on the human body. Myoglobin can be used as a beneficial marker in determining the status of patients with sepsis. This study aims to investigate the changes in myoglobin and its effect on the severity and outcome of sepsis in the hospital. Methods: In this study, patients were divided into three groups: sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock. Data about their age, gender, myoglobin level in 4 different times (entrance time, 6, 12 and 24 hours later) and sofa index was obtained and compared. Blood culture was taken for all patients and results were evaluated for gram-positive or gram-negative. Results: The patients of the three groups were not significantly different in terms of age (P=0.59) and heart rate (P=0.18). While in terms of myoglobin, there was a significant difference in every 4 times (P=0.00), hospital days (P=0.01), fever (P=0.00), and SOFA (P=0.00) so that with increasing sepsis severity, this Variables rate increased. There is no significant difference in the gender distribution ratio between groups (P>0.05). The highest rate of involvement in each group of patients is related to the respiratory tract. The outcome of patients (survival/death) in different groups is significantly different (P=0.00). A higher percentage of the cultures was gram-negative and the frequency of cultures was not significantly different between different groups. (P-value=0.86). Conclusion: The level of myoglobin measured in patients had an increasing trend. Elevated myoglobin levels were also significantly associated with sepsis and mortality.

A 38-year-old African American woman presenting with acute abdominal pain and nonobstructive renal failure was found to have an enlarged fibroid uterus. A differential for sepsis was considered. Lab evaluation revealed an elevated creatinine and myoglobin level at 3.9 mg/dL and 2140 ng/mL, respectively. Ongoing hemodynamic instability mandated surgery for acute abdomen. A 25 cm fibroid uterus was extirpated through a total abdominal hysterectomy. Immediate improvement of acute nephropathy mirrored the postoperative decline in serum myoglobin levels. Myoglobinemia from a massive degenerating fibroid is associated with nonobstructive acute renal failure.

The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate and compare the relative increase of serum myoglobin level and total creatine kinase(CK) activity in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients (n=36). We measured serial changes in total CK activity and myoglobin serum level in three-time periods (6-9 hours, 24 hours and 6-7 days) from chest pains onset. Myoglobin peaked during the first 6-9 hours but total CK reached its peak activity after 24 hours from AMI symptoms onset. Results of this study showed that as non-specific cardiac marker myoglobin had better sensitivity and earlier rise in serum than total CK activity in AMI patients. Rapid kinetic of myoglobin level is important for its utility as marker for re-infarction diagnosis. Early myoglobin increase in serum is important for early triage of AMI patients and early "ruling out" of AMI diagnosis if there is no evidence of its elevation in circulation.
