[Background]: Improvement of synergies in medical and nursing services can help governments to optimize the allocation of medical resources; however, an appropriate evaluation method is critical for a suitable decision process in this regard. [Method]: To assess the medical and nursing service combination (MNSC) at a regional level, this study applied a five-dimension evaluation index composed of 28 basic response areas related to the MNSC development status in China, determining its respective weight through the Delphi and entropy methods. [Result]: This empirical exercise analyzed the MNSC supply system by interviewing nine heads of medical and nursing institutions and eleven healthcare-related government personnel during August of 2020 in Xinxiang City, Henan province, P.R China. Results showed: (1) public satisfaction with the fees charged by Medical and Nursing service Institutions (MNSI); (2) Medicare and supply services’ policy publicity; (3) the external financing situation of MNSI; (4) the medical staff’s professional quality; (5) the medical facilities and supply of MNSI; and (6) that the recognition level of the development plan of MNSI scored the highest effect on the synergy of MNSC supply among the assessed factors. [Conclusion]: These results showed that an evaluation based on the Delphi and entropy methods can effectively integrate the opinions of experts and related institutions to evaluate synergies on the medical and nursing service supply.

Abstract Academic lectures are potential sources of vocabulary learning for second language learners studying at universities where English is the medium of instruction, as well as those in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programs. Topic-related vocabulary is likely to occur frequently in academic texts, and academic speech consists of a reasonable proportion of frequently occurring sequences of words. Yet no intervention studies have explored the potential for learning single words and collocations through viewing a video of an unmodified academic lecture. To address this gap, this study collected data from 55 EAP learners in China, following a pretest-posttest design. The experimental group (n = 28) watched a video of an academic lecture in which 50 target single words and 19 target collocations were presented while the control group (n = 27) received no treatment. Results show that viewing the lecture led to significant learning gains of single words at the meaning recall level and collocations at the form recognition level. Frequency of occurrence in the lecture appeared to significantly contribute to the learning of single words but not the learning of collocations. Prior knowledge of general vocabulary appeared to make no significant contribution to the learning of single words and collocations.

Background: Studies have shown that public awareness of ovarian cancer is weak, and women are often diagnosed at late stages when treatment is difficult.Design and Methods: To determine the barriers for seeking early medical care and level of knowledge and awareness among women regarding ovarian cancer. A structured questionnaire was designed and adapted from the validated cancer awareness measure. Results: The recognition level of ovarian cancer symptoms among women in this study varied from 12-51%, and the most alarming ones, back pain, eating difficulties, and persistent abdominal pain, were missed by most of the surveyed women. The most recognized ovarian cancer risk factors were never being pregnant, having a history of infertility, and going through menopause, while the least recognized was having personal or family history of breast cancer. Non-UAE nationals’ women with higher educational levels had better knowledge of ovarian cancer compared to their peers. Conclusions: A change or implementation model is highly recommended in order to improve women's awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms. Strengthening education among women with regards to risk factors, early symptoms, and the need to seek early medical help should help to increase ovarian cancer awareness and reduce a delay in the diagnosis.

As plants are vital to the survival of the planet, developing positive attitude towards them is important for protection of plants, biodiversity, and the environment. The aim of this research was to determine the predictors of ninth grade students’ attitude towards plants. In the study, a descriptive correlational design was used. The data were collected from 773 upper-secondary students selected through stratified-purposive sampling. The “Plant Recognition Test” and “Plant Attitude Scale” were used as data collection tools. Multiple regression analysis was performed to determine the way different variables predicted attitude towards plants. The results of research indicated that the linear relationship between predictive variables and attitude towards plants explained 14% of the total variance in attitude towards plants at a significant level. Among the variables, gender, time spent in a garden, involvement in indoor or outdoor cultivation, experience with picking flowers, fruits, and/or vegetables, and plant recognition level had significant contributions to predicting variance in attitude towards plants, and the recognition of plants was determined to be the most important predictor relative to all the other variables. Keywords: descriptive correlational design, plant recognition, secondary education

An approach to the design of learning environments where a social robot plays a role of a teacher is discussed in this study. Built-in robot functionalities provide a degree of situational embodiment, self-explainability, and context-driven interaction. The concept of embodiment enables immersion of the teacher into distant 3D environments. In that way the level of mutual understanding between participants is increased compared to a 2D world. Moreover, the tools that accompany the interaction empower augmentation by revealing the additional information present in gestures, facial expressions, or gaze direction. We use three distinct sources fused in a multimodal approach (face emotion recognition, level of loudness, and body movement intensity). The change in one modality can change the overall system reasoning. The teacher can benefit from this information by adapting a presentation style and achieve a better rapport with students. The theoretical basis is provided by studies of human communication in psycholinguistics and social psychology. Usability evaluation is based on the Wizard of Oz approach, allowing a teacher to interact with students through an interface. The conducted experiments show encouraging responses. Future studies will show in what way and to what extent a cognitive robot can be truly effective in technology-enhanced learning.

Abstract Background:To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics, immunophenotype and differential diagnosis of signet-ring cell carcinoma of gastric pit epithelium. Methods Seven cases of signet-ring cell carcinoma of gastric pit epithelium were studied by histomorphology observation, special staining, immunohistochemical staining and follow-up. Results At the initial stage, the glands proliferated and expanded, and the cells morphologically transformed into signet ring-like atypical cells and then formed clonal hyperplastic signet-ring cell carcinoma, which expanded laterally along the gastric pit, with a length of 3–6 mm. Erosion or mucosal ulcers can be formed on the surface, and the atrophy of fundus or pylorus glands leads to local depression of gastric mucosa. PAS was positive by special staining. Immunophenotype testing included MUC5AC, CKpan, CK20, CEA, villin and CDX2 with positive expression. In cytology, five cell morphologies could be seen: classic, immature, high proliferation, non-nucleus vacuole and degeneration. Three out of seven cases were accompanied by Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection, accounting for 42.9% of the cases. Conclusion The signet-ring cell carcinoma of gastric pit epithelium originates from the proliferative region of the gastric fundus and the neck of gastric gland, which grows laterally along the gastric pit and is easy to be missed and misdiagnosed. Attention should be paid to the differential diagnosis, and the recognition level of signet-ring cell carcinoma of gastric pit epithelium should be improved.

Neural networks have achieved great results in sound recognition, and many different kinds of acoustic features have been tried as the training input for the network. However, there is still doubt about whether a neural network can efficiently extract features from the raw audio signal input. This study improved the raw-signal-input network from other researches using deeper network architectures. The raw signals could be better analyzed in the proposed network. We also presented a discussion of several kinds of network settings, and with the spectrogram-like conversion, our network could reach an accuracy of 73.55% in the open-audio-dataset “Dataset for Environmental Sound Classification 50” (ESC50). This study also proposed a network architecture that could combine different kinds of network feeds with different features. With the help of global pooling, a flexible fusion way was integrated into the network. Our experiment successfully combined two different networks with different audio feature inputs (a raw audio signal and the log-mel spectrum). Using the above settings, the proposed ParallelNet finally reached the accuracy of 81.55% in ESC50, which also reached the recognition level of human beings.
