At the end of 1971 the Government designated the extention of the Community Development Project to the planned total of twelve areas. The project was then described as ‘a national action-research experiment’ carried out in selected urban localities in order to discover ‘how far the social problems experienced by people in a local community can be better understood and resolved through closer co-ordination of all agencies in the social welfare field – central and local government and the voluntary organizations – together with the local people themselves’. There was a special emphasis placed on the importance of ‘citizen involvement and community self-help’, together with the expectation that ‘the lessons learned can be fed back into social policy, planning and administration, both at central and local government level’.

The research asks two questions related to each other. First, why do people who are successful in fields other than politics not want to become more active in politics? Second, what are the preferred characteristics of a political leader? In order to address these questions we conducted an action research involving changes in the patterns of political participation and used Dror’s (2008) model to determine the preferred characteristics of a political leader. The research, the first in its kind in the field of local government field, tried to create professional change and system change. Today, a year after the action research began; it deepens our understanding about how local council members work and allows us to implement changes based on an evaluation process in order to improve the decision-making process in the local government. Eventually, perhaps this process will attract talented people who have previously avoided political participation to engage more with the political process.

This paper presents the action and intellectual agenda for transdisciplinary research at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. The research aims at integrating technological and social science knowledge in a participative effort in enterprise development. It is argued that there are clear similarities between the epistemological foundation of engineering and action research oriented social science. Emphasis is also placed on how the cooperation within the research team and the participative approach to enterprise developments shapes the type of knowledge that is produced.

This research is directed to strengthen the network among the drivers of the Climate Village program in ten RWs in DKI Jakarta. Using collaboration action research, this research uses focus group discussion techniques which are conducted twice in each community. During the FGD twice there was an increase in community network marked by the creation of an organizational structure and work program that had not been made so far. These two outcomes are certainly important for building relationships that are more equal to elements of the local government and also the private sector which tends to impose programs on the community.

Sumbawa District is one of the districts that have a violent figure against the highest children in West Nusa Tenggara province. Based on the P2TP2A data of Sumbawa Regency, the number of cases of violence against children in 2017 amounted to 55 cases and there was an increase in the number of cases of child violence in 2018 IE 66 cases. This is not in line with the policy of the local government of Sumbawa district to create a child-worthy district (KLA). This research aims to identify institutional strengthening and implementation of child rights fulfillment in Sumbawa district. The research method used is participatory action research involving regional device organization (OPD) which has duties and functions in fulfilling children's rights. The result of this action research is that the implementation of child rights can not be done completely by the local government, this is due to institutional capacity has not been adequate because of the weak coordination between OPD and the unavailability of action plans Area (RAD).
