AbstractThis paper presents the results of a survey carried out with students enrolled in the first two years of the BS in Engineering at three Italian university locations. The study is part of a wider range of methods, tools and aids for the improvement of teaching and learning of technical drawing at university level developed by the University of Brescia, Udine, and Cassino and Southern Lazio. In particular, this work analyses the results of questionnaires related to the basic technical drawing outcomes, taking inspiration from previous research work in this field. What emerges is a positive picture that shows students’ interest in 3D CAD modeling topics such as part or assembly construction, but also their interest in more traditional subjects like sketching and dimensioning.

It is hard to imagine learning science without doing laboratory or fieldwork. The research work in this paper assessed the state of physics laboratory teaching and learning resources in some selected universities in the South West geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The survey was carried out in five universities namely The University of Lagos, University of Agriculture, Lagos State University, Olabisi Onabanjo University and Covenant University. An 88-item inventory assessment questionnaire was administered and responses were collated for analysis. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data derived from the study. Findings revealed that there is dearth of modern and specialised physics laboratory equipment/resources; and the obsolete state of most workshops. Inadequacy of the available resources was also observed where some universities combine physics students from the Faculties of Education and Science for most practical sessions. Based on the findings, the study proffers some recommendation that could improve the resource situations in these universities.   Keywords: Physics, laboratory, learning.

The Coronavirus epidemic in Kosovo is having consequences in all spheres of life. This reflection is especially noticeable in teaching and learning, especially at the university level, moving from the classical (traditional) form of teaching fully or partially to e-learning. The necessity of such a rapid transformation and the need to achieve the objectives of studies are being assessed by students in different ways. The subject of this research is how students evaluate this rapid transformation from traditional teaching and learning to e-learning, which was conducted in December 2020. 551 Kosovar Bachelor and Master students participated in the research. The research was done through a survey. The analysis of the results, their comparison leads us to the conclusions and recommendations, information which could serve the university institutions and state decision-making structures for the orientation of educational policies in a new era of digitalization, where e-learning is becoming a necessity even in developing countries. Where work enables us to understand that developments in the field of education, imposed by the epidemic, will be one of the forms of teaching and learning in the future and that for this we must all prepare as individuals and as a society in general.

Purpose of the study: The study aimed to discover the learning strategies of distance learners and their relationship with their intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Methodology: The study followed a quantitative correlational research design. The study sample comprised 550 female and male students enrolled as distance learners at the university level. The tool of learning strategies MSLQ was adopted from Pintrich et al. (1991) and the scale of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation was adopted from Lepper et al. (2005). The data were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Main Findings: The findings of the inquiry concluded that the learning strategies of distance learners were directly associated with both intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. Applications of this study: This study is applicable to assess the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of distance learners enrolled at the university level. Moreover, this study is helpful to understand the relationship between the motivation of learners and their learning styles. Novelty/Originality of this study: Much of the research work has been done in the mainstream education sector, but there is a shortage of empirical data on the relationship between the learning styles of distance learners and their motivation. Thus, this research could be a torchbearer in this area.

The society demands nowadays that the educational models of the institutions at the university level focus in an integral formation developing knowledge, skills and competences. Nevertheless, the systems of evaluation are not necessarily according to the requirements and methods of teaching and learning in the classroom. This investigation describes the effect of implementing a checklist as a medium so that the student acquires knowledge and gives feedback on the process of teaching and learning, promoting the integral formation. The checklist was designed under the socioformative approach and was used as a mean for the formative evaluation and shared during a course of differential and integral calculus. The qualitative investigation of analytical and descriptive type was based on the action-investigation, with students of the Career of Engineering on Communications and Electronics of Instituto Politécnico Nacional. Among the obtained results, it turns out that the students had a better academic performance and a change of attitude towards the learning of the mathematics in engineering, because they can take the control and the regulation of it. Concluding, we can say that the instruments of evaluation constructed under the socioformative approach promote the formative and participative evaluation and are a good way to improve the academic performance of the student and to develop competences like the collaborative work, the resolution of problems and the autonomy in the learning. It becomes necessary to continue the research regarding the design of instruments of formative evaluation as a didactic medium and the roles that the teachers and students must follow in order to promote an integral formation from the socioformative approach.
