Breakthrough curves of CF3Cl on carbon black and of cyclo-hexane on active charcoal have been measured under elution adsorption dynamic conditions. For linear and non-linear adsorption dynamic modes, the experimental data and theoretical results calculated according to the layer of equilibrium adsorption (LEA) model closely coincide.

The splitting effect that is observed in microdiffraction pat-terns of small metallic particles in the size range 50-500 Å can be understood using the dynamical theory of electron diffraction for the case of a crystal containing a finite wedge. For the experimental data we refer to part I of this work in these proceedings.

A dynamic test of two unbonded fully prestressed concrete beams has been conducted. The results indicate that the natural frequency of beams increases with the prestress force, which is opposite to the analytical arguments for homogeneous and isotropic beams subject to axial force. This paper explains the change in frequencies by discussing the change in the elastic modulus. A modified formula is also proposed, and the experimental data agree well with the theoretical analysis.

The adsorption of Pb(II) and Cu(II) onto Fe3O4@Mg2Al-NO3 Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) as a function of Fe3O4@Mg2Al-NO3 LDH concentration was studied. An adsorbent concentration effect ( Cs effect), namely adsorption isotherm declines as adsorbent concentration ( Cs) increases, was observed. The experimental data were fitted to the adsorption models including the classic Freundlich model, the metastable-equilibrium adsorption theory, the flocculation model, the power function model, and the surface component activity model. The results show that the Freundlich-type metastable-equilibrium adsorption equation, the power function model, and the Freundlich-surface component activity equation can adequately describe the Cs effect observed in the batch adsorption tests as all the correlation coefficients ( R2) of the nonlinear plots are higher than 0.96. In other words, their intrinsic parameters simulated from the experimental data are independent of Cs value. It is considered that the Freundlich-surface component activity equation is the best model to describe the Cs effect of the studied adsorption systems by Akaike Information Criterion evaluation criterion.

This work makes a comparative study of two methods to determine deflection in steel beams: (a) Theoretical and (b) Finite element. For method (a) the solution of the differential equation associated with the modeling of the deflection of a beam is found, while for method (b) a simulation is made in Solidworks. Both methods are compared with experimental data in order to analyze which of the methods presents less uncertainty and show the usefulness of the theoretical part in the modeling of physical systems.

ABSTRACTIn this paper we have studied the dia and paramagnetic susceptibilities of the holes in ultrathin films of dilute magnetic materials in the presence of a quantizing magnetic field and compared the same with that of the bulk specimens under magnetic quantization for the purpose of relative comparison. It is found, taking Hg1−xMnxTe and Cd1−xMnxSe as examples, that both the susceptibilities increase with decreasing film thickness and increasing surface concentration in oscillatory Manners. The numerical values of the susceptibilities in ultrathin films of dilute magnetic materials are greater than that of the bulk and the theoretical analysis is in agreement with the experimental data as reported elsewhere.

We present the results of X-ray diagnostics of Z-pinch hot points, formed during fast electrical discharges through exploding Al wires. Experimental data include the pinhole images and X-ray time integrated radiation spectra. These spectra were obtained with high spectral resolution in the range 1.5–2.2 keV, contained the most intensive resonance lines of Al H- and He-like ions. Comparison of the recorded lines width and peak intensities with the corresponding modeled values, enables us to estimate the main hydrodynamical parameters of hot point, such as average temperature and density, being achieved at a moment of its maximum compression. Additionally, on the base of theoretical analysis of the spectral intensities distribution in well-resolved Lyα satellites, the gradient of compression velocities field is concluded. Some features of the investigated lines spectra forming are discussed.
