The increasing demand for global citizenship education and the expansive use of digital technologies for learning create the need for innovative pedagogical approaches and classroom practices. These should encourage active learner engagement and a critical view of the surrounding world, such as, for instance, the role of social networks in young people’s lives, environmental hazards and how human relationships develop nowadays.
In this study we will discuss storytelling in a social network for pedagogy by examining how adolescent (14 and 15 year-old) students from a lower secondary school in Greece experienced knowledge construction, sharing and learning with networked peers from Finland and California in the Boundless Classroom project. To do so, we will analyze the content of student interviews and their digital stories.
As part of their learning activities the participating students from California, Finland and Greece created digital stories and developed traditional (e.g., speaking, writing etc.), digital (e.g., filming, editing, remixing etc.) and networking (e.g., appreciating and responding to projected cultural landscapes) literacies. Importantly, among others, through stories students expressed their views and worries concerning potential dangers of social networking, and what attitudes would reduce environmental risks. It is these student views that we intend to analyze in order to unlock meanings and metaphors underlying pedagogical storytelling that combined the physical (or actual) and the digital site of learning.

This paper examines the role of the media in representing environmental risks to society, focusing on how environmental realities are constructed via the objectivist and subjective perspectives. This study explores the construction of reality centered on space exploration, namely, the Cassini space probe. In this study, 200 respondents were asked to read four news articles from various sources and comment on the information contained in the articles. Their comments addressed the extent to which the articles were useful in helping them assess their risk to potential plutonium exposure in the event of a launch disaster. A large majority of the respondents noted that while the information presented by newspaper coverage helped to provide insight, the news coverage often left more questions than answers. However, respondents also noted that the information was not sufficient to help draw specific conclusions about their risk of toxic exposure. Rather, this information was considered adequate for making a general assessment of potential environmental hazards in their immediate environment.

The article shows the role of digital machine technologies used in feed production. The analysis of intelligent solutions used in the designs of modern balers from the world's leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery is carried out. It is noted that electronic systems not only perform information functions during the operation of forage harvesters, but also provide control over the operation of both individual assemblies and systems of balers, and the entire machine-tractor unit. Digital technologies make it possible to optimize the operation of the forage harvester, improve the quality of harvested forage, reduce environmental risks, improve the working conditions of machine operators, as well as increase the attractiveness and prestige of agricultural professions, and attract promising young personnel to agricultural production.

Therefore, these research aimed to propose the creation and use of didactic-pedagogical resources for teaching Physical Geography. For this, the textbook “Geographical Expeditions” of the 6th year of middle school was analyzed in order to identify gaps in the content. We opted for the analysis of the 6th grade book, because it has, according to the BNCC and the Carioca Curriculum, more content focused on the subject of Physical Geography. According to the Brazilian Common Core Curriculum and the Carioca Curriculum, the 6th grade has more content about physical geography. The pedagogical materials and activities developed were based on the gaps found in the textbook. It was also observed that such content has gaps, such as the lack of integration between themes related to sustainability, socio-environmental risks and soils. It is concluded that the development of playful materials for teaching Physical Geography is a tool that can contribute to meaningful learning. In addition, it was found that recreational activities are important for Physical Geography learning. Keywords Pedagogical resources, Playful materials, Geographic Education, Carioca Curriculum.

Materials such as wood and bamboo in their various applications are subject to degradation by deteriorating organisms like fungi and insects. Chemical treatments are routinely used by bamboo professionals aiming to control this degradation. However, it is usual the dispose of these used solutions on soil and the environmental risks and effects on vegetation of this improper disposal are still unknown. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the phytotoxicity of CCB solutions (compound based on copper, chromium and boron), tetrahydrate sodium octaborate and CB (copper sulfate with boric acid) under different concentrations in the germination and development of lettuce (Lactuca sativa). The pH and electrical conductivity of the prepared solutions were also measured. The results show that the three preservatives are phytotoxic and inhibit root development, even after dilutions of 50 times that used by professionals. Thus, the disposal of these effluents in the soil or water bodies may have negative environmental impacts on vegetation, requiring treatment after use on preservation of the culms or higher dilutions of the effluents before the disposal.

Excitation of acoustic resonance by flow over tube bundles in heat exchangers can cause hazardous levels of acoustic pressure that may pose operational and environmental risks. The previous studies have indicated that inline arrangements of cylinders excite acoustic resonance of a nature different from that of a single cylinder. In this work, the excitation of acoustic resonance by cross-flow around inline arrangements of cylinders is experimentally investigated to identify the role of critical parameters on resonance characteristics. Results show that flow around inline tube bundles can excite acoustic resonance due to periodic flow oscillations over the cavity formed between successive cylinders rather than periodic wake phenomena. Based on precoincidence resonance characteristics, a criterion is introduced to predict the occurrence of acoustic resonance in inline arrangements of cylinders. The proposed parametric criterion does not only identify the potential for resonance excitation for inline arrangements of cylinders experimentally investigated in this work but it also provides a method to separate resonant from nonresonant cases for inline tube bundle data from the literature.
