Abstract In recent years, Singapore made significant reforms towards the establishment of a dedicated family justice system, setting up the Family Justice Courts and enacting new laws to better manage the divorce process and the protection of children. Related policy changes have also been implemented to provide and support families that were previously considered non-traditional and even deviant. Rhetorically, the state, led by the long-ruling People’s Action Party, continues to champion the modern nuclear family with heterosexual marriage at its core as the normal “traditional” form of the family and the bedrock of conservative “Asian values” defining society and politics in Singapore. However, what the judiciary espouse as the new family justice paradigm and the related family justice practices, together with the shifts in social policy towards different family types, are changing the texture of the dominant conservatism rallied by “Asian values” discourse. This article locates and analyses the incipient paradigm shift in the rising pluralism of family forms and the influence of international legal developments in protecting the rights of the child and interventionist family law. By attempting to bridge the Weberian chasm of doing sociology as a vocation and doing politics as a vocation (as an opposition Member of Parliament), I show that the family justice paradigm has opened up the discursive field on the family and produce the politics of ambivalence caught between family justice and Asian family values. I argue for a relational family justice paradigm as a way to move beyond the politics of ambivalence.

Based on a developmental contextual perspective advocated by Vondracek, Lerner, and Schulenberg, this article provides a comprehensive review of the research published since 1980related to family of origin influences on career developmentandoccupational choice. Because individuals are most likely to seek assistance with career decisions from family members, it is important that counseling psychologists understand how families can have a positive influence and facilitate career development. Influential family contextual factors are identified within four developmentallevels (i.e., children, adolescents, college students/young adults, and adults). Across the lifespan, both family structure variables (e.g., parents’ occupations) and family process variables (e.g., warmth, support, attachment, autonomy) were found to influence a host of career constructs; however, the process by which families influence career development is complex and is affected by many contextual factors such as race, gender, and age. Based on this comprehensivereview, implicationsfor counselingresearch andpracticeare discussed.

The intergenerational association of alexithymic characteristics of mothers and their children were examined in a sample of 232 pairs of college students and their mothers. Scores on the Toronto Alexithymia Scale, Parental Bonding Inventory, and the Family Environmental Scale of college students were significantly correlated with their mothers' memories of when they were also 20 years old. College students' scores were significantly correlated with their mothers' scores on each questionnaire. The student-mother pairs were further divided into two family types, nuclear and extended families. Correlations were higher for scores of the nuclear family than for those of the extended family. Such results suggest there may be intergenerational transmission of alexithymia and related factors from mothers to children.

The patterns of interaction between the parents and the child in family triads of high-achieving and low-achieving boys and girls and their parents were compared. Forty family triads were studied. The mean age of the children was 12 yr., 1 mo. Fathers of boys and girls did not differ in over-all dominance in the family process. Parents shared dominance but fathers of boys differed from fathers of girls in how this dominance was applied. Fathers' interactional pattern with their wives was flexible, influenced by the sex and achievement level of the children. These factors influenced fathers' interaction with their children and also mothers' interaction with their husbands. Mothers' behaviour toward their children was influenced by sex but much less so by achievement level. The sex of the child significantly influenced his behaviour toward his mother but the achievement level not to the same extent. In essence, the interaction of the parental pair with their children seemed to be the important factor in achievement.

There is a need experienced by most practitioners of family therapy to impose order and structure upon the considerable range of concepts currently used in the family process approach. This paper suggests a possible structure utilizing five phases which characteristically unfold during the treatment process. The structure provides a rationale so that seemingly divergent techniques of therapy may be seen to be appropriate to particular phases of therapy, rather than mutually contradictory or exclusive. The article further attempts to demonstrate that certain conceptual models and the techniques that arise from them, are called into play depending upon the nature of the family in treatment.

The Process Model of Family Functioning differs from the McMaster Model of Family Functioning and their common source, the Family Categories Schema, by its increased emphasis on the dynamic interaction between the major dimensions of family functioning, and by its stress on the interface between intrapsychic subsystems and the interpersonal dimensions of the family system. A model of family process rather than family structure, it defines six universal criteria of family functioning. It describes the processes involved in each along with the content components and the critical aspects of each. A self-report test developed from the model (FAM-III) is being widely used both as a research tool and as a clinical adjunct. Tests to define its validity and reliability continue.

Nurses as a part of health workers have an important role in changing the patients and families bahavior that able to balance and independence in their self care activities. One of the family functions is to have health care fuctions which is to maintain the family’s condition in order to have high productivity. The purpose of this study is to knowThe differences of self-care agency based on the Dorothea Orem’s Model between Nuclear family and aging couple family types. This research design was usedCross Sectional. The sampling methode usedwas Purposive Sampling. The number of sampling was 30 families which is nuclear family and aging couple family. The independentvariables isself-care agency and the dependent variable are Nuclear family and aging couple family types.Data were collected using questionnaire and analyzed by using Independent t-test with significance level was 0,05. The result showed that the average value of self care agency for nuclear family was 2387,40 while for aging family was 2163. The result of Mann Whitney showed sig. ρ = 0,000 that means ρ

The car industry in Indonesia experienced significant growth. Family car is the highest selling car. This study discusses the effects of Family Types, Family Stages, and Household Conflict on making family car purchase decisions in the City of Kediri. The sample of this study amounted to 96 consumers who had purchased a family car in Kota Kediri. Research data from each variable indicator is processed / tabulated, tested for reliability validity and then processed using SPSS. The results of the t test can be concluded that each dimension of the family types, family stages, and household decision variables significantly influences the purchase decision of the family car. The dimension that most influences the purchase decision of a family car is the Household decision (X3) because the t count is the largest, namely 3,441. Resulting in the significance of significance is the significance value of the F test is 0.00 or less than 0.05 (α = 5%), it can be concluded that the independent variables are Family Types (X1), Family Stages (X2) and Household decision dimensions (X3) together have a significant effect on family car purchase decisions Industri mobil diIndonesia mengalami pertumbuhan yang cukup signifikan.
