AbstractThis article discusses the methodological implications of using written accounts as the primary source of data in qualitative research. Data from a pilot study into family relationships in two families with an anorexic child is presented to illustrate the ways in which this strategy can facilitate the interpretation of different family members' perspectives. Written accounts are shown to be a time-efficient means of gathering good-quality, descriptively rich data. Differences between oral and written modes of communication mean that participants' written accounts are more highly focused and reflective than transcripts from oral interviews, facilitating data analysis and interpretation. Relationships between researchers and researched are more circumscribed than in face-to-face interviewing, which may limit opportunities to explore emergent issues or make informal observations during the interview process. However, the more circumscribed contact between researchers and respondents may also make it easier to manage the complex social dynamics that can emerge when researching families. Whilst written accounts cannot be used as a direct substitute for oral interviews their strengths appear to be undervalued in qualitative research in psychology.

The research objective was to study the implementation of the Wafa method in Al-quran learning at the TKIT Ar-Royyan School of Nature. The Wafa method is an Al-quran learning method by maximizing the functions of the right brain without overriding the left brain which is combined in an interesting and fun way. The characteristic of Wafa's method is to read Al-quran with the strains of the hijaz and learning programs using movements that are in accordance with the verse translation. TKIT Ar-Royyan Nature School is a school that uses the Wafa method. The Wafa method is applied within a 5-year transfer period, previously using the Iqra 'method. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques consist of observation, interviews, documentation. Data analysis techniques used since formulating data, explaining problems before going to the field and continuing to finish the research results. The technique of validating data uses triangulation techniques. The results of the study found that the implementation of the Wafa method used 5P, namely opening, meeting, meeting, meeting. The steps for implementing the Wafa method learning can be applied face to face for ± 60 minutes according to the mastery of the teacher.

Abstract Objective: To clarify nutrient supplementation usage and primary source of information among pregnant women in China. Design: This cross-sectional study used information on nutrient supplementation and primary source of information collected via face-to-face interviews. Data on the usage of folic acid, calcium/vitamin D, iron, vitamins, docosahexaenoic acid, and other dietary supplements were collected. Primary source of information were categorized as family/relatives, friends/co-workers, the Internet, books/magazines, television/radio, doctors, other people, and oneself. Setting: Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Chengdu, China. Participants: 1081 Chinese pregnant women aged ≥ 20 years with singleton pregnancies. Results: In all three trimesters of pregnancy, usage was highest and most stable for folic acid (81.7%), followed by vitamins (vitamin A, B-group vitamins, vitamin C, and multivitamins; 75.0%), whereas calcium/vitamin D (51.4%) and iron (18.1%) usage was low, potentially indicating a deficiency risk. All supplementation usage percentages increased with pregnancy duration (p < 0.05). Notably, approximately 10% of the pregnant women in our study did not use any nutrient supplementation, and this was especially common in early pregnancy. More than 50% of the women reported getting information on nutrient supplementation from family members, and about 30% reported getting this information from doctors. Conclusions: Among pregnant women in China, awareness about nutrient supplementation increases as the pregnancy progresses, but some types of nutrient supplementation (such as calcium/vitamin D and iron) remain at low levels. It is necessary to pay more attention to the health education of pregnant women in China, and the influence of family members should be emphasized.

Qualitative Research: Data Collection & Data Analysis Techniques is especially written for anyone who is interested in doing or learning more about qualitative research methods. The reader-friendly organisation and writing style of the book makes it accessible to everyone-academics,professionals, undergraduates, postgraduates, researchers, and even for those who are just beginning to explore the field of qualitative research. Each chapter provides a clear, contextualized and comprehensive coverage of the main qualitative research methods (interviews, focus groups, observations, diary studies, archival document, and content analysis) and will thus equip readers with a thorough understanding of the steps and skills to undertake qualitative research effectively. Bringing together qualitative research scholars from three different tertiary institutions in the country Associate Prof Dr. Puvensvary Muthiah, Dr. Radziah Abdul Rahim, Puan Noor Hashima Abd Aziz, and Noor Fadhilah Mat Nayan, from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mastura Badzis from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and R. Sivabala Naidu from Darulaman Teacher Training Institute, this book addresses some of the most important questions facing students and researchers in qualitative research

This chapter presents current research insights into various forms and representations of the results of self-as-subject data analyses from both expert and doctoral research experiences. Distinctions between heuristic inquiry and autoethnography are highlighted as well as differences between self-as-subject data analysis approaches when compared with convention methods used within other forms of qualitative research. In self-as-subject research, data representation and data interpretation are often also simultaneous or overlap in presentation to illustrate key findings and insights into the phenomenon of inquiry.
