In modern locomotive design to reduce a dynamic effect upon a track there are widely used jaw and lawless six-wheel bogies supplied with a spring suspension using laminated springs, cylindrical spiral springs of compression and pneumatic springs. A considerable drawback of all known designs of spring suspension for rolling-stock is that all of them apart from a pneumatic one have no possibility for self-regulation in an automatic mode of their rigid characteristics de-pending on external dynamic impacts of track unevenness upon the latter. There is developed in Bunin State University of Yelets a promising inventionleveled structure of an adaptive torsion spring suspension excluding such a drawback and a number of computa-tions was carried out for the substantiation its rational design values.

Based on the results of the analysis of the design solutions of launching and receiver stations of pipeline inspection gauges (pig launchers-receivers) used in process diagnostics and maintenance of main pipelines in Russia and abroad, a number of applied design issues was established. This, in turn, led to the relevance of the issue of optimizing the design of pig launchers and receivers, including the unification of parts used in their manufacture, thereby increasing the share of factory-made products. Decisions were made that provided a comprehensive approach to the issue of improving the operational reliability of this type of equipment - a new design of pig launchers and receivers was developed, which allows to reduce production metal consumption and labor intensity, reduce operating costs, increase constructability and reliability. As part of the solution of this issue, computational and theoretical studies using the SIMULIA Abacus software package were carried out. The reliability of the optimized design is confirmed by the results of durability tests of the pig launcher and receiver prototype with the nominal diameter of the working chamber of DN 1000. A dimension range of advanced designs of pig launchers and receivers with nominal working chamber diameters of DN 150-1200 for use in main oil and petroleum product pipelines was developed.

Issues of operating modes of 4A series asynchronous squirrel-cage motors and AI serried motors at asymmetrical supply voltage for different values of motor shaft load are considered on the basis of simulation using Matlab software package and Simulink package. In the simulation, currents in asynchronous motor phases were evaluated as a function of K2U, KZ, and based on these results, permissible operation parameters were evaluated for induction motors. The results obtained are the basis for technical solutions aimed at improving operational reliability of asynchronous motors, they will allow taking into account permissible operating parameters of asynchronous motors not only in the design, but also in operation in power supply systems of various facilities.

Actualuty of the problem. The effective functioning of water-reclamation systems depends to a large extent on the operational reliability and durability of hydraulic structures. The structural elements of hydraulic structures of water management and reclamation complex from the moment of commissioning are subject to aggressive environmental influences. Aggressive factors (hydrostatic water pressure, alternating freezing and thawing, wetting and drying, corrosive action of salts dissolved in water, dynamic action of ice, etc.) constantly affect concrete structures, gradually destroying them. Therefore, the development of measures aimed at ensuring high resistance of structures to the aggressive environmental factors is relevant. Effective operation of structures with long-term aggressive environmental factors is only possible if they are protected (reinforced) with effective insulating, anticorrosive, high-strength, wear-resistant and cavitation-resistant composite materials. Specific characteristics of polymer and polymer-cement composite materials (high strength, corrosion resistance, frost resistance, adhesion to different coatings) enable to create effective technologies for restoring the functional capacity of hydraulic structures and increasing their stability. The need of reinforcing concrete structures of hydraulic facilities by combining or partially replacing them with modern composite materials and structures made of polymers and polymer cement is determined in view of increasing coolness, reliability and durability of the structures. These materials should be standardized at the stage of design, construction, repair and reconstruction of structures that will ensure their operational reliability and durability in aggressive environment. The development and implementation of technical solutions increasing the operational reliability and durability of hydraulic facilities for water-reclamation purposes while reducing their material and metal intensity are ones of the main areas of scientific research in the field of construction, repair and reconstruction of water-reclamation systems. Achieving high technical and economic performance of hydraulic facilities, taking into account the significant effect of aggressive environmental factors on them is possible using a scientifically sound combination of concrete and reinforced concrete structures with polymer and polymer cement composite materials. The highest level of reliability will be ensured by the structures providing the protection against damage, corrosion and filtration using the latest high performance composite materials. Optimization of technical solutions to increase the operational reliability and durability of hydraulic facilities is only possible provided that modern composite materials properties are comprehensively studied, their compliance with the requirements of water and reclamation construction, taking into account extreme operating conditions, is determined and new efficient technologies for future performance of the facilities are created. Along with expanding the use of polyme and polymer-cement composite materials, finding new varieties of polymer additives and obtaining reliable data on the durability of these materials in different operating conditions will be extended. Results. The Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of NAAS has developed the main technological areas of polymer and polymer-cement composite materials application for increasing the operational reliability of hydraulic structures of water management and reclamation complex: polymeric film screens and geomembranes for increasing the anti-filtration properties; polymer and bitumen-polymer sealants for the arrangement and restoration of deformation joints; polymer and polymer-cement mixtures for structural repairs, restoration of bearing capacity, waterproofing protection, protection against filtration, accidental damage, corrosion, cavitation and actuation of hydraulic structures; concrete polymers, polymer concrete and polymer cement with high physical and mechanical properties for construction, repair and reconstruction of hydraulic structures.

The paper presents a study of the vibrational behaviour of a car suspension in the frequency range from 50 to 200 Hz. The vehicle has a torsion spring suspension. The aim of the study is to provide a numerical approach, which evaluates the impact of the tyre vibration characteristics and the elastic properties of suspension elements on the vibrational behaviour of the “tyre-suspension-body” system. The object of the study are the elements of the suspension – stub-axle, upper and lower suspension arms, strut rod, torsion bar and others. The suspension is equipped with pneumatic tyres with different vibration characteristics. Laboratory experiments are done. The tyre contact patch is disturbed by harmonic force. The accelerations of the wheel axle and specific points of the suspension are obtained. A numerical model of the system is created by using the Finite Element Method available in SolidWorks Simulation software. The model allows to determinate the accelerations at different points of the suspension. The results of the experimental and theoretical studies are compared. The values obtained in the two studies are similar.

The paper presents the results of studies of technical solutions proposed in Kuzbass State Technical University and implemented in auger drilling equipment, characterized by the presence of a cyclic feed of a boring machine on the face and the corresponding reverse of the work by hydraulic jacks. Operation of complexes, which design feature is to provide a common plane for the axis of the boring hole and vectors of axial forces of the auger feeding mechanisms, was researched. The stress state of the cyclic step-feeding mechanism’s functional elements by mathematical and software means of the finite element analysis is considered. The threshold values of the feed forces are determined from the point of view of ensuring the safety margin of welded joints used in the cyclic step-feeding mechanism’s structure, and from the point of operational reliability of the system as a whole. The obtained data allowed making recommendations for further improvement for the subsystem of the auger’s cyclic step-feeding mechanism.

The design scheme of the Zeebrugge Outer Harbour, Belgium, consists of two breakwaters protruding into the sea as far as 1,750 m beyond the existing mole or 3,000 m out from the coastline. The west outer breakwater is 4,280 m long, the east breakwater runs 4,030 m out from the sea-wall. The east outer harbour will accommodate terminals for liquid bulk products such as LNG. The west outer harbour will provide space to install two harbour basins to suit general cargo, hazardous cargo, container and ferry traffic. In the paper emphasis is put on the use of sand in the design of the breakwaters, firstly as part of the foundation by replacing the little resistant top layers by dumped sand, and secondly as part of the core, by dumping sand above the original sea-bottom. In as far as proposed criteria were not fulfilled, the dumped sand had to be compacted. Two methods are discussed : compaction by vibrating needles and compaction using explosives.

A three-section tillage unit has been developed that allows several operations to be performed in one pass: slotting to a depth twice as deep as cultivation, cultivation, crushing the soil and harrowing. At the same time, the grip width of the chopper and harrow of the first and third sections is equal to the width of three cultivating points, and the second base section is five, the operation of the unit with the proposed arrangement of working units improves the quality of the soil treatment. The design of a universal cultivating point of a new sample is presented, containing a chisel located in the bow and slotting machines in the form of two disks with teeth. Using the proposed universal cultivator point of a new sample provides improved soil cultivation by achieving more stable cultivator progress, increasing the unhindered access of irrigation water to the underlying layers of the root zone of plants, improving the water-air regime of the soil environment, increasing the operational reliability of the slotting machine and reducing the consumption of fuels and lubricants to 15 % A promising direction in the development of combined units with removable working units is the creation of combined working units for both sowing seeds, applying mineral fertilizers and herbicides, with the aim of conducting direct sowing of row crops in both dotted and combined ways. The combination of tillage operations with the placement of several working units on one rack allows you to reduce the number of frames in the unit while reducing the metal consumption of the structure by 10 ... 15%, which leads to an increase in the economic efficiency of the tillage unit.
