This paper focuses on creating a virtual model of mechanical gearbox used in medium-sized terrain vehicle using MSC.Adams software. This software is regarded as the most common and effective tool to simulate the gearbox as multibody system and to record and analyse the vibration signal from the gearbox. The paper makes an overview of modelling and simulation and performs an analysis with frequency spectrum. The paper demonstrates that it is possible to simulate vibration signals through the model of the gearbox created in 3D CAD software and then analyse in multi-body dynamics software MSC.Adams. Successful application of the virtual model not only help us decrease the cost of design work, but also help us identify the patterns of the vibration signal and the relations between the signal and the technical condition of the gearbox. The goal is to create a virtual model of a mechanical gearbox. In MSC.Adams, the vibration values of the rotating components can be detected in different gears. These values are then analysed and evaluated. The result is a simulation of fault states and identification of vibration frequencies for practical applications.

The combat vehicle gearbox, during the operation, generates vibration signals being related to the technical condition of gearbox. The analysis of the vibration signal could be used to determine accurately the behaviour of gearbox. Along with the development of the computer technology, the multi-body dynamic solution has been used widely to simulate, analyse, and determine the technical condition of gearbox. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the dynamic model of combat vehicle gearbox, and the simulation process based on the multi-body dynamic software, namely MSC.ADAMS. This proposed model allows the detection of failure conditions of individual gears and bearings in the gearbox. In this way, the fault conditions of the individual transmission components are identified. In the future, we would like to include a material wear module in the model, and we would like to model the life of the gearbox. We assume that we would also carry out accelerated tests of the gearbox to verify validity.

The motion of amplification frame of dumper was simulated by multi-body dynamics simulation software ADAMS, and the danger working conditions of amplification frame were calculated. The stress of amplification frame was simulated and analyzed by Optistruct software. The results show that the stress distribution in amplification frame is not uniform and it is big in the middle and small in the edge zeros. The structure of amplification is optimized according to the simulation results. The utilization ratio of the material increases and the cost of production decreases after structural optimization.

Vehicle’s gearbox is regarded as one of the most crucial elements in a vehicle but it sustains a variety of faults such as a broken tooth, misalignment, imbalance, looseness, and even a broken case. Using accelerometers, which are mounted on the case to measure a vibration signal, we can detect faults and monitor the condition but the signals are often complicated and difficult to interpret. Moreover, it is costly and almost impossible to change the structure of a gearbox in order to survey, for instance, the dependence of a vibration signal on the structure, or types of a fault. In this paper a dynamic model of gearbox was developed with tooth breakage to study the capability of simulation using MSC.Adams software. In this simulation we focus on the gearbox used in a common military vehicle. The simulation was based on a nonlinear contact force to predict what happens to the gearbox in case the tooth breaks. The contact mechanics model of the meshing teeth is studied thoroughly by selecting contact simulation parameters such as stiffness, force exponent, damping and friction coefficients. To simulate the real working environment of the gearbox, simulated bearings were also built in the MSC.Adams. The paper shows that it is possible to simulate vibration signals by the gearbox model created in 3D CAD software and analyze the results in the multi‑body dynamics software MSC.Adams.

To optimize the learning process of working methods and the study of diagnostic equipment, it is advisable to use virtual simulators that simulate the process. The created virtual model vKAD-400 reproduces almost all the actions performed by the master diagnostician in determining the technical condition of a diesel engine. In the process of modeling using the editor, the algorithm of the "Diesel-Diagnostics" program was developed using the method of digitizing existing waveforms. Using the computer program "Diesel-Diagnostics" will reduce the cost of training students and technical personnel.

Planetary gearboxes are widely used in helicopters, wind turbines, mining machinery, and so forth. The structure and motion type of a planetary gearbox are more complex in comparison with a fixed-shaft one, which makes condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of planetary gearbox a challenging issue in practical applications. In order to understand the fundamental nature of planetary gearbox vibration, this paper conducts an investigation on vibration characteristics of a single-stage planetary gearbox. Assuming that the gearbox and the sensor revolve inversely at the speed of planet carrier, the problem can be transformed into two easier parts: research on fixed-shaft gearbox signal model and research on influence of sensor spinning. Based on this assumption, a vibration signal model of planetary gearbox is obtained. Experimental data are used to validate the model.

One-solving methods and techniques necessary to avoid inefficiencies and not economic costs as well as reduce the cost of housing construction is the method of Value Engineering. Value engineering is a method and cost control techniques to analyze a function to its value at the lowest cost alternative (most economical) without reducing the quality desired.At the writing of this study used a comparison method by comparing the initial design to the design proposal of the author. In the housing projects Upgrading Tirto Penataran Asri type 70, the application of Value Engineering conducted on the job a couple walls and roofs pair by replacing some work items with a more economical alternative but does not change the original function and high aesthetic level and still qualify safe. For that performed the step of determining a work item, the alternative stage, the analysis stage, and the stage of recommendations to get a Value Engineering application and cost savings against the wall a couple of work items and partner roof.The proposed design as compared to the initial design. Work items discussed was the work of a couple wall having analyzed obtained savings of Rp. 2,747,643.56 and the work of the roof pair obtained savings of Rp. 2,363,446.80. Thus the total overall savings gained is Rp 5,111,090.36 or savings of 0048%.

This paper discusses the method used to identify the process involving fatigue cracking of samples on the basis of selected vibration signal characteristics. Acceleration of vibrations has been chosen as a diagnostic signal in the analysis of sample cross section. Signal characteristics in form of change in vibration amplitudes and corresponding changes in FFT spectrum have been indicated for the acceleration. The tests were performed on a designed setup, where destruction process was caused by the force of inertia of the sample. Based on the conducted tests, it was found that the demonstrated sample structure change identification method may be applied to identify the technical condition of the structure in the aspect of loss of its continuity and its properties (e.g.: mechanical and fatigue cracks). The vibration analysis results have been verified by penetration and visual methods, using a scanning electron microscope.

Soft robotic actuators are now being used in practical applications; however, they are often limited to open-loop control that relies on the inherent compliance of the actuator. Achieving human-like manipulation and grasping with soft robotic actuators requires at least some form of sensing, which often comes at the cost of complex fabrication and purposefully built sensor structures. In this paper, we utilize the actuating fluid itself as a sensing medium to achieve high-fidelity proprioception in a soft actuator. As our sensors are somewhat unstructured, their readings are difficult to interpret using linear models. We therefore present a proof of concept of a method for deriving the pose of the soft actuator using recurrent neural networks. We present the experimental setup and our learned state estimator to show that our method is viable for achieving proprioception and is also robust to common sensor failures.

Many desirable characteristics of polymers arise from the method of polymerization and structural features of their repeat units, which typically are responsible for the polymer’s performance at the cost of processability. While linear alternatives are popular, polymers composed of cyclic repeat units across their backbones have generally been shown to exhibit higher optical transparency, lower water absorption, and higher glass transition temperatures. These specifically include polymers built with either substituted alicyclic structures or aromatic rings, or both. In this review article, we highlight two useful ring-forming polymer groups, perfluorocyclobutyl (PFCB) aryl ether polymers and ortho-diynylarene- (ODA) based thermosets, both demonstrating outstanding thermal stability, chemical resistance, mechanical integrity, and improved processability. Different synthetic routes (with emphasis on ring-forming polymerization) and properties for these polymers are discussed, followed by their relevant applications in a wide range of aspects.

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were conducted to investigate the interactions between a palygorskite coating and linear chain alkanes (dodecane C12, tetradecane C14, hexadecane C16, and octadecane C18), representing base oils in this study. The simulation models were built by placing the alkane molecules on the surface of the palygorskite coating. These systems were annealed and geometrically optimized to obtain the corresponding stable configurations, followed by the analysis of the structural changes occurring during the MD process. The interfacial interaction energies, mean square displacements, and self-diffusion coefficients of the systems were evaluated to characterize the interactions between base lubricant molecules and palygorskite coating. It was found that the alkanes exhibited self-arrangement ability after equilibrium. The interfacial interaction was attractive, and the electrostatic energy was the main component of the binding energy. The chain length of the linear alkanes had a significant impact on the intensity of the interfacial interactions and the molecular diffusion behavior. Moreover, the C12 molecule exhibited higher self-diffusion coefficient values than C14, C16 and C18. Therefore, it could be the best candidate to form an orderliness and stable lubricant film on the surface of the palygorskite coating. The present work provides new insight into the optimization of the structure and composition of coatings and lubricants, which will guide the experimental development of these systems for practical applications.
