In recent decades, the need to theorize and practise innovation has become apparent to many domestic and foreign companies. The process of introducing innovation mechanisms differs from company to company. Businesses and innovation theory experts do not yet agree on the methodology for implementing innovation effectively. The increasingly competitive environment of the world encouraged many companies to move towards innovative development. Innovation became an important tool for sustainable development for many companies in an unstable and rapidly changing external environment. Innovation is used to create a new product or develop a process to increase a company’s profits and strengthen its market position. The term “innovation” has a different understanding today, depending on the area of application: firms or sectors. The article examines the theoretical concepts of innovation.

Innovation is today condition sine qua non for any company that wants to survive in a competitive environment. It is important for the company to know the changes in the market more deeply: in the expectations of the customers, aiming to adapt its products to these changes, innovating both the portfolio and the processes, and therefore seeking better results. In this sense, it is imperative to include in the company's strategy the information management, which maximize the chance to provide correct information to the managers, at the right moment, subsidizing their actions. This chapter aims to present how the information management is inserted in the context of the organizations' innovation management. To this end, it will present theoretical concepts and models that allow managers to implement effective information management, searching better operational results.

A high dependence on imports is observed in the segment of forest machine- building products. The volume of production of logging machines and woodworking equipment remains insufficient – both in terms of the number of manufactured equipment and its consumer properties. The main problem of domestic mechanical engineering remains low competitiveness in relation to products manufactured by leading foreign companies. The lack of competitiveness of the domestic forest machine building is largely due to the lack of funds for the technical and technological renewal of production at the majority of enterprises. Sectoral research institutes, previously engaged in the development of technologies and equipment for timber industry enterprises and companies, have practically ceased their scientific and design activities. In these conditions, the innovative development of the timber industry complex is mainly carried out on the basis of the acquisition of imported equipment. The share of imported machinery and equipment of domestic production is more than 90 percent. The solution to this problem requires serious systemic measures in the implementation of technical policy in the forestry sector of the country’s economy. The strategy for the development of the forestry complex until 2030 provides for the creation of at least 3 research consortia – innovative and technical centers corresponding to the world level, on the basis of which the coordination of scientific research, the creation of technologies and equipment for logging, woodworking and the production of pulp and paper products. The article formulates a number of proposals on measures of state support for the domestic forest machine building.

Research of modern processes of ensuring reliability of innovative development become more and more actual recently as more and more often the organizations should make decisions in the conditions of the growing uncertainty. This creates the need for new approaches in the study of management of innovative reliability of economic systems and their search for new mechanisms and tools to achieve it. According to the authors, one of the tools of such management in modern conditions can be structural and functional survivability. It can be used to determine the most effective innovative projects for organizations, taking into account their internal characteristics and the specifics of changes in the external environment. In addition, the dynamics of the values of this integral indicator allows us to assess the effectiveness of management decisions, allowing us to consider it a regulator in the model of innovation management of economic systems. This model, along with internal factors, assumes some change in the existing insitutional environment. It is proposed to implement it on the basis of the principles of open innovation, in order to increase the efficiency and security of innovative development of modern companies.

The need to form mechanisms for ensuring the sustainable functioning and development of regional economic systems causes a change in the forms of organization and integration of production on an innovative basis. This is becoming a priority task in conducting scientific research in the field of organizing the activity of territorial-spatial entities (TSE), assessing and monitoring the sustainability of their development in a strategic terms. At the same time, this can be realized only by determining the vector of sustainability in the presence of risk factors of the external environment and development trends of both TSE and the region’s economy as a whole. In this regard, in the article, in the context of the innovative development of regional economic systems, the conceptual foundations of ensuring the sustainability of territorial-spatial entities are considered as forms of the integration of industries, focused on the creation of innovation of the value of products (services).

The purpose of the article is to substantiate the theoretical concepts and methodological bases for assessing the level of enterprise viability. Research methods. The basis to the formation of theoretical and methodological principles for assessing the viability of enterprises was a systematic approach. In the process of the research the dialectical means of perceiving the processes and phenomena were used, as well as the method of analysis (to determine the components of enterprise viability and relationships between them), the comparative method (to identify the common and different in the existing methods of assessing enterprise viability), the graphical method (to build a model of enterprise viability on the basis of sustainable development), the method of generalization (describing the stages of assessing the enterprise viability), the abstract-logical method (theoretical generalizations and formulation of conclusions). Research results. Based on the principles of sustainable development, the main three areas of the enterprise interaction with the external environment for the formation of its viability are identified: economic, social and environmental. Based on the analysis of existing approaches to assessing the enterprise viability, the main directions for assessing the viability are suggested, depending on the scope of interaction between the enterprise and the external environment. The stages of assessing the enterprise viability have been formed. Scientific novelty. The methodological bases for assessing the level of enterprise viability based on evaluating the stability of internal subsystems of the enterprise, its corporate culture, relations with internal and external partners, as well as environmental safety have been improved. Practical significance. The proposed methodological guidelines will help systematically and comprehensively assess the enterprise viability in terms of its internal and external environments, and will make it possible to perform a comparative analysis of the enterprise viability in the dynamics of a number of years or for different enterprises between them. Throughout history the development of the countries has been generated mainly by the impulse in two complementary axes: Science and Technology, and Trade. At present we are experiencing an exponential scientific and technological development and the Economy in all its fronts is driven by the intensive application of technology. According to these considerations, this research tries to expose the development of Innovation Management as a transversal mechanism to promote the different socioeconomic areas and especially those supported by engineering. To this end, use will be made of Technology Watch in order to identify the advances of the main research centres related to innovation in the world. Next, there will be an evaluation of the main models of Innovation Management and related methodologies that expose some of the existing Innovation Observatories in the world to finally make a proposal for Innovation Management applicable to the reality of Peru, so that it can be taken into consideration by stakeholders (Government, Academy, Business and Civil Society) committed to Innovation Management in the country
