Research background: Communication of non-profit organizations is one of the key activities in the conditions of this type of organizations, because through flexible communication, non-profit organizations can function effectively in today’s global society, based on modern information and communication technologies. In 2020, there was a change in communication with non-profit organizations in the environment of the Slovak Republic, through the establishment of electronic mailboxes. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to analyse a new way of communication of non-profit organizations, which results from the new legislation, which was adopted under Slovakia in 2020 and came into force on June 1, 2020, when the state gradually established and activated for electronic mailbox delivery for individual non-profit entity. Methods: Analytical methods were used in the article in order to evaluate the suitability of electronic mailboxes and their benefits in the environment of non-profit organizations. We work with the hypothesis that this method of communication will bring significant changes for the non-profit sector in the form of benefits, which will eliminate the obstacles that were present in the postal communication and will speed up the mutual exchange of information. Findings & Value added: The year 2020 thus brought a change in electronic mailboxes and Slovakia introduced the establishment of these mailboxes for non-profit organizations as well. Based on the obligation of non-profit organizations and its deeper analysis, we identify the advantages and disadvantages that result from this method of communication and evaluate their contribution for the practice of non-profit organizations.

The global use of information and communication technologies encourages the development and implementation of new digital methods in social work with young people. Digital innovations are becoming not only a source of youth empowerment but also an information resource that helps to reduce the distance between the needs of young people and the institution of social work. The article discusses the current state and prospects of social work with young people in the era of the digital society. The research focuses on reviewing existing digital technologies with young people, determining the limitations of using information and communication technologies in the social sphere, identifying the actual risks of digitalization in social work with young people, and determining the degree of involvement of young people in digital social work. The design of the study is based on the case study method for digitalization processes in non-profit organizations with a social orientation in St. Petersburg, including methods of semi-structured expert interviews (N=11), focus groups (N=4) and document analysis. The study showed an active process of youth mobilization in the activities of socially oriented non-profit organizations as the creator of a digital project. The analysis of NGO’s activities demonstrated the difficulty of transposing quantitative indicators for evaluating the effectiveness of information and communication technologies in social work with young people into socio-psychological indicators. The author concludes that the key task of successful implementation of digital technologies in social work with young people is the need for interdisciplinary interaction and cross-sectoral cooperation, involvement of social enterprises to participate in the development of digital social projects, and training of professionals in social services in the implementation of digital practices.

We present findings from interviews with 23 individuals affiliated with non-profit organizations (NPOs) to understand how they deploy information and communication technologies (ICTs) in their civic engagement efforts. Existing research about NPO ICT use is often critical, but we did not find evidence that NPOs fail to use tools effectively. Rather, we detail how NPOs assemble various ICTs to create infrastructures that align with their values. Overall, we find that existing theories about technology choice (e.g., task-technology fit, uses and gratifications) do not explain the assemblages NPOs describe. We argue that the infrastructures they fashion can be explained through the lens of moral economies rather than utility. Together, the rhetorics of infrastructure and moral economies capture the motivations and constraints our participants expressed and challenge how prevailing theories of ICT use describe the non-profit landscape.

Nowadays, information and communication technologies (ICT) are being used in the mental health field to improve the quality of the services provided. Several studies refer both advantages and disadvantages for these practices. E-therapy appears as a new way to help people in their life and existing relationships, and there is proven evidence that online therapy helps, for instance, to reduce depression symptoms. It is also seen as a complement of the technological and traditional techniques, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the therapeutic process. As a matter of fact, some people tend to be more comfortable with the computer than in face-to-face therapy. Besides patients and physicians, other direct players could be found in this domain, namely, families and caregivers. All players will be directly affected by the use of existing services and thus, a correct assessment of the effectiveness of e-therapy solutions and studies is required. eSchi is a multimedia portal that enables an e-therapy setting for schizophrenia patients. Currently under development, the system is described and future trends in the area are depicted.

Academic science, research and technology companies are currently working intensively on the possibilities of using cutting-edge information and communication technologies in practice. An example of the much-needed deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is energy. This sector of the national economy requires the monitoring of large line and area objects at regular intervals in order to analyse the state of wear and damage of energy equipment. The Slovak Republic, as a modern European country, is working very intensively on the implementation of all available modern technologies in the energy sector. The text of the chapter aims to present and describe the current state of practical use of drones in the energy infrastructure in Slovakia.

Computer literacy affects all areas of human life, and our subsequent control is almost inevitable nowadays. Due to the rapid growth of scientific knowledge and development of information and communication technologies, significant changes are taking place in individual countries. New technologies are coming to the fore through which there is an increase in country's economy, employment as well as labor productivity. To some extent, this fact is influenced by the ability of basic computer skills. This aspect is also important in terms of regional development at the national, regional and local level. The aim of the paper is to characterize selected indicator of computer literacy - internet work at three levels of Slovakia (state, district and municipality). The paper will be based by data from the Statistical Office of the European Union and Statistical Office of the Slovak republic. The methods of analysis, synthesis as well as graphical and cartographic methods will be the main methods used in the paper. Based on the achieved results, it can be stated that Slovakia achieved an average of 51.4 % in the development of internet use. It is very just above the EU average. At the regional level, the highest rate of internet use is manifested in the western part of Slovakia. At the local level in the case of the Nitra district, the internet was mostly used in the hinterland of the city of Nitra.

Information and communication technologies have revolutionized the world as we knew it before its use and applicability to daily life. This use has also moved to the educational field and has transformed the way it is learned and taught today. In the midst of this panorama, Massive Online Open Courses emerge as an opportunity available for everyone to learn, which has caused many changes in the educational field. This study is presented as an investigation into innovative university practices to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of these MOOCs in the Higher Education environment. Among the main advantages analyzed, we highlight its gratuity, the establishment of collaboration networks and time flexibility, while among the disadvantages we can highlight the abandonment, that some courses are not adapted or available for easy devices or lack of follow-up. The main idea is that once the advantages and disadvantages of MOOCs are known, the former should be encouraged, given the great benefits they entail for education; and in turn try to solve the disadvantages that have been seen that lead to the use of MOOCs, in order to promote the effectiveness of their use.
