Teaching and learning of human anatomy involves cadavers, bones, histology slides, plastinated body parts, anatomy models, visualizing pictures, drawing and memorizing many new Latin terminologies. It is very challenging for faculty members to teach and difficult to learn for any year one student doing medical or health science courses. This paper provides an insight into the use of a blended learning pedagogy using Computer Based Teaching [CBT] along with other tools to create e-Leaming materials for teaching and learning of human Anatomy with better learning outcomes. We focus on four CBTs developed in-house for blended learning by the biological sciences department, namely HistoBox, BoneBox, Heart & Coronary Artery Disease [CAD] and Neuro atlas for Anatomy and Physiology. The survey result on students learning using CBTs showed significant improvements in their learning behavior and assessment grades. The students preferred blended e-Leaming using HistoBox compared with traditional lecture and practical using microscopy, p<0.001. Our student survey revealed that 93% of the students agreed that the BoneBox CBT helped them to understand and learn the subj ects better than the traditional methods. About 88% of the students also agreed that the BoneBox used in blended learning helped them to improve in their practical test grades. 98% of the students rated the BoneBox CBT pedagogy as good and excellent approach for learning with interactive features. The case-scenarios and assessment quizzes used in the CBT improved the higher order critical thinking skills. One interesting finding of the survey showed that students preferred interactive quizzes and assessment tools than game based learning activity. The tools used in our blended learning are YouTube videos, e-books, mobile apps, kahoot, socrative, padiet and articulate storyline2. We use these tools for both synchronous and asynchronous learning activities. Most of the online learning materials are administered online using the “Blackboard” learning management system [LMS]. The department of biological science over time gradually moved away from the traditional 100% face-to-face classroom teaching to at least 30% of online blended learning methods using the CBTs and other e-Leaming materials. We compared the student module evaluation feedback and the students’ performance grade over the past 12 years and found that the use of blended e-Leaming has improved our student module delivery rating and student performance grades. Our module delivery ratings improved from 92.6% in 2004 to 96.4% in 2010 and finally to 99.85% in 2016 There is also a corresponding drop in student failure rates from 14.1% in 2004 to 8.5% in 2010 and finally to about 1.3% in 2016. We propose the use of blended learning pedagogy for teaching and learning Anatomy over traditional 100% face-to-face teaching to improve module delivery and students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract This article presents the experiences and results of using a simple learning design for transforming a traditional, large-scale, face-to-face science module in calculus into blended learning where all face-to-face lectures were replaced by webcasts and online activities. The article presents the impact on teaching and learning in terms of how the teacher and the students used the materials and the impact on the students’ performance and satisfaction. The article concludes that replacing face-to-face lectures with webcasts and online activities has the potential to improve learning in terms of a better student performance, higher student satisfaction, and a higher degree of flexibility for the students. In addition, the article discusses implications of using learning design for educational development, how learning design may help breaking with the perception that facilitating blended learning is a daunting process, and, ultimately, its potential for addressing some of the grand challenges in science education and the political agenda of today

BACKGROUND: Academic courses of human anatomy need to be reviewed periodically by students to ensure better learning outcomes, especially when the teaching process became internet-dependent during the pandemic. AIM: Our study aims to explore pharmacy students’ opinions concerning the theoretical and practical elements of the anatomy course taught in the College of Pharmacy at Al-Rafidain University. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The ethical committee of the College of Pharmacy at Al-Rafidain University approved the study. We prepared a questionnaire (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.735) to evaluate the positive and negative aspects of the teaching process. The questionnaire was presented as an online survey to pharmacy students (n = 305) who finished their anatomy course in two learning modalities, Internet-based learning (n1 = 105, 34.43%) and blended learning (BL) (n2 = 200, 65.57%). RESULTS: Participants of both groups were satisfied with the syllabus, using internet-based materials, and problem-based learning concerning the theoretical aspect of the course. Concerning practical knowledge, both groups preferred using cadavers instead of dummies, and they verified the beneficial effect of online educational materials and computer-based applications. Pharmacy students demanded more than one anatomy course, while students from the BL group considered the anatomy course duration insufficient. Concerning the practical knowledge, students’ marks were superior for students using BL, and the opposite was the case with theoretical knowledge. CONCLUSIONS: BL is favored by Iraqi undergraduate pharmacy students; perhaps, it is attributed to the lively interaction between students and the teaching staff. We conclude that internet resources can be supportive of the classical teaching of anatomy.

The main priority of providing education during Covid-19 pandemic to prioritize health and safety of students, educators, education staff, families, and the community in general, as well as considering the growth of the students and their psycho social conditions. The continuity of teaching and learning process that is not carried out in the school has potential to have a long lasting negative impact. Anticipating the negative consequences and issues of distance learning, SMA Negeri 1 Kota Depok, according to government guidelines, has implemented two new policies for limited Face-to-face learning and an emergency curriculum ( under special conditions). During the Covid-19 pandemic, online and offline learning must be done side by side. On the other hand the student learning outcomes are expected have good final result. The writer conducted Classroom Action Research as an effort to improve students' learning outcomes during the Covid-19 pandemic by using Blended Learning method which combine Face-to face learning method with distance learning. Based on the cycle 1 and cycle 2, there were found that Blended learning can improve students' learning outcomes in Mathematics subject for 12 graders of Science subject at SMAN 1 Kota Depok. ABSTRAKPrioritas utama penyelenggaraan pendidikan pada masa pandemi Covid–19 adalah untuk mengutamakan kesehatan dan keselamatan peserta didik, pendidik, tenaga kependidikan, keluarga, dan masyarakat secara umum, serta mempertimbangkan tumbuh kembang peserta didik dan kondisi psikososial. Kelangsungan belajar mengajar yang tidak dilakukan di sekolah berpotensi menimbulkan dampak negatif yang berkepanjangan. Mengantisipasi konsekuensi negatif dan isu dari pembelajaran jarak jauh, SMA Negeri 1 Kota Depok sesuai panduan pemerintah mengimplementasikan dua kebijakan baru Pembelajaran Tatap Muka Terbatas dan Kurikulum darurat (dalam kondisi khusus). Pada masa pandemi Covid–19 mengharuskan mengharuskan pembelajaran daring dan luring berjalan beriringan. Di sisi lain hasil belajar siswa yang diperoleh diharapkan tetap baik. Penulis melakukan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar pada masa pandemi Covid–19 dengan menggunakan pembelajaran Campuran (Blended Learning) yang mengkombinasikan metode pembelajaran tatap muka dengan pembelajaran jarak jauh. Berdasarkan hasil temuan pada siklus I dan siklus II ternyata pembelajaran Campuran (Blended Learning) dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika Kelas XII IPA di SMAN 1 Kota Depok.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dan kegiatan belajar siswa pendidikan fisika dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah (PBM) dengan metode blended learning. Metode blended learning diterapkan dengan mengintegrasikan pembelajaran tatap muka dengan pembelajaran online ke dalam sintaks pembelajaran PBM (langkah). Bentuk pembelajaran tatap muka dilakukan di dalam kelas, sedangkan bentuk pembelajaran online dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan fasilitas internet dan forum diskusi kelas online. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Studi ini akan direncanakan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahap: perencanaan, melakukan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester 1 fisika yang mengambil mata pelajaran biologi dasar dan dosen mata kuliah. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah lembar tes berpikir kritis dan lembar observasi. Data hasil tes dilakukan dengan menghitung persentase berpikir kritis dan menentukan kriteria. Data kegiatan belajar yang diamati juga dihitung menggunakan rentang nilai yang muncul dan menentukan kriteria. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada siklus I adalah 52,12% (cukup kritis), sedangkan pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 63,27% (kritis). Kegiatan mengajar dosen pada siklus I dan siklus II adalah sama yaitu 36 (kategori baik). Aktivitas belajar siswa pada siklus I adalah 35 (kategori baik) dan pada siklus II yaitu 34 (kategori baik). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan pembelajaran berbasis pembelajaran (PBM) menggunakan metode blended learning dapat meningkatkan berpikir kritis dan aktivitas belajar siswa pendidikan jasmani dalam mata pelajaran biologi dasar.   This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills and learning activities of physics education students by applying problem-based learning model (PBM) with blended learning method. The blended learning method is applied by integrating face-to-face learning with online learning into the PBM learning syntax (step). Form of face-to-face learning is done in the classroom, while the form of online learning is done by utilizing internet facilities and online class discussion forums. The type of research is classroom action research (PTK) with quantitative descriptive research method. This study will be planned in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, doing, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research are physics semester 1 students who take basic biology subject and lecturer of course subject. Instruments used to collect data are critical thinking test sheets and observation sheets. The test result data is done by calculating the percentage of critical thinking and determining the criteria. The observed data of learning activity is also calculated using the range of values ​​that appear and determine the criteria. The results showed that the percentage of critical thinking skills of students in the first cycle is 52.12% (quite critical), while in cycle II increased to 63.27% (critical). The teaching activities of lecturers in cycle I and cycle II are the same is 36 (good category). Student learning activity in cycle I is 35 (good category) and on cycle II that is 34 (good category). The conclusion of this research is application of learning based learning (PBM) using blended learning method can improve critical thinking and student learning activities physical education in basic biology subject.

This paper describes the conversion of an introductory computing course to the blended learning model at a small, public liberal arts college. Blended learning significantly reduces face-to-face instruction by incorporating rich, online learning experiences. To assess the impact of blended learning on students, survey data was collected at the midpoint and end of semester, and student performance on the final exam was compared in traditional and blended learning sections. To capture faculty perspectives on teaching blended learning courses, written reflections and discussions from faculty teaching blended learning sections were analyzed. Results indicate that student performance in the traditional and blended learning sections of the course were comparable and that students reported high levels of interaction with their instructor. Faculty teaching the course share insights on transitioning to the blended learning format.

<span>In this paper, we share two blended learning approaches used at the National Institute of Education in Singapore. We have been using these two approaches in the last twelve years in many courses ranging from the diploma to graduate programs. For the first blended learning approach, we integrated one asynchronous communication tool with face to face tutorials, classroom discussions, and a reflection session. For the second blended learning approach, we integrated two asynchronous tools with face to face tutorials in a course. We discuss the theoretical foundation of the two blended learning approaches. In addition, we share insights from these two blended learning approaches, based on the students' data (online postings, questionnaires, reflection logs, and interviews), as well as our own reflections. Finally, we describe and discuss several important lessons learned that could inform the design of future instructional strategies in implementing blended learning in university teaching and learning settings.</span>

Making material available through learning management systems is standard practice in most universities, but this is generally seen as an adjunct to the ‘real’ teaching, that takes place in face-to-face classes. Lecture attendance is poor, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to engage students, both in the material being taught and campus life. This paper describes the redevelopment of a large course in scientific practice and communication that is compulsory for all science students studying at our Melbourne and Malaysian campuses, or by distance education. Working with an educational designer, a blended learning methodology was developed, converting the environment provided by the learning management system into a teaching space, rather than a filing system. To ensure focus, topics are clustered into themes with a ‘question of the week’, a pre-class stimulus and follow up activities. The content of the course did not change, but by restructuring the delivery using educationally relevant design techniques, the content was contextualised resulting in an integrated learning experience. Students are more engaged intellectually, and lecture attendance has improved. The approach we describe here is a simple and effective approach to bringing this university’s teaching and learning into the 21st century.

ABSTRACT The COVID 19 pandemic has demanded that people adapt to a new normal life, including theeducation sector. This condition is a challenge for schools and the community. To avoid thewidespread spread of the Covid-19 virus, schools must temporarily stop face-to-face learningactivities. The blended learning method is a solution to these conditions. Blended learningactivities are not only seen as a combination of online and face-to-face learning. However,this learning activity has a great opportunity to integrate innovation in educationaltechnology and can be done online or face-to-face. Besides, blended learning is a solution toanswering challenges in assembling learning and developing students' creativity. Even in thelong term, blended learning is an important requirement for every school to face a brighterfuture. The implementation method in this program consists of the planning, implementation,and evaluation stages. The partners involved in this program are a team of IT experts at theLocal Government of Kediri. Also, the partners involved are also active as speakers ofeducational technology. Physical education is basically an integral part of the education system as a whole which aims to develop aspects of health, physical fitness, critical thinking skills, emotional stability, social skills, reasoning and moral action through physical activities and sports. The purpose of this study was to improve learning outcomes for grade V SD Negeri Balongwono, Trowulan District, Mojokerto Regency through the assistance of peer tutors. The research was conducted at SD Negeri Balongwono, Trowulan District, Mojokerto Regency in the first semester of the 2018/2019 academic year, from March 2019 to April 2019. The subjects of this study were GRADE V SD Negeri Balongwono, Mojokerto Regency in the 2018/2019 academic year, namely 26 people who above: 16 boys and 10 girls. Sources of data used in Graderoom Action Research (PTK) are as follows: 1. Data on learning outcomes above, obtained from students; 2. Teacher activity data, obtained from events during the teaching and learning activities in progress; 3. Student activity data, obtained from events during the teaching and learning activities; 4. Data on the implementation of teaching and learning activities with the help of peer tutors, obtained from events during the teaching and learning activities. The data analyzed included quantitative data (by presenting numbers as a measure of achievement), and qualitative data (presenting numbers as a comparison). Data analysis was carried out in a descriptive comparative manner which aims to compare the conditions before and after the learning corrective action was taken. The stages in the action of analyzing data include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the data analysis of the basic technique of passing on mini volleyball for Grade V students of SD Negeri Balongwono, Trowulan District, Mojokerto Regency, 2018/2019 academic year, the following results can be obtained: 1. In the pre-action of 26 students, there were 11 students (42%) who completed learning. 2. At the end of the first cycle of 26 students, there were 19 students (73%) who had finished learning. 3. At the end of the second cycle of 26 students, 23 students (88%) have completed learning. Thus it can be concluded that the application of the peer tutor assistance method can improve the basic techniques of fitting for the V-grade mini volleyball of the V-grade students of SD Negeri Balongwono, Trowulan District, Mojokerto Regency, 2018/2019 Academic Year.

The laboratory is an essential element in the teaching and learning of chemistry, but it is challenging to provide this when delivering courses and programs online or at a distance. Studies have repeatedly shown that alternate laboratory modes can lead to equivalent student performance when compared with in-person experiences. In this literature review, we will examine five modes of laboratory delivery (i.e. face-to-face, virtual, remote control, home-study kits and, to a lesser extent self-guided field trips) that may be considered in providing quality practical laboratory activities to support online studies. Each mode brings its own particular strengths and weaknesses and can be used individually or in combination. The selection and integration of those modes, which is driven by learning outcomes and other factors, will be examined as part of the design process. Finally, future laboratory design will certainly include new technologies, but potentially also elements like open educational resources, learning analytics, universal design, and citizen science.
