Abstract As an extreme phenomenon of water pollution, odorous-black water not only cause ecological damage and threaten human health, but also severely restrict urban development. This paper mainly summarizes the main points, applicability, advantages and disadvantages of the current comprehensive treatment technology of odorous-black water, and analyzes the later development direction of odorous-black water treatment technology. It is considered that the treatment of odorous-black water is a systematic project, which involves many sources such as external source interception, water purification, quality assurance of living water, ecological restoration are the important technical means.

The development of heavy pollution industry has a certain impact on the ecological environment. This paper combs and summarizes the environmental treatment technology of heavy pollution industry from the aspects of air pollution and water pollution. During studing the advantages and disadvantages of various environmental treatment technologies, the authors finds that there are the following problems in the development of environmental treatment technology of heavy pollution industry in China: there is a lack of long-term planning for air pollution environmental treatment; The cost of water pollution control is high and the energy consumption is large. Therefore, relevant environmental governance departments should promote the concept of sustainable development and strengthen the constraints of waste gas and sewage treatment process; Enterprises in heavy pollution industries need to learn and learn from the cutting-edge technologies of environmental governance; Social media positively guide enterprises in heavily polluting industries to protect the ecological environment through public supervision.

This paper analyzed three dominant approaches of Municipal solid wastes treatments in our country. In this paper we not only compared the advantages and disadvantages of these three dominant approaches but also took analysis to the present situation of MSW(municipal solid wastes) treatment and existing problems in domestic and foreign. At last we thought the future development of MSW treatment: it has many restrictions to take each single way so that comprehensive treatment is the key point to achieve the goal of MSW resource processing.

Vinyl acetate is an organic chemical raw material of great industrial value. It is widely used in synthetic film, adhesive, coating and textile slurry. The production route of vinyl acetate is introduced, and the advantages and disadvantages of synthesis methods of vinyl acetate method, acetylene method, EDA cracking method, base synthesis method and Halcon method are compared. The method of carbide acetylene has high economic efficiency, low energy consumption and good environmental protection, proposing the development direction of ethylene acetate production technology.

New York City provides secondary treatment to approximately 78.6 m3/s among its 14 water pollution control plants (WPCPs). The process of choice has been step-feed activated sludge. Changes to the permit limits require nitrogen removal in WPCPs discharging into the Long Island Sound. The City has selected step feed biological nitrogen removal (BNR) process to upgrade the affected plants. Step feed BNR requires increasing the concentration of mixed liquors, (MLSS), which stresses the Gould II type rectangular final settling tanks (FSTs). To assess performance and evaluate alternatives to improve efficiency of the FSTs at the higher loads, New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) and City College of New York (CCNY) have developed a three-dimensional computer model depicting the actual structural configuration of the tanks and the current and proposed hydraulic and solids loading rates. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Model, Fluent 6.3.26TM as the base platform, sub-models of the SS settling characteristics as well as turbulence, flocculation, etc. were incorporated. This was supplemented by field and bench scale experiments to quantify the co-efficients integral to the sub-models. As a result, a three-dimensional model has been developed that is being used to consider different baffle arrangements, sludge withdrawal mechanisms and loading alternatives to the FSTs.

Membrane technologies are nowadays widely used; especially various types of filtration or reverse osmosis in households, desalination plants, pharmaceutical applications etc. Facing water pollution, they are also applied to eliminate emerging contaminants from water. Incomplete knowledge directs the composition of membranes towards more and more dense materials known for their higher selectivity compared to porous constituents. This paper evaluates advantages and disadvantages of well-known membrane materials that separate on the basis of particle size, usually exposed to a large amount of water, versus dense hydrophobic membranes with target transport of emerging contaminants through a selective barrier. In addition, the authors present several membrane processes employing the second type of membrane.

This paper evaluates the development-induced water pollution in Malaysia within an econometric framework. It explores the relationship between water pollution problems and rapid economic development such as industrial growth and urbanization/population in the country. Methodologically, a Multiple Regression Analysis that is essential to reveal the likely hidden interactive effects between the multivariate pollutants from different sources on river catchments was employed. The main objectives of the paper are (a) to spell out the structure and regional pattern of water pollution issues in Malaysia; (b) to find the hidden interactive effects of point and non-point sources of water pollutants on rivers; and (c) to turn the attention of water policy-makers to the implication of such interactive effects, which may jeopardize the administrative enforcement actions of minimizing water pollution issues in any given country. The paper, therefore, argues that if the abatement policy instruments are stringently controlling only water pollutants from one single source, policy abatement programs designed for controlling water pollution would not be effective. This paper has concluded that the imposition of appropriate treatment technology in industries is strongly needed to solve the problem of water pollution. People awareness of water pollution programs, and public and private sector participation are prerequisites that must always reflect in every stage of policy control and design by the authority.

The premise of this article is that learning procedures used to train artificial neural networks are inherently statistical techniques. It follows that statistical theory can provide considerable insight into the properties, advantages, and disadvantages of different network learning methods. We review concepts and analytical results from the literatures of mathematical statistics, econometrics, systems identification, and optimization theory relevant to the analysis of learning in artificial neural networks. Because of the considerable variety of available learning procedures and necessary limitations of space, we cannot provide a comprehensive treatment. Our focus is primarily on learning procedures for feedforward networks. However, many of the concepts and issues arising in this framework are also quite broadly relevant to other network learning paradigms. In addition to providing useful insights, the material reviewed here suggests some potentially useful new training methods for artificial neural networks.

The emission trading market has been established in Shaanxi province for more than three years, but the free flow of the emission permits is still not available because of the market is dominated by the government. In view of this situation, this paper puts forward some countermeasures about developing the emission trading market according to the former research achievements, and devotes to prove the benefits of the emission market for the water pollution treatment. It also analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the market-oriented behaviors, combining with the social circumstance in Shaanxi province.
