Abstract The scope of this article is to analyze the behavior of children’s brain waves in response to interaction with an augmented reality application that aims to support the concept of measurement in physics teaching. In particular, the analysis of brain waves is carried out through a brain-computer interface that measures 6 cognitive states such as engagement, interest, stress, focus, excitation, and relaxation. The method used to perform the analysis is carried out by means of electroencephalography, which is an electrophysiological process to record the electrical activity of the brain, and which is captured by means of sensors located on the scalp. Once the signals are captured, they are amplified, digitized, and stored in a computer for processing and analysis. Initially, electrical signals are recorded in response to a measurement stimulus with traditional methods and later with an augmented reality application stimulus. Among the most relevant findings, it was possible to establish that interest and commitment increase in response to the teaching method supported with an augmented reality application for the measurement concept with respect to the traditional teaching method. The use of vision technologies in teaching the concept of measurement improves cognitive states of interest, commitment and reduces the level of stress.

New technologies and opportunities to modernize and make teaching more dynamic emerge, as well as to switch from the ordinary traditional teaching method to a different format, which makes the student the protagonist of the construction of his knowledge. It is precisely in this context that new forms of use of technology in the educational field emerge, among which are the virtual worlds (MV) and augmented reality (AR), which are the objects of analysis in this chapter. Taking the basic premises on these topics, this chapter aims to help the reader understand the process of development and application of virtual worlds and augmented reality in education in order to discuss the inherent difficulties, practicalities, advantages, challenges, and trends. Thus, this chapter aimed to present the reader with the importance of reflecting on this context, seeking to show how each of these technologies has been applied in the educational field, being based on reports of empirical and academic experiences of the authors and other researchers.

Teaching method plays crucial role affecting students’ motivation to learn physics. There are many innovative strategies for teaching physics. One of them is inquiry-based teaching. Investigative approach in physics teaching is very effective tool that gives students the opportunity to try their self-procedures used by scientists in investigation of the real problems. The appropriate object of examination can be an interactive computer simulation. The simulation “My Solar System” developed in University of Colorado Boulder was used for this purpose. Students of grammar school were invited to examine this own "pocket universe". The program simulates movement of 2 – 4 gravitationally bound bodies. The students can measure position, velocity and mass of the bodies versus time. The paper describes step by step how to work with students. The students’ activities and obtained skills are described.

The introduction of a means of transportation to children can stimulate the brain to imagine and train creativity. With the development of information technology, means of introducing means of transportation can be done using devices such as computers, laptops or smartphones. The development of Augmented Reality technology on smartphones will make it easier for children to get to know several types of transportation that they often encounter. The purpose of writing this article is to create an application for Introduction to Transportation Tools using Augmented Reality technology for children. The method used in making this application of Introduction to Transportation Tools is observation and interviews. The production begins with collecting data on what types of transportation will be made as a model using the Blender software. Augmented Reality application design uses Unity software by designing markers made from the Vuforia platform. The features in this application are several types of transportation that are displayed in 3D with sound and information using Augmented Reality technology. The results of testing the Transportation Tool Introduction application can run on various Android mobile devices. It has been tested on several different smartphone brands and specifications - the results of the Transportation Tool Introduction can run smoothly except under Android version 4.3 (Jellybean). Based on the test results contained in the Application of Introduction to Transportation Tools using Augmented Reality, it is suitable for introducing more interesting and innovative types of transportation to early childhood. There are still many deficiencies that can be developed, for example, increasing the number of 3D objects in the transportation tool and making animations even better, so that the application is more interesting, interactive, and easy to understand.

<p>This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using a mobile Augmented Reality<strong> </strong>application in the geography unit for 10th-grade students on their achievements and attitude. The unit is part of the Omani’s social studies curriculum and entitled, “Environmental Problems and Hazards”. To achieve this purpose, a quasi-experimental study design was conducted. The instruments designed, validated and used to collect data were pre-post achievement tests and attitudinal scale. The participants were 64 male students, divided into two experimental and control groups. The field application period took four weeks in which the control group studied the unit using the normal teaching method, while the mobile Augmented Reality application, HP Reveal, with a website that supports its features, was integrated to teach experimental group. Findings show that there was a statistically significant difference between the pre- and post-field applications in terms of students’ achievement and attitudes. Nevertheless, there was no impact observed when the control and experimental groups’ achievement was compared.  The researcher suggested conducting further investigations to examine the value of integrating Augmented Reality in the educational system considering various factors and variables.</p>

Physics teaching strategies used in university-based science courses are mainly focused on the so-called traditional teaching, composed of lectures and laboratory exercises. This way of teaching physics does not allow students to acquire understanding of basic notions of physics so that some enduring misconceptions may hinder future learning. Thus, our research aims to identify the conditions of implementation of the discussion method in a physics education course for pre-service teachers. Our results point out three conditions that must be satisfied to implement successfully the discussion method in physics education courses. We conclude by stating advantages and limits of our research. Key words: pre-service science teachers, physics education, socio-constructivist approach.

Some buildings hold certain qualities of space design similar to those originated from nature in harmony with its surroundings. These buildings, mostly associated with religious beliefs and practices, allow for human comfort and a unique state of mind. This paper aims to verify such effect on the human brain. It concentrates on measuring brain waves when the user is located in several spots (coordinates) in some of these buildings. Several experiments are conducted on selected case studies to identify whether certain buildings affect the brain wave frequencies of their users or not. These are measured in terms of Brain Wave Frequency Charts through EEG Device. The changes identified on the brain were then translated into a brain diagram that reflects the spiritual experience all through the trip inside the selected buildings. This could then be used in architecture to enhance such unique quality.
