Abstract Laut Tawar Lake is located in the town of Takengon, Central Aceh district. Currently, Laut Tawar Lake has been utilized by the surrounding community as a fishing spot. One of the fishing gears used by fishermen is Bubu wau. One of the catches obtained by fishermen is crayfish. The crayfish has a high economic value, so the lack of control over the intensity of the catch also causes the average size of the crayfish caught, because catching crayfish is a transition from catching Rasbora tawarensis. One of the problems that frequently occur and research on crayfish has never been done before. Therefore, this research needs to be done. The purpose of this study was to determine fishing catch compositions of Bubu wau and the size distribution of crayfish carapace length of Bubu Wau fishermen in the Teluk One-one, Laut Tawar Lake. The research was carried out in about March 2021. The description of the fishing catch composition was analyzed by using the describded method. The size distribution of crayfish carapace length was analyzed by the Sturgess rule. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the catch compositions of Bubu wau in Teluk One-one are crayfish, suckermouth catfish, channeled apple snail and tilapia. The type of crayfish caught by fishermen’s Bubu wau was Cherax quadricarinatus amount of 4232 individuals (89% of the total catch), where the total length of the dominant crayfish carapace was 4.4-4.9 cm with a total number of 1403 and the least with a size of 8.6-9.1 cm was 1 crayfish from the total catch

Addition of small amounts of erbium has a profound effect on recrystallization and grain growth in titanium. Erbium, because of its negligible solubility in titanium, precipitates in the titanium matrix as a finely dispersed second phase. The presence of this phase, depending on its average size, distribution, and volume fraction in titanium, strongly inhibits the migration of grain boundaries during recrystallization and grain growth, and thus produces ultimate grains of sub-micrometer dimensions. A systematic investigation has been conducted to study the isothermal grain growth in electrolytically pure titanium and titanium-erbium alloys (Er concentration ranging from 0-0.3 at.%) over the temperature range of 450 to 850°C by electron microscopy.

This article provides an estimate of the human capital value of migration to Reading in the period 1851-1871 to the town's economy. This is determined by estimating total net migration to the town across this period by age and sex and assigning all migrants a value for expected lifetime economic output less expected lifetime consumption costs. The final figures are contextualised by comparison with the value of social overhead capital used to fund significant local infrastructure projects in the same time period and show that, from a human capital perspective, the value of migration to Reading was very significant. This article thus addresses significant historiographical gaps in the study of Victorian labour migration to southern provincial towns and provides an original perspective to studies of the economic value of migration and its role in the growth of such communities.

This study describes shore-based competitive fishing events in Ilhéus, southern Bahia (Brazil), including catch composition, and provides information on the profile of recreational fishers participating in these events. Information was collected in all events promoted by the Clube de Pesca de Ilhéus (CLUPESIL) in 2007-2008. A total of 26 competitive fishing events were organized during this period, with 47 species caught. The top species were: Cathorops spixii, Menticirrhus littoralis, Trachinotus goodei, Eucinostomus melanopterus, Polydactylus virginicus, Atherinella brasiliensis, and Eucinostomus argenteus. These seven species represented 87% of the total catch in number and 78% in weight. Menticirrhus littoralis and Polydactylus virginicus are species of commercial interest and their catch was dominated by juveniles. Local recreational fishers were predominately middle-aged men, who tended to use small hooks and mainly shrimp as bait. They were consumption-oriented, but also released small fishes. During competitions, fishers used even smaller hooks. Most of them perceived shrimp trawling as the main factor affecting recreational fisheries. The use of larger hooks and a minimum size of 20 cm are suggested to decrease the capture of juveniles, mainly those of commercial importance. This study sets a baseline from which new studies can be proposed to access the current status of local recreational fisheries.

Macrobrachium rosenbergii (De Man, 1879) is a freshwater prawn species that have a high economic value because of its relatively large size compared to the other freshwater prawn species. Exploration to find this species in the Maraja River, Toli-Toli, Central Sulawesi was carried out in January 2019. Sample collected using tray net. Two male specimens of M. rosenbergii were found in the river, with maximum size of carapace length reaching 45.94 mm. Macrobrachium rosenbergii has been found in habitats with clay substrate and slow flowing current. This record extended the distribution of M. rosenbergii, whose spread in Sulawesi has been known only in the southern part of the island, such as in Makassar, Bone, Pinrang, Wajo and Luwu. In this paper, the morphological characters and line drawing of some character M. rosenbergii from the Maraja River were provided.

The research is aimed to reveal opportunity development of the capture fisheries in Talaud Islands Regency by using bionomy approach with Gordon-Schaefer model (Fauzy, 2005) con-cerning the dominant of illegal fishing activities around the area. The research was started by co-llected some secondary data on fish production and number of fishing units. Primary data were collected on catch composition and types of fishing gear. Gordon-Schaefer methods was applied to evaluate the tuna and skipjack resources in the area. The troll and pole and line are indicated as the dominant fishing gears used to catch the skipjack and tuna. In case of open access condition, the production will end up to 25,09 tons, while the resource rent will be end up to zero. For the development, simulations were exercised in 3 scenarios: 1) scenario of enhancing domestic fleet, 2) scenario of illegal fishing, and 3) scenario of net surplus. With those scenarios, if the illegal fishing could be eliminated, the capture fisheries in this regency could render economic value to 10 billion rupiah.

Abstract This paper reports the synthesis of monodisperse spherical LiCoO2 particles in a wide range of average diameter using a urea-based-uniform-precipitation method. The average diameter of LiCoO2 particles can be varied from 2 to 14 lm with a uniform size distribution. The effective approach to maintain the size uniformity while changing the average size of LiCoO2 particles is to keep the ratio of [CO(NH2)2] to [CoSO4] at 8 even when the CoSO4 and urea concentrations are changed.

Purpose – This study aims to investigate how Oachira Panthrandu Vilakku (twelve-lamp) festival in Oachira helps in providing economic benefits to local residents of the town during the pilgrimage season. Design/methodology/approach – Stakeholder interviews and focus-group roundtable discussions with multiple stakeholders were conducted. Findings – Policy changes have been studied and recommended for enhancing the economic value of the culturally embedded Panthrandu Vilakku festival celebrated in Oachira, Kerala, India. Practical implications – There is huge untapped potential for India’s festivals in India. While efforts are made to leverage these for economic gains, the negative impacts also need to be recognized and mitigated. Originality/value – The study is significant in the context of arresting economic leakage and promoting an ecosystem of decision-making at community level by the local residents.

Platinum and palladium powders with average particle sizes in the submicron range have been synthesized at room temperature by hydrazine reduction of and , respectively, in glycols. Platinum powders contain spherical particles with a bimodal size distribution. Palladium powders also contain spherical particles, but the size distribution is narrow. The effect of both ammonia and hydrazine concentration on the size distribution and average size of palladium particles was investigated.

Polystyrene (PS) microspheres with different sizes were prepared by suspension polymerization. The effect of initiator concentration on the average sizes and size distribution was evaluated. The results showed that the average size of PS microspheres increases with increasing initiator content, the optimal uniformity of PS microspheres was attained when the mass ratio of BPO to styrene was 1.5:100. The effect of stirring speed on the particle size was also investigated. The average size of PS microspheres reduced with the increase of the stirring speed.
