Sustainable peatland management will have an impact on the welfare of the community as a whole. Rural communities use peatlands as their primary source of income. This article aims to formulate plants on peatlands to improve the economy of the community Indragiri Hulu Regency. The method used is a combination of field observation data and a participatory geographic information system (GIS-P). The utilization of peatlands is still dominated by oil palm and rubber plants. Peatlands have the potential for high-value and environmentally friendly vegetation, such as gaharu, barley and liberica coffee. The shallower peatlands are suitable for horticultural vegetation such as rice and short-lived vegetables and fruits. Besides, it is reasonable to cultivate wetlands in Indragiri Hulu, such as catfish, catfish, tilapia and tilapia. Through this participatory information system, it is possible to determine the commodities developed in the region.

Abstract: Encountering between Islam and Javanese culture is fascinating to study. It is proved by cultural unique in Java community, such “selametan” tradition in building the house. Therefore, in this study discover two elements. First, look for the motivation in holding that tradition. Second, the depth meaning of “selamatan sajen” towards Javanese community. This study conducted qualitative approach and this was case study. This study focused on the relation between Islam Javanese culture. The population was the civilizing of Gentan, Ngrupit, Jenangan, Ponorogo. Observation and interview were used to collect the data. It was found that the existence of selametan sajen is as same as the Islamic assent. It was proved by Prophet Adam a.s and his son also used that tradition in the past. Moreover, the intended meaning of its culture is to pray to Allah. Then the purposes are, first, safeness during the process in building house; second, hopefully neighbors blessing. Selamatan tradition invites their neighborhood and gives them various kinds of food and snacks. Those are called as sajen. In line, selametan tradition such building a house, has contribution in spiritual education. As the reason, its sajen has different depth meaning of each symbol. And it can be seen in Islamic culture. Keywords: Mbah Pujonggo, Singkretis, Nayuh, Kembang Setaman.

The article aims to analyze the interface of reflexivity, knowledge and ecologic awareness in the context of hospital work, based on data collected in a qualitative case study carried out at a public hospital. Field observation data and interviews are discussed in the light of sociologic and philosophic references. Workers expressed the interface between knowledge and action, in which there is a cycle of lack of knowledge, automatism in the actions and lack of environmental awareness, posing limits to individual awareness and to responsibility towards environmental preservation. Increased debate and education, including the environmental issue, are needed in the context of hospital work. Although hospital work is reflexively affected by the environmental problem, that does not guarantee the reorientation of practices and responsible action towards the environment.

The reliability of the computer numerical control (CNC) system affects its processing performance and is a major concern in the manufacturing industry today. However, existing reliability models to assess the reliability of the CNC system often exhibit relatively large errors due to inadequate treatment of small samples. In order to get around the constraint of limited lifetime failure data and take full advantage of existing reliability parameters in traditional reliability models, a multisource information fusion-based reliability model grounded on Bayesian inference is proposed to deal with the small sample size. The prior distributions are derived by using the probability encoding method and conjugate distribution based on the idea of multisource information fusion. Then, using the Jensen–Shannon divergence (JSD) to measure the similarity between prior information and field observation data, a constrained optimization problem is established to determine the respective weight of prior information and field observation data. Finally, by conducting the reliability analysis of repairable CNC systems, the validity of the proposed model and its prior distribution derivation method are verified.

Designing a methodology for mapping and studying soils in a quick and inexpensive way is critical especially in developing countries like Zambia, which lack detailed soil surveys. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the potential of Landsat 7 ETM+ data (Enhanced Thematic Mapper plus) in mapping soils in Chongwe, a semi-arid region in Zambia. In addition, the study attempted to establish how accurate spectral soil maps produced by digital analysis of Landsat data can be and how such maps compared with field observation data. Also, in situations where there was poor agreement between Landsat data and field observation data, possible causes of such discrepancies where determined.

A soil inventory of the Chongwe region of Zambia was prepared using computer-aided digital analysis of two Landsat 7 ETM+ satellite images acquired in the dry and rainy seasons to investigate the hypothesis that there is a relationship between Landsat spectral reflectance and certain soil types and that this relationship can be used to map soils with reasonable accuracy.

The study revealed that digital analysis of Landsat 7 ETM images has the capacity to map and delineate soil patterns with reasonable accuracy, especially when acquired during the dry season when there are long periods of cloud free skies, low soil moisture and minimal vegetation cover. The overall agreement between the Landsat classification and reference data was 72%, indicating a definite relationship between Landsat imagery and soil types.

In terms of soilscape boundary delineation, the Landsat derived map was had a higher level of agreement with field observations than the conventional soil map. In addition, the study showed that overall, upland areas have a better agreement with Landsat spectral data compared to lowland areas, probably due to the diverse origin of sediments and low spatial extent of most landforms in lowland areas.

A harmonious family is the most beautiful treasure in the life of the world. A harmonious family can be a wonderful spirit to do everything. But sometimes life in the family will find problems. So that harmonious family atmosphere is often eroded by these problems. Actually, every problem will find the right solution if a family can communicate intensely. This study focuses on family disharmony in terms of communication intensity. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of case study research. The subjects of this study were DT, WI, LL, SG, LM, ES, and HT. The data presented is obtained by doing field observation directly with the support of interviews to the related subjects. The data is presented in the form of words, then analyzed to be taken conclusion as the result of research. After the researcher conducted the initial observation and found the family who in the disharmonic condition in Karangpucung village, Purwokerto Selatan subdistrict, the writer do deeper observation and interview related to family disharmony in terms of communication intensity. The results showed that the intensity aspects of communication in DT and WI families were: 1) attention during communication, 2) regularity, 3) message width, and 4) message depth. In addition, the intensity of communication factors in DT and WI families are 1) self-image and image of others, 2) psychological atmosphere, 3) physical environment, 4) tendency to lead together, and 5) dislike trust as a telling place between DT and WI

In this case study with a qualitative approach we aim to analyze perspectives of students on the intercultural competence and its development during their academic exchange period abroad. The increasingly competitive and globalized labor market requires knowledgeable professionals from an intercultural point of view. The techniques to collect data were semi-structured interviews and participant observation. Data analysis procedures followed content analysis. The results suggest that the perception of cultural differences increases in students, although the development and improvement of institutional policies of universities is necessary for the preparation of strategies that promote the development of said competences. Conclusions point towards the increased relevance that intercultural competence represents on Higher Education nowadays and on future professionals.
