Abstract Aims Oncological disease need a system of care involving hospital staff and informal caregivers. Care-givers are subjected to stressful factors (burden) with repercussions on psycho-physical balance. The project, carried out together with the ONLUS Travel Companions Association and the Multidisciplinary Oncological Groups (GOM) of Brain and Breast Cancers, intends to offer supportive training experiences for care-givers and health workers, offering emotional and practical preparation for the treatments that they will find themselves providing the cancer relative by helping to improve the quality of care and the relationship between the subjects. The professionals participating in the project (doctors, nurses) take part in a training held by professionals from the Association. The care givers, divided into groups, carry out a CBI test (Caregiver Burden Inventory) and training meetings on medical, psychological and social assistance issues. After 3 months from the end of the course, the care-giver carries out the interview with the psychologist and recompiles the CBI. Furthermore, on 30 selected patients of Breast Cancers, GOM, an emotional evaluation questionnaire of their life experience was administered with respect to the stages of the disease pathway. Results The answers were then analyzed by the word cloud method and summarized in a synthetic map for each question. The most used words to describe the mood during the illness are 'anger, pain, anguish and worry'; while waiting before the visit they are 'long, exhausting, anxious'; towards the doctor 'availability, humanity, kindness, friendliness, professionalism'; with regard to 'excellent, availability' assistance; about social life during the 'unchanged, serene' illness; towards the return home 'joy'. Conclusions The project is a starting point towards a continuous and progressive humanization of the integrated pathways from 'to cure' to 'to care' in oncology. Key messages Patients are positively affected from shared initiatives. Word cloud may resume patients moods and thei main issues concerninthe path.

Purpose – It is worth focusing on the examination of factors influencing the quality of the work environment. The purpose of this paper is to verify the influence of the HRM system and organisational trust on employee commitment. Design/methodology/approach – The survey was conducted in Poland among 370 employees in organisations from two sectors of the economy: services and industry. The verification of the theoretical model was performed based on structural equation modelling. Findings – Research findings made it possible to successfully verify the model of the relationship between the HRM system (practices, process), organisational trust and commitment. The starting point for trust in an organisation followed by commitment is the HRM system. It seems that the impact of the HRM process on creating organisational trust is higher. Research findings have also confirmed a relationship between each type of organisational trust and calculative commitment based on benefits, which is a strong determinant of affective commitment. Organisational trust is, therefore, an intermediary factor because the organisation must build trust in employees first before they become affectively committed. Originality/value – Current studies have not examined the issue of a mutual relationship between three constructs: perceived HRM practices and process, organisational trust and commitment. What is more, previous research was confined to the constructs analysed holistically without considering their complexity (different types of trust and commitment). In addition, the authors attempted to enrich Allen and Mayer’s (1991) model with a new aspect of the commitment – calculative, which is linked to the benefits received by employees. The authors also identified the mediating influence of the trust and calculative commitment onto the affective commitment.

While social media is an aspect of life for many, it brings to light the lack of interpersonal connection when browsing activity occurs. The displacement theory suggests that the quality of one’s offline interactions is affected by how much time an individual allots to those exchanges. Depending on the amount of time spent online, interpersonal connections may suffer and lead to negative psychological consequences. Our study aimed to explore the relationship between the desirability of social media and socialization preferences through a cue-based perceptual judgment task where participants ( N = 136) rated 40 gray-scale images in terms of their desirability. The image categories included social media icons, singular scenes depicting an isolated activity, social scenes representing an interactive activity, and traffic signs as the control. We also included questionnaires to assess depressiveness and aspects of social media usage. Our findings suggest that the immediate desire for social media is potentially linked to one’s desire for social isolation as represented by the singular scene category, the intensity of participant’s reported daily usage, and the extent to which social media is perceived to impact real social life. To our knowledge, this is the first report on the initial desirability judgment of social media and its association with other factors. Further research is needed to distinguish the variability in users’ aim of using social media and if that is related to one’s perceived feelings of social connectedness and solitude.

Siblings of persons with schizophrenia may provide primary or secondary care for their sibling and support to parents who are primary care givers. These siblings experience stress and the accompanying sequelae of decreased quality of life, grief, chronic illness, and symptoms of depression and anxiety. Comprehensive measures of sibling stress have not been published. Before interventions to help siblings can be created, health professionals need such an assessment. The Friedrich-Lively Instrument to Assess the Impact of Schizophrenia on Siblings (FLIISS) has been developed to meet the needs of both health workers and siblings. The instrument has a strong conceptual basis adapted from Pearlin’s model of stress in caregiving and was preceded by pilot work that evaluated both quantitative and qualitative data. In this article, (Part I), the development of the instrument and its relationships to the conceptual model are described. Health professionals can use the instrument for collecting information that will increase their ability to identify sources of stress faced by siblings of persons with schizophrenia, and from this assessment they may develop interventions for this underserved population.

The increase in passenger traffic in air transport means that the airport's capacity becomes an increasingly important issue in addition to the safety and quality of services provided. Of course, its composition includes a number of elements determining as a consequence the possibility of celebrating a certain number of passengers and their baggage within a given time interval. In this paper, an overview of the issues related to the capacity of the passenger safety checkpoint and hand luggage was presented in the form of an introduction to further analysis. This is a very important factor illustrating the airport's operational capabilities. Proper configuration of GDP in the context of its infrastructure and tasks performed by security control operators, allows for conscious planning of not only the number of air operations performed in an hourly period, but also the appropriate design of terminal infrastructure necessary to check passengers. The tasks of OKB described in this article as well as additional factors affecting the time of performed control constitute a starting point for further, detailed tests allowing for quantification of the relationship between the indicated factors and the time of passenger's control.

Patient care in the registration section of the hospital is a very important activity, because there is a recording of patient data that will be used by other health workers in providing further health care. The use of information technology in the registration section can increase work effectiveness and efficiency and produce accurate information. For this reason, it is necessary to analyze the factors that affect the benefits of using information technology in the registration section. This study aims to examine the relationship between the quality of information systems, the ability of officers and the performance of information users at RSI Siti Rahmah Padang, Indonesia. The research was conducted with survey method and data analysis using a quantitative approach. From the research results, it was found that the quality of information systems did not affect the benefits of using information technology. Meanwhile, the ability and performance of officers affect the benefits of using information technology. It is suggested that the scope of the use of information technology in the medical records section be increased. It is necessary to increase the ability of officers in the use of information technology by holding training or workshops.

Objectives: The recovery rate is important to determine a country’s development towards controlling coronavirus. It is a function of myriad factors – death rate, cases requiring hospitalization, quality of care, and discharge policies, among others. India’s recovery rate is growing steadily from an earlier low of 10% to 11%. It is imperative to understand the determinants of recovery rate in a country to enable improvements in the same. Material and Methods: COVID-19 data have been compiled from several sources, including the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, National Disaster Management Authority, and Indian Council of Medical Research and demographic and health data from Census of India, 2011, National Health Profile, 2019, and were used. The study uses linear regression to understand the relationship between recovery rate and development indicators in India. Results: Our analysis emphasizes the beneficial impacts of the health system and better economy on the recovery rate. Investment in health, urban stay, non-slum and non-poor population, and effective governance is instrumental in improving recovery rate. Conclusion: Scaling up health facilities and medical infrastructure, slum decongestion, focus on economically weaker sections, capacity building of health workers and ameliorating long-term investments in health, health research, and better quality of living are also essential to address recovery of COVID-19.
