Legitimacy, Democracy, and Justice

This chapter attempts to provide a reflexive answer to the question of the relationship between the three basic concepts of political normativity. These concepts are: legitimacy, democracy, and justice. It is commonly assumed that these three concepts are arranged in order of increasing normative content: the concept of legitimacy is thought to involve less extensive normative investments than that of democracy, whereas justice, by contrast, is not only regarded as the highest political good but also seems to be in rivalry with the concept of democracy and to go beyond legitimacy. In addition, “reflexivity” here is taken as the ability to ascertain the ultimate justifying reasons for the claim to normative validity. This is not only a theoretical but also a practical virtue, since practices and institutions can exhibit reflexivity insofar as they adopt a critical stance on their justifiability.

Although the question of relationship between basic concepts of traditional ontology and central concepts of fundamental ontology is not a topic which is systematically dealt with in Being and Time, it is obvious that some of the theses which are crucial not only for Heidegger's interpretation of philosophical tradition, but also for the whole project of fundamental ontology, concern this 'conceptual scheme'. In fact, the backbone of Heidegger's critical confrontation with dominant philosophical conceptions is the question of relationship between the concept of 'substance' and the concept of 'Being', i.e. the discussion of philosophical doctrines in which 'Being' is reduced to 'substance'. Besides this context, which concerns the ontological problematics in the strict sense, it is possible to show that the refutation of the basic categories of traditional ontology is an issue which has a decisive role in more concrete phases of the realization of the project of fundamental ontology. This is especially confirmed in Heidegger's discussion of the concept of 'Being-There'. The interpretation of Heidegger's treatment of the relationship between the concepts of 'Being-there', 'existence' and 'existentials' on the one hand, and the concepts of 'substance', 'essence' and 'categories' on the other, shows that one of Heidegger's basic theses is that a transformation of concepts of traditional ontology is necessary for an appropriate understanding of human being.

- The article directly refers to the revision of some basic concepts of Jungian thought, (archetypes as psychic organizers, the discussion on the relationship between intra-psychic vs. inter-subjective, the notion of psychic contagion, the concepts of psychoid and synchronicity), and to the most recent post-Jungian research (the archetypes as image schemata, by Knox, the emergent psychic development by Cambray, or the defences of the Self, by Kalshed). Referring to these themes, it is possible to connect some contributions coming from psycho-analysis to some possible mechanisms of inter-generational transmission. The Jungian perspective on psychological trauma (present conflict, dissociation and regression, adaptation) may give an important contribution to shed light on the fact based on clinical observations that beyond the direct effects of trauma which are directly felt by the person, the latter's mental life may be deeply affected and tied to traumatic events and contents which do not involve him directly, as they belong to previous generations.

The broadening of X-ray line profiles is usually described by the kinematical scattering theory. In this chapter, the basic concepts and equations of the kinematical X-ray scattering are presented in order to better understand the theory of line profile analysis. The correlation between the crystal structure and the diffracted intensity distribution is shown. The scattering angles of the diffracted peak maxima are given by the Ewald construction in the reciprocal space. The correspondence between the reciprocal lattice vectors and the lattice planes is also presented, and the relationship between the scattering angle and the lattice plane spacing is given by Bragg’s law.

Chemical Bonding I: Basic Concepts examines general ideas of chemical bonding between atoms and ions and how this bonding affects the chemical properties of the elements. An overview of Lewis symbols, Lewis structures and the octet rule is presented including the role of valence electrons in ionic and covalent bonding. The energy changes that accompany ionic bond formation are also discussed with emphasis on lattice energy. The chapter covers guidelines and general procedures for writing Lewis structures or electron dot formulas for molecular compounds and polyatomic ions. The concepts and applications of resonance, formal charge and exceptions to the octet rules are presented, along with coverage of the relationship between bond polarity and electronegativity.

Grammatology is traditionally a field of linguistics that establishes and studies the relationship between the letters of the alphabet and the sounds of speech. Grammatology as a branch of linguistics appeared long ago, almost simultaneously with linguistics. Along with language education, it is considered as a philosophical, special cognitive discipline that has significance. The study of grammatology is related to the culture of writing words. That is, the doctrine that provides for the recognition of society in the history of writing and culture. In this regard, the article analyzes the fundamental concepts related to the field of grammatology, language terms related to grammatology. Many terms used in the field of graphic linguistics have different semantic content. This depends on the traditions of the linguistic school. In this regard, the article analyzes the relationship and differences between the system of fundamental knowledge as grapheme, graphics and spelling. Internal components like graphics and spelling are considered with the main language aspect of grammatology. Because they are directly related to the problem of writing. They are inseparable, interdependent categories that cannot be one another. If the graphics regulate the spelling marking system, the spelling provides for the permanent position of the marked spelling.

Environmental illiteracy: the perception of teachers and students about the environment of a school in the municipality of Guaraí-TO The term environmental illiteracy emerged at the RIO-92 conference after highlighting the need to implement a sustainable model that determines the relationship of people to environmental problems in order to train citizens committed to social and environmental issues. In this context, the research aimed to analyze environmental illiteracy about the perception of teachers and high school students in the municipality of Guaraí-TO, seeking to identify this possible illiteracy. For the development of this work, resources were used to assist in data collection, allowing a clearer view of this possible illiteracy by teachers and students. Through the use of a questionnaire and observations to describe the characteristics of the interviewees, it was possible to perceive among the teachers a predominantly globalized view, emphasizing the relation between man and nature and among the students anthropocentric vision prevailed, evidencing nature as a source of resources for human survival. It was possible to perceive that the students and professionals of the education know the basic concepts of environment, but do not have a clear and objective notion of its real dimension. With this analysis, it will be possible to draw up strategies and carry out environmental education works that can contribute to this school community being able to easily understand the complexity of the theme and the possible consequences of environmental and sociocultural degradation. Key words: Environmental Perception, Illiteracy, Environment and Environmental Education.

"The architectural studies in general dealt with the study of several concepts that have an important role in the design part as well as providing preparation and support of its requirements, procedures, and rules for a variety of aspects and details. The current research directed towards a specified study of the relationship of two influential concepts within the frame-work of architectural design. These concepts are; the method and its relationship to the state of intellectual repercussion with the necessity of introducing, clarifying and defining the general knowledge frameworks for the nature of those rela-tions and the effect of the indicators of that situation with respect to the general knowledge about them. This research is Directed to define the general frameworks of the basic research concepts, which are both the method and the repercussion with other concepts that are influential, design, thought or thinking, to determine the cases of interconnec-tion between them and then to refer these cases to several levels, and to propose the models adopted from the studies and architectural proposals, which will determine the indicators needed to define the situation The correlation between the basic concepts of research (method and repercussion) within the framework of the field of architecture to show that the final out-come refers to the adoption of the repercussion as an instrument or preparation for the benefit of the method within the ar-chitectural design"
