The UK Construction Industry through its Government Construction Strategy has recently been mandated to implement Level 2 Building Information Modelling (BIM) on public sector projects. This move, along with other initiatives is key to driving a requirement for 25% cost reduction (establishing the most cost-effective means) on. Other key deliverables within the strategy include reduction in overall project time, early contractor involvement, improved sustainability and enhanced product quality. Collaboration and integrated project delivery is central to the level 2 implementation strategy yet the key protocols or standards relative to cost within BIM processes is not well defined. As offsite construction becomes more prolific within the UK construction sector, this construction approach coupled with BIM, particularly 5D automated quantification process, and early contractor involvement provides significant opportunities for the sector to meet government targets. Early contractor involvement is supported by both the industry and the successive Governments as a credible means to avoid and manage project risks, encourage innovation and value add, making cost and project time predictable, and improving outcomes. The contractor is seen as an expert in construction and could be counter intuitive to exclude such valuable expertise from the pre-construction phase especially with the BIM intent of äóÖbuild it twiceäó», once virtually and once physically. In particular when offsite construction is used, the contractoräó»s construction expertise should be leveraged for the virtual build in BIM-designed projects to ensure a fully streamlined process. Building in a layer of automated costing through 5D BIM will bring about a more robust method of quantification and can help to deliver the 25% reduction in overall cost of a project. Using a literature review and a case study, this paper will look into the benefits of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and the impact of 5D BIM on the offsite construction process.

The development of e-Learning is very promising at all levels of education. Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) has developed an e-learning or known as Kelip in 2006. However, the impact of e-learning on student achievement has no further explanation. Thus this quantitative study is aimed at exploring whether the use of e-learning, also known as KeLiP at the University of Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), is able to improve student’s achievement among the excellent students of language (PCB) and the below-average students of language (PKCB). The comparisons between the achievements of both groups are also studied. This experimental study involved 69 UniSZA diploma students taking the Arabic Language Proficiency course level 2 (UBA 1022). The students have been learning through KeLiP for 10 weeks with content materials from the UBA 1022 module which were presented electronically in the form of graphics, images, sounds, videos and hyperlinks. Pre and post test was conducted to evaluate student achievement. The study shows that the use of KeLiP has improved PCB and PKCB achievements with a mean of 26.545 per cent. The excellent students’ performances (PCB) continue to maintain their excellence over PKCB with a mean difference of 11.72 per cent. This study proves that KeLiP is able to improve student’s achievement overall and thus serves as an encouragement for the wide use of KeLiP among students and lecturers.

The objective of the study was to evaluate the impact of stores existence toward sales turnover of stalls in Mataram city. Associative research design was adopted as the study guide. Purposive sampling techniques were used in which 100 copies of the research instrument were administered to stalls owner in Mataram city, out of which 100 copies of questionnaire were filled and returned. Test of validity and reliability, classical assumption test, and multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyse the data generated from respondents. The findings revealed that stores existence variable consisted of services, product diversification, price, and comfortable of consumer have significant influence on sales turnover of stalls at 0,05 level (2-tailed). The result of the research shows the variables negatively affecting sales turnover of stalls. Furthermore, price ranks the first follow by comfortable, product diversification, and services. This research will help the owner of stalls to understand and recognize the ranking of variables affecting sales turnover of stalls in Mataram city. Keywords:   Stores Existence, Stall, and Sales Turnover.

Patient reported outcomes (PROs) of quality of life (QoL), functioning, and depressive symptom severity are important in assessing the burden of illness of major depressive disorder (MDD) and to evaluate the impact of treatment. We sought to provide a detailed analysis of PROs before and after treatment of MDD from the large Sequenced Treatment Alternatives to Relieve Depression (STAR*D) study. This analysis examines PROs before and after treatment in the second level of STAR*D. The complete data on QoL, functioning, and depressive symptom severity, were analyzed for each STAR*D level 2 treatment. PROs of QoL, functioning, and depressive symptom severity showed substantial impairments after failing a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor trial using citalopram (level 1). The seven therapeutic options in level 2 had positive statistically (P values) and clinically (Cohen's standardized differences [Cohen's d]) significant impact on QoL, functioning, depressive symptom severity, and reduction in calculated burden of illness. There were no statistically significant differences between the interventions. However, a substantial proportion of patients still suffered from patient-reported QoL and functioning impairment after treatment, an effect that was more pronounced in nonremitters. PROs are crucial in understanding the impact of MDD and in examining the effects of treatment interventions, both in research and clinical settings.


This chapter offers best practices, methods, and strategies for evaluating and assessing coaching services once they have been implemented. In order to determine the extent to which the coaching services that have been implemented are impacting retention, a comprehensive assessment combined with thoughtful analysis of the assessment data must be undertaken on a regular and continuous cycle. The Kirkpatrick and Kirkpatrick (2006) four-level assessment model to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the selected coaching program on an annual basis, for either an outsourced coaching service or an internal coaching unit or department, is the recommended approach detailed in this chapter. The four levels of the assessment are as follows: Level 1 of the assessment will measure student reactions to the coaching services; Level 2 will assess student learning through the use of pre- and post-coaching assessments; Level 3 will assess transfer of knowledge and skills; and Level 4 will assess the impact and results as a result of the coaching program. The chapter provides advice and discussion about when to conduct each level of the four-part assessment model and a comprehensive sample assessment that can be modified to fit the needs of a wide variety of programs and institutions.

Objective The paper aimed to investigate glance behaviors under different levels of distraction in automated driving (AD) and understand the impact of distraction levels on driver takeover performance. Background Driver distraction detrimentally affects takeover performance. Glance-based distraction measurement could be a promising method to remind drivers to maintain enough attentiveness before the takeover request in partially AD. Method Thirty-six participants were recruited to drive a Tesla Model S in manual and Autopilot modes on a test track while engaging in secondary tasks, including temperature-control, email-sorting, and music-selection, to impose low and high distractions. During the test drive, participants needed to quickly change the lane as if avoiding an immediate road hazard if they heard an unexpected takeover request (an auditory warning). Driver state and behavior over the test drive were recorded in real time by a driver monitoring system and several other sensors installed in the Tesla vehicle. Results The distribution of off-road glance duration was heavily skewed (with a long tail) by high distractions, with extreme glance duration more than 30 s. Moreover, being eyes-off-road before takeover could cause more delay in the urgent takeover reaction compared to being hands-off-wheel. Conclusion The study measured off-road glance duration under different levels of distraction and demonstrated the impacts of being eyes-off-road and hands-off-wheel on the following takeover performance. Application The findings provide new insights about engagement in Level 2 AD and are useful for the design of driver monitoring technologies for distraction management.
