The Romano-British site of Barcombe in East Sussex, England, has suffered heavy postdepositional attrition through reuse of the building materials for the effects of ploughing. A detailed GPR survey of the site was carried out in 2001, with results, achieved by usual radar data processing, published in 2002. The current paper reexamines the GPR data using microwave tomography approach, based on a linear inverse scattering model, and a 3D visualization that permits to improve the definition of the villa plan and reexamine the possibility of detecting earlier prehistoric remains.

Purpose. A control system for grain overloading during post-harvest processing with grain throwers has been proposed, the use of which will reduce damage and grain loss. An automated electromechanical system is presented that can be installed on agricultural machinery without additional modernization of the working bodies. Methodology. As a result of the analysis of control systems, a system with elements of fuzzy logic was selected, which will clearly define the necessary control actions and take into account additional parameters that can affect the overload process. A functional diagram of a microprocessor control system for an electric drive using a fuzzy system is proposed. The result of the system operation will be the definition of the control task for the frequency converters of the drive motors of the grain thrower mechanisms. Originality. Based on the simulation of grain flight trajectories, the dependences of the flight range on the conveyor speed and additional blowing were formed, which were used to determine the settings of the fuzzy controller. Results. Fuzzy system settings are performed: a set of input and output variables is defined; the number and location of terms are selected; a set of production rules for the system is formulated. As a result of experimental modeling, graphs of the formation of mastering influences by a fuzzy controller under the condition of the appearance and disappearance of the headwind for different given distances of movement were obtained. Practical value. Practical application of the offered system will allow to reduce material losses from injury of the overloaded grain and to increase efficiency of work of the grain thrower. Monotonically decreasing sequence data for the use of traditional modeling methods to establish the grey model accuracy is not high, grey GM (1,1) model, there is a deviation, the model does not meet the conditions for coordination, generated using the definition of reverse accumulation, full use of system information and unbiased grey GM (1,1) model parameters of the model derived formula, based on reverse incremental build new interest generated by an unbiased model grey GOM (1,1) model for the grey model provides a new method. Data processing examples show that the model's practicality and reliability.

The paper addresses classification and formal definition of neurocomputer systems for robotic complexes, based on the types of associations among their elements. We suggest analytical expressions for performance evaluation in neural computer information processing, aimed at development of methods, algorithms and software that optimize such systems.

AbstractThis article summarises discussions concerning the definition of "engineering geodesy" within the German Geodetic Commission. It is noted that engineering geodesy by means of its tasks, methods and characteristics is an application-oriented science whose research questions often arise from observed phenomena or from unsolved practical problems. In particular it is characterised by the professional handling of geometry-related problems in a cost-effective manner that includes comprehensive quality assessment at all phases of the problem solution - from planning through measurement to data processing and interpretation. The current methodical developments are primarily characterised by the increasing integration of the measurement and analysis into challenging construction, production and monitoring processes as well as by the transition to spatially continuous methods. A modern definition of engineering geodesy is proposed at the end of this article.

AbstractMassive data transfers in modern data-intensive systems resulting from low data-locality and data-to-code system design hurt their performance and scalability. Near-Data processing (NDP) and a shift to code-to-data designs may represent a viable solution as packaging combinations of storage and compute elements on the same device has become feasible. The shift towards NDP system architectures calls for revision of established principles. Abstractions such as data formats and layouts typically spread multiple layers in traditional DBMS, the way they are processed is encapsulated within these layers of abstraction. The NDP-style processing requires an explicit definition of cross-layer data formats and accessors to ensure in-situ executions optimally utilizing the properties of the underlying NDP storage and compute elements. In this paper, we make the case for such data format definitions and investigate the performance benefits under RocksDB and the COSMOS hardware platform.

The paper reviews the issues of low-resistivity of oil-saturated formations and analyzes the studies carried out in this direction as well. The definition of specific electric resistance plays a significant role in the selection of reservoir-beds and the evaluation of their productivity. The analysis of the complex of downhole geophysical surveys conducted in Azerbaijan territory justifies that in some cases the geological section consists of the layering of formations with anisotropic properties varying by their resistance and permeability. Neglecting such aspects in the data processing and interpretation leads to the distortions. In the definition of oil saturation of soil units consisting of sand-clay interlayers’ alternation, it is practical to consider the anisotropic nature and comparisons “resistance correlations”.

The pattern of existing terminological definitions is analysed, and a model for the terminological definition of concepts is proposed that is considered more appropriate to data-processing applications than present patterns of definition. The model consists of a regularised form of the traditional analytical definition by categorising and restricting the modes of description and thereby reducing the free-text element in the defining phrase. The new model should permit automatic prompting and control of the defining activity, highly efficient data storage and greater information extraction in retrieval. The model is currently being tested in a real application.
