The pattern of existing terminological definitions is analysed, and a model for the terminological definition of concepts is proposed that is considered more appropriate to data-processing applications than present patterns of definition. The model consists of a regularised form of the traditional analytical definition by categorising and restricting the modes of description and thereby reducing the free-text element in the defining phrase. The new model should permit automatic prompting and control of the defining activity, highly efficient data storage and greater information extraction in retrieval. The model is currently being tested in a real application.

This paper presents a layered and integrated approach to the SCC system in TT&C area. The SCC system is developed to encapsulate this approach. A four-layer hierarchy is proposed for the SCC system among the following layers: user agent layer, application process layer, lower layer services and support, and hardware. The SCC system includes nine functional components: monitoring and control, data display, command operation, data processing, data storage and management, orbit calculation and analysis, interface computer software, duplex management and time service. The SCC system is implemented as five functional subsystems: data processing system, database management system, operation and control system, and interface computer system. Details of the overall system architecture and the integration of the above components and subsystems are included in the paper.

AbstractThe increasing request for astronomical data processing facilities forces the definition of standards for astronomical application software. Separating the application module from the interfaces to the data processing system allows to identify the standard user interaction interface, the standard data storage interface, the standard dedicated subsystems interface and the standard on-line documentation interface. We tested a tentative integrated solution that fulfills these requirements. This solution includes colour graphics and is available to the astronomical community.

In this system,the literacy controller of SD card by SPI interface is designed based on FPGA.The overall design is realized in Nios II soft processor with C/C++ language,and the technology of First In First Out is used to solve timing problems,and then ultimately the overall design features are realized.This design takes advantages of the features of FPGA,which has reduction in development time,an efficient data processing,and other characteristics.The successful application in data storage collected by the audio chips shows that the design is feasible and valid.

While the definition of administration is all processing activities that start from collecting (receiving), recording, processing, duplicating, minimizing and storing all the information of correspondence needed by the organization. Administration is as an activity to determine everything that happens in the organization, to be used as material for information by the leadership, which includes all activities ranging from manufacturing, managing, structuring to all the preparation of information needed by the organization.

The main objectives of the present paper are to adaptation the five-kinetic model of the catalytic cracking process and simulation the riser to predicts the FCC products yields when one of the major input variable of the process is change. The simulation and adaptation are based on the industrial data from Romanian refinery. The adaptation is realize using a computational method from Optimization Toolbox from Matlab programming language. The new model can be used for optimization and control of FCC riser.

With the attainment of secondary treatment by virtually all municipal discharges in the United States, control of water pollution from combined sewer overflows (CSOs) has assumed a high priority. Accordingly, a national strategy was issued in 1989 which, in 1993, was expanded into a national policy on CSO control. The national policy establishes as an objective the attainment of receiving water quality standards, rather than a design storm/treatment technology based approach. A significant percentage of the CSOs in the U.S. are located along the Ohio River. The states along the Ohio have decided to coordinate their CSO control efforts through the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO). With the Commission assigned the responsibility of developing a monitoring approach which would allow the definition of CSO impacts on the Ohio, research by the Commission found that very little information existed on the monitoring and assessment of large rivers for the determination of CSO impacts. It was therefore necessary to develop a strategy for coordinated efforts by the states, the CSO dischargers, and ORSANCO to identify and apply appropriate monitoring approaches. A workshop was held in June 1993 to receive input from a variety of experts. Taking into account this input, a strategy has been developed which sets forth certain approaches and concepts to be considered in assessing CSO impacts. In addition, the strategy calls for frequent sharing of findings in order that the data collection efforts by the several agencies can be mutually supportive and lead to technically sound answers regarding CSO impacts and control needs.

In this paper, Linear Quadratic (LQ) optimal control concepts are applied for the active control of vibrations in helicopters. The study is based on an identified dynamic model of the rotor. The vibration effect is captured by suitably augmenting the state vector of the rotor model. Then, Kalman filtering concepts can be used to obtain a real-time estimate of the vibration, which is then fed back to form a suitable compensation signal. This design rationale is derived here starting from a rigorous problem position in an optimal control context. Among other things, this calls for a suitable definition of the performance index, of nonstandard type. The application of these ideas to a test helicopter, by means of computer simulations, shows good performances both in terms of disturbance rejection effectiveness and control effort limitation. The performance of the obtained controller is compared with the one achievable by the so called Higher Harmonic Control (HHC) approach, well known within the helicopter community.

Abstract Background/Objective Personal autonomy and control are major concepts for people with life-limiting conditions. Patients who express a wish to die (WTD) are often thought of wanting it because of loss of autonomy or control. The research conducted so far has not focused on personal beliefs and perspectives; and little is known about patients’ understanding of autonomy and control in this context. The aim of this review was to analyze what role autonomy and control may play in relation to the WTD expressed by people with life-limiting conditions. Methods A systematic integrative review was conducted. The search strategy used MeSH terms in combination with free-text searching of the EBSCO Discovery Service (which provides access to multiple academic library literature databases, including PubMed and CINAHL), as well as the large PsycINFO, Scopus, and Web of Science library literature databases from their inception until February 2019. The search was updated to January 2021. Results After the screening process, 85 full texts were included for the final analysis. Twenty-seven studies, recording the experiences of 1,824 participants, were identified. The studies were conducted in Australia (n = 5), Canada (n = 5), USA (n = 5), The Netherlands (n = 3), Spain (n = 2), Sweden (n = 2), Switzerland (n = 2), Finland (n = 1), Germany (n = 1), and the UK (n = 1). Three themes were identified: (1) the presence of autonomy for the WTD, (2) the different ways in which autonomy is conceptualized, and (3) the socio-cultural context of research participants. Significance of results Despite the importance given to the concept of autonomy in the WTD discourse, only a few empirical studies have focused on personal interests. Comprehending the context is crucial because personal understandings of autonomy are shaped by socio-cultural–ethical backgrounds and these impact personal WTD attitudes.
