AbstractThis study investigates the effects of the flipped classroom on Education students’ perceptions of their learning and motivation during the current pandemic. The sample consisted of 179 student teachers from the Faculty of Education of the University of Murcia in the academic year 2020–2021, in which the flipped classroom model was implemented. Identical surveys were administered and examined through both descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests. Statistically significant differences were found between pre-tests and post-tests with experienced students scoring higher on average in the latter. Most students had a positive perception about the flipped classroom, noting the advantage of practical in-class activities, as well as increased self-autonomy in learning.

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between Faculty of Education students’ levels of using cohesive devices and their skills in creating a consistent text. The document review technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was employed in the study. The “Cohesive Devices Evaluation Scale” was employed in determining the coherency factors in the students’ texts, and the “Paragraph Consistency Evaluation Scale” was employed in the evaluation of the consistency of the texts. The study was carried out at the Faculty of Education, Ahi Evran University in the 2014-2015 academic year. The students’ skills in using cohesive devices, elliptical narrative and conjunctive components are varies significantly depending on the department in which they are receiving their education. It is observed that there is a highly significant relationship between the length of the text and coherence and consistency. Again, it is observed that there is a significant relationship in a positive direction between consistency and coherence. A significant relationship at a low level between the students’ skills in creating a consistent text and references, elliptical narrative and substitution of the cohesive devices is also seen.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to understand how the nationality and the sport education system could affect the entrepreneurial intentions (EI) of undergraduate sport science students in two different countries. Design/methodology/approach A total of 249 undergraduate sport sciences (SS) students from Spain and Lithuania were analysed. The EI questioner questionnaire by Liñán and Chen (2009) was used to compile the data during the 2016-2017 academic year. Findings There are significant differences between the sport science students of Spain and Lithuania. The Lithuanian students have significantly higher means in the variables of EI, perceived behaviour control and professional attraction. Moreover, the variables that predict EI are different, and certain path coefficients of the variables are also significantly different. Research limitations/implications The sample originates from one university in each country; therefore, these results may not be generalisable to the entire population. Practical implications The SS degrees in Lithuania and Spain should follow different educational policies with the objective of fostering EI and increasing the number of entrepreneurs. Social implications Creating adequate educational policies to foster entrepreneurship in sports across countries could improve the number of entrepreneurs in the sports sectors; thus, the youth unemployment rate will decrease. Originality/value There has been no previous research that analyses the EI of sport science students across contexts through the theory of planned behaviour. Moreover, there are no studies that compare the EI of university students between Spain (Western Europe) and Lithuania (Eastern Europe).

The study aims to determine the “Geography Literacy” levels of senior year pre-service teachers. To do so, the correlations between geo-literacy on the one hand, and the program the student is enrolled in, the type of settlement the student lived in during secondary education, the type of high school the student graduated from, the student’s travel experience so far, and attitudes towards geography on the other, were assessed. The study was carried out with 4th year pre-service teachers (n=427) enrolled in six programs in the faculty of education, during the fall semester of academic year 2018-2019. The “Geography Literacy Test” developed by Gençtürk (2009) was used as the data collection tool. The data gathered were analyzed through descriptive, independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, chi-square, and Pearson correlation techniques. The study revealed that the geo-literacy levels of pre-service teachers were inadequate. Moreover, the geography literacy levels were found to exhibit significant variance with reference to gender, attitudes, the type of high school, the program the student is enrolled in, and the type of settlement the student lived in during secondary education. The findings were then used as the basis of specific proposals for increasing geo-literacy levels and paving the way for future studies.

This work shows the opinion on the specific training in physical activities in natural environment of the Teaching in Primary Education Students of the Faculty of Education (University of Zaragoza). 208 students were surveyed voluntarily during the 2019/20 academic year. They were students of the two subjects whose contents were object of the survey. The questionnaire used contained a 5-point likert scale. The students answered about the influence of these activities on the acquisition of personal, prosocial and training competencies. The highest scores in transversal competencies corresponded to student involvement (4.41 ±.744), teamwork (4.38 ±.758) and research on the practice itself (4.22 ±.761). Furthermore, respect (4.59 ±.638) and cooperation (4.56 ±.603) were the most valued personal competencies. These issues should serve to guide teachers to redirect a better methodology in their subjects. This work can be extrapolated to any university institution with specific teaching on physical activities in natural environment.

This study aims to investigate the effect of a reflective learning model on students' creative thinking skills. The researcher employed an experimental method and used a one group pre-test and post-test design. The participants were 35 randomly selected college students enrolling in the 2018/2019 academic year, majoring in faculty of education. This study administered Torrance tests of creative thinking (TTCT), figural form B, and the creative activities questionnaire to measure participants' creative thinking skills. The skills involved fluency, originality, and flexibility. The results showed a significant difference (p < 0.001) between the pre-test (M = 30.95) and the post-test (M = 36.05). This suggests that the reflective learning model was statistically effective in improving students' creative thinking skills. Reflective learning is considered to be an appropriate learning method for faculty of education students in higher education.
