The paper deals with the conception of the professional manager. In the current Czech management environment the terms of professionalism and professional manager are not defined, understood and respect properly. The paper was written on the basis of a primary research among 112 middle and top managers in the Czech Republic. The beginning of the paper focuses on the introduction of the method used for the research and then follows the evaluation process of the respondents’ answers. These answers were noticed and transformed into the electronic form for the subsequent evaluation process, which is described in detail in the results part. The categories were stated on the basis of recurrence of the characteristics in the ans­wers, and the frequency of these characteristics was measured. The outcome of the paper is the specification of the term ‘Professionalism’ and the characteristics of the term ‘Professional Manager’ by above mentioned research. The research results are discussed with the literature review in the concluding part, and the opportunities for the further development are given.

Abstract The setting of minimum targets for EU member states to procure green vehicles within two reference periods ending in 2025 and 2030, should help to promote mobility with low, respectively zero emissions. The research results reveal that the V4 countries (Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary) will find it very difficult to meet the set minimum targets for the share of ecological buses in the total number of buses included in the sum of all contracts subject to EU Directive 2019/1161 concluded from 2 August 2021. The share of buses with alternative powertrains in the V4 countries in 2019 was only 12.79% (with the minimum target being much higher). The Nordic countries are best placed to meet the minimum targets for the share of green buses (in 2019, the share of such buses was almost 19%). The crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has and continues to affect bus demand across Europe, may have a significant impact on meeting the minimum targets, especially by the end of the first reference period.

Abstract The subject of this paper is the contemporary use of the circular economy in business practice. The topicality of this theme was the reason for resolving the main objectives, which were to determine how enterprises in the Czech Republic are currently involved in the circular economy. The authors focused on empirical research, the methodological framework of which contains three interrelated parts. The basis was secondary research from scientific databases, which was followed up by the primary research. The objects of the primary research were based on three research questions, which were focused on the use of standardised environmental activities, the identification of tools of the circular economy and determining their importance. The research was evaluated using the methods of content analysis, descriptive and inductive statistics. The research showed that 71 % of enterprises present themselves as taking an active approach to the environment beyond the scope of the statutory obligations. Enterprises then make most use of regulatory tools such as the ISO 14001 standard or Ecodesign. An in-depth interview was used to identify sixteen tools of the circular economy as they are perceived by enterprises. When assessing importance, the highest rated tool was reducing energy consumption in production, waste from production, the consumption of materials, emissions and minimization of waste. Statistically significant differences were also identified with these tools. The research showed that the circular economy is most used in automotive industry enterprise.

The paper Potential of open data in the Czech Republic deals with the current situation of open data government and autonomous institutions in the Czech Republic in comparison with other European Union countries (Great Britain, France, Belgium, Austria, Estonia, ...) and defines the possibilities of open data economic development of the Czech Republic. Methodology of the paper includes a search resources dealing with the issue of open data in the Czech Republic and the European Union, comparing the obtained data, the analysis of obtained data and draft of recommendations for further development. The first part is an evaluation of the current situation and the situation compared with other EU countries. Further conditions for further development and evaluation of the potential of open data for the Czech Republic. The final section of the paper deals with evaluation of possibilities open application data management processes of companies in the Czech Republic in terms of strategic and innovation management. The result is an overview of the potential use of open data in the context of economic development and an estimate of the trend in applications open at the government level.

In the Czech Republic, Knowledge Management-related problems occur at all knowledge stages with difficulties more predominant at an organisational level. In principal, they originate from the lack of an utilisable and detailed KM implementation methodology; varying perceptions of KM coupled with the notion, that KM equates and is limited to information technologies and the like. As a reaction to these problems, the Faculty of Informatics and Management at the University of Hradec Králové (FIM UHK) developed a new KM implementation methodology. It aims to provide interested parties with a set of ground rules distributed among a number of phases. Further development is underway to elaborate the method by integrating project management tools, benchmarking exercises and critical success factors. Despite this endeavour, there is an on-going need for further research given the reality that small and medium sized enterprises constitute the majority of organisations in the Czech Republic.

The paper is focused on findings, if final customers in sell points reflect activities of reverse logistics. Main result of research provides relationship between sell point and reverse activity. The research was aimed at random chosen group of 811 respondents in the Czech Republic. Real participants have been 293, what is effectiveness in 36.13%. The primary research provides possible approaches for companies in sell points within reverse logistics activities to final consumers. To process the results of the questionnaire survey were used basic types of descriptive statistics on the selected data set. The data were processed by using the statistical program IBM SPSS Statistics 24, which was subsequently analysed the dependency between the two nominal variables by means of contingency tables and Pearson's chi-squared test. Limitation for this research is because of the chosen sample and targeting only on Czech Republic.

In their current constitutions, both the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic share common roots owed to their 74-year history of one nation. Following independence, however, there are noticeable differences in the further development of their current constitutions. This article provides an overview of definitions of the parliamentary and the semi-presidential systems of government, explores relevant events and constitutional jurisdiction, and continues with a comparison of the current position of the head of state and its particular competences in both countries. In conclusion, the article states that both the Czech and the Slovak Republic have a clearly parliamentary system of government.

The aim of this paper is to present and analyze opportunities for and barriers to cooperation between private employers and public employment offices in the Czech Republic, from the employers’ perspective. Based on research results, opportunities for cooperation can be seen in attitudes of employment officers towards employers, individualization and differentiation of approaches, better mutual awareness etc., but also in successive changes of some legislative and institutional factors. The barriers to cooperation, on the other hand, can be seen in hardly removable structural factors, such as the structure and characteristics of jobseekers, divergence of goals and lack of mutual interdependence. Abstract E-portfolio is commonly used to support evaluation process in all forms of education. It is considered to be a very useful tool by many professional organisations, working groups, projects and it is the leading topic of many conferences and workshops. These initiatives drive the development of e-portfolio and enhance its using with new technologies in education. By their activities - studies and methodical support - initiatives directly influence governments and especially education practice. The very important result is improving frequency of using eportfolio during learning process and verification of effectiveness of the new technologies. The article offers detailed comparison of e-portfolio initiatives and shows connections and its possible application in the area of the Czech Republic.
