Abstract Heat accumulation in cogenerating plants allows increased electricity production during highest demand period. It also causes change of the overall electricity production. Changes in cogeneration coefficient follow the same trend. This paper examines the effect on the average cogeneration factor caused by adding the heat accumulator to the existing CHP. Variation of this coefficient influences the plant economics, since electrical energy is most expensive during the peak hours. In the model presented the operating conditions vary due to variations in the surroundings temperature and due to cyclical operation of the heat accumulator. Assumptions made, the mathematical model, and numerical method used are also presented.

The article deals with the development of a physical model of a car equipped with measuring, recording and remote control equipment for experimental study of car properties. A detailed description of the design of the physical model and of the electronic modules used is given, links to application libraries and the code of the first part of the program for remote control of the model are given. Atmega microcontroller on the Arduino Uno platform was used to manage the model and register the parameters. When moving the car on the memory card saved such parameters as speed, voltage on the motor, current on the motor, the angle of the steered wheel, acceleration along three coordinate axes are recorded. Use of more powerful microcontrollers will allow to expand the list of the registered parameters of movement of the car. It is possible to measure the forces acting on the elements of the car and other parameters. In the future, it is planned to develop a mathematical model of motion of the car and check its adequacy in conducting experimental studies on maneuverability on the physical model. In addition, it is possible to conduct studies of stability and consumption of electrical energy. The physical model allows to quickly change geometric dimensions and mass parameters. In the study of highway trains, this approach will allow to investigate the various layout schemes of highway trains in the short term. It is possible to make two-axle road trains and saddle towed trains, three-way hitched trains of different layout. The results obtained will allow us to improve not only the mathematical model, but also the experimental physical model, and move on to further study the properties of hybrid road trains with an active trailer link. This approach allows to reduce material and time costs when researching the properties of cars and road trains. Keywords: car, physical model, experiment, road trains, sensor, remote control, maneuverability, stability.

The mathematical model of kinematic wave, that is widely used in hydrological calculations, is generalized to compute processes in deformable channels. Self-similar solutions to the kinematic wave equations, namely, the discontinuous wave of increase and the “simple” wave of decrease are generalized. A numerical method is proposed for solving the kinematic wave equations for deformable channels. The comparison of calculation results with self-similar solutions revealed a good agreement.

The paper is devoted to the simulation of the test complex designed for energy-efficient load testing of induction machines by the method of mutual load with the exchange of electrical energy through the network. It is noted that for other similar test schemes, the mathematical model will have a slightly different form, but it will be identical in terms of asynchronous machines, network and frequency converter. The compiled mathematical model of the test complex allows studying the variable parameters of the system in all elements of the test scheme in static and dynamic modes of operation as well. The synthesized mathematical model can be used to determine the parameters of the equipment in the designed test complexes if the parameters of the test and load machines are known. The results of simulation of the test complex for the given parameters of the test and load induction machines are obtained.

In the present work, the effects of different operating parameters on the performance of a gravity-assisted heat pipe-based indirect evaporative cooler (GAHP-based IEC) were investigated. The aim of the theoretical study is to evaluate accurately the cooling performance indicators, such as the coefficient of performance (COP), wet bulb effectiveness, and cooling capacity. To predict the effectiveness of the air cooler under a variety of conditions, the comprehensive calculation method was adopted. A mathematical model was developed to simulate numerically the heat and mass transfer processes. The mathematical model was validated adequately using experimental data from the literature. Based on the conducted numerical simulations, the most favorable ranges of operating conditions for the GAHP-based IEC were established. Moreover, the conducted studies could contribute to the further development of novel evaporative cooling systems employing gravity-assisted heat pipes as efficient equipment for transferring heat.

Based on the results of actual multi-year measurements of wind speeds, numerical calculations have been made of the forecast energy productions of 43 megawatt-high power stations of the leading world producers in the wind conditions of the North Black Sea region of Ukraine. The established correlation between the annual energy production of wind power station (WPS) and its basic parameters (nameplate capacity, diameter of the rotor and hub height) allowed to develop a mathematical model of the forecast annual energy production of WPS. The calculations for the mathematical model are well in line with the operational parameters of the generation. The mathematical model makes it possible to quickly and reliably select (or design) the optimal wind turbine for industrial wind power in the North Black Sea, thus taking a significant step in reducing the energy dependency, environmental protection and the transition to energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies enabling Ukraine to reach the level of advanced states in the development of wind energy.

A mathematical model and a numerical method for calculating the dynamics of heat and mass transfer, phase transformations and shrinkage during the drying of colloidal capillary-porous cylindrical bodies under conditions of equitable winding by a coolant are developed. The mathematical model was based on the differential equation of substance (energy, mass, impulse) transfer in deformable systems. It includes the equations diffusion-filtration transfer of energy for the system as a whole, and the mass transfer of the liquid, vapor and air phases in the pores of the body. Expressions for the intensity of evaporation of a liquid, capillary pressure, and the diffusion coefficients are presented. The relative volume strain was found by means of an analytical solution of the thermoconcentration deformation equation. Based on the explicit three-layer counting difference scheme and the procedure splitting of algorithm  by physical factors, a numerical method for realizing this mathematical model is developed.Experimental studies of the kinetics of dehydration of energy willow particles in the airflow were carried out to verify the mathematical model. Its applicability for calculating combined processes of drying and of the initial stage of thermal decomposition of biomass is substantiated. Using the previously obtained data on the activation energy values for various types of biomass, a mathematical simulation of the dynamics and kinetics of high-temperature drying in the flue gas flow of energy willow was carried out, which is accompanied by thermal destruction of hemiocellulose. The results of numerical experiments indicate the adequacy of the proposed approach, the effectiveness of the mathematical model and the method of its implementation. On their basis, it is possible to study the dynamics of heat and mass transfer when drying particles of different types of ground biomass; determination of the temperature of the beginning and ending of the first stage of thermal decomposition; the moment when the equilibrium moisture content is reached, depending on the properties of the material and the drying agent. These data allow choosing the process parameters that are optimal in terms of energy saving and quality of the dried product.

Based on the principle that in the deformation zone the length of bore plain wire does not change, a mathematical model of the prefabricated hole for flange-forming of square hole tee pipe is established, for the difficult problem of the flange-forming prefabricated hole size design for square hole tee pipe. To solve the mathematical model, a numerical method and a software system for the mathematical model is established. In order to verify the reliability of the mathematical model and its solution, the method of finite element simulation is applied to verify the mathematical model and the solving system. The results show that the mathematical model constructed in this paper can relatively accurately make calculation of prefabricated hole size for flange-forming of square hole tee pipe.
