Model maturity towards modeling and simulation: Concepts, index system framework and evaluation method

Simulation has become an essential way and sometimes the only way to study complex systems (e.g., system of systems, SoS). Simulation is the model-based activity. How to build a high-quality model is the first consideration in simulation. Fidelity and credibility are the two mostly used metrics to evaluate the quality of a model. However, the definitions and evaluation methods of fidelity and credibility vary from one research to another and it’s hard to evaluate the metrics precisely. More importantly, the evolution process of a model in use cannot be directly reflected by the two metrics. Therefore, this paper introduces the model maturity to track the status of a model during its life cycle, especially in the use and management phases, which will be an important supplement to the quality evaluation system of models. The concept of model maturity is given and a framework of index system for model maturity evaluation is established. Then, a hierarchical evaluation method based on qualitative and quantitative analysis (HEQQ) for model maturity is proposed. Finally, a case study is used to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

How to evaluate the teaching quality of Chinese teacher objectively is an important subject of each university. In view of the shortage of classroom teaching quality evaluation, AHP model is introduced to evaluate the quality of TCFL, and an Chinese teaching quality evaluation system is established. Based on the evaluation content and standard of the system, combined with the the principle of AHP and expert investigation method, a judgment matrix is established, and the weight of each index to the total target is calculated. The comprehensive weight of each index and evaluation object score are multiplied, through a series of calculation, the teachers comprehensive scores can be obtained so as to evaluate the teaching quality. The results show that it is very scientific and objective to evaluate Chinese classroom teaching quality by using AHP model, it is a feasible evaluation method and has higher application value.

Due to the particularity of the artificial intelligence major and the machine learning courses learned, the traditional course teaching model is not suitable for artificial intelligence major machine learning courses. Based on this background, this article proposes a new system based on machine learning curriculum teaching reform. It mainly includes the reform of curriculum teaching mode, curriculum practice reform, and teaching process reform. In order to verify the effect of the proposed new model on the teaching quality of machine learning courses, this article also proposes an evaluation method based on intelligent technology. Firstly, the feasibility of evaluation based on intelligent technology is described. Secondly, it lists the application details of the existing teaching evaluation based on intelligent technology. Finally, a novel teaching quality evaluation system based on intelligent technology is proposed. The system collects student facial expression data and uses classification algorithms to make classification decisions on the data. The result of the decision can give feedback on the quality of classroom teaching. The comparison of experiments based on different intelligent technologies shows that the teaching quality evaluation system proposed in this article is feasible and effective.

The assessment of teaching quality is a very complex and fuzzy nonlinear process, which involves many factors and variables, so the establishment of the mathematical model is complicated, and the traditional evaluation method of teaching quality is no longer fully competent. In order to evaluate teaching quality effectively and accurately, an optimized GA-BPNN algorithm based on genetic algorithm (GA) and backpropagation neural network (BPNN) is proposed. Firstly, an index system of teaching quality evaluation is established, and a questionnaire is designed according to the index system to collect data. Then, an English teaching quality evaluation system is established by optimizing model parameters. The simulation shows that the average evaluation accuracy of the GA-BPNN algorithm is 98.56%, which is 13.23% and 5.85% higher than those of the BPNN model and the optimized BPNN model, respectively. The comparison results show that the GA-BPNN algorithm in teaching quality evaluation can make reasonable and scientific results.

AbstractIn order to protect the offshore environment and strengthen the comprehensive rectification of sewage outfalls, an evaluation method of regional sewage outfalls by combining the marine numerical simulation and comprehensive evaluation technology was constructed, considering the marine environmental capacity and the ecological impact of sewage discharge from outfalls on the marine eco-environment sensitive areas. Then the layout rationality of each outfall was evaluated and the discharge scale was optimized with a case study of existing sewage outfalls in Xiamen. The results show that, the comprehensive evaluation score of Yundang outfall was 3 points in 2025, evaluated as the outfall with irrational layout. In 2035, the comprehensive evaluation scores of Fenglin and Dalipu outfalls were 3 and 2 points respectively, evaluated as the outfall with irrational discharge scale. It is suggested to control the scale of expansion or increase the reclaimed water reuse rate in Jimei and Gaoqi Wastewater Treatment Plants. This method has enriched the evaluation system for layout optimization of sewage outfalls, providing scientific supports for comprehensive improvement of sewage outfalls and marine environmental management.

There are two major problems in the evaluation of the teaching quality of English writing: the weak logic of the evaluation system and the low reliability of the evaluation model. To solve the problems, this paper put forward an evaluation method for the teaching quality of English writing based on the analytical hierarchy process (AHP). Firstly, the authors reviewed the current evaluation methods for the teaching quality of English writing. Next, hierarchical evaluation systems were established for the teaching quality of English writing from the perspectives of teachers and students, respectively. After that, the AHP method and the grey theory were introduced to set up an evaluation model for the teaching quality of English writing. Finally, several strategies were presented to improve the teaching quality of English writing. The proposed evaluation systems and model enriched the theories on teaching quality evaluation of English writing, and promoted the teaching quality of English writing.

Furniture products are the main sources of indoor air pollution due to the emission of formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). It is great significant to establish a scientific certification and evaluation system to promote furniture manufacturers to reduce the harmful substances release in furniture products and protect human health in China. This paper describes an investigation on release of formaldehyde, soluble heavy metals, benzene, toluene, xylene and other substances from 28 furniture products by dryer method and environmental chamber method. Studies on current development status of certification and evaluation of harmful substance release from furniture products in China were carried out. Case study of certification and evaluation method suitable for furniture production industry was made, and the existing problems and suggestions were provided for improvement of certification and evaluation method system based on the characteristics of furniture industry.

For making timely and correct decisions for emergent pollution emergency of the water environment, combined with fuzzy integrated evaluation method, the model for the evaluation of emergency is established. Qinghe river basin is estimated in 3-level fuzzy integrated evaluation from 6 aspects. The results show that the score of emergent pollution emergency of the water environment of Qinghe river assessment is 3.9273,which close to a good level. The capacity of emergency support and emergency response is superior, and the abilities of emergency prevention, emergency decision-making and emergency recovery are relatively general, which should be completed.Emergent pollution emergency of the water environment is affected by many factors, a multi-target integrated evaluation system should be established. At present, the emergent pollution emergency system of water environment in our country still needs to be improved, the construction of which started relatively late, and the evaluation of which is at the exploration stage. To find the existing problems and shortcomings in emergency system of emergent pollution in water environment, the emergency evaluation index system is established, which improve the water environmental pollution emergency system. However, most of the indicators building the index system are qualitative, which has certain fuzziness when being estimated. Meanwhile it exists certain fuzziness when expressing characterizing attributes of the degree of realization and level of most evaluation indicators, and it is difficult to use specific, accurate data for quantitative description, generally it is expressed by fuzzy degree concepts like ‘Excellent, good, medium, qualified, bad’ and so on. Therefore, the emergent pollution of water environment is estimated by fuzzy integrated evaluation method in this paper.

The evaluation system about comprehensive quality of music graduated students was introduced in the paper. The methods of AHP were proposed to optimize evaluation system model. Meanwhile, the evaluation index system of the comprehensive quality of music graduate students is established. Then, the model was established and the solving was given according to the construction of evaluation index system principles. AHP is proposed to establish the weight of evaluation based on the receipt questionnaire survey from related experts. In the end, a example provided demonstrates the application in choice of the best student and it was proved that methods proposed is efficient to solve the optimization problems about the more complex, more fuzzy the decision management.

In order to make a reasonable evaluation of highway traffic safety facilities, a comprehensive evaluation method based on set pair analysis was proposed. An evaluation system of freeway traffic safety facilities was established. Combined with relevant norms and standards, each indicator in the evaluation system was divided and a reasonable threshold has been set. Through the calculation of the connection degree of ‘identicalness, differentness and reverse’, the maximum connection degree criterion was used to judge the evaluation results of freeway traffic safety facilities. Finally a case study was conducted to verify the proposed evaluation method. The case study shows that the selected highway traffic safety facilities are at a good level and this method can provide scientific decision basis for highway traffic facility renovation.
