Fraud detection is one of the core issues of loan risk control, which aims to detect fraudulent loan applications and safeguard the property of both individuals and organizations. Because of its close relevance to the security of financial operations, fraud detection has received widespread attention from industry. In recent years, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, an automatic feature engineering method that can help to generate features has been applied to fraud detection with good results. However, in car loan fraud detection, the existing methods do not satisfy the requirements because of overreliance on behavioral features. To tackle this issue, this paper proposed an optimized deep feature synthesis (DFS) method in the automatic feature engineering scheme to improve the car loan fraud detection. Problems like feature dimension explosion, low interpretability, long training time, and low detection accuracy are solved by compressing abstract and uninterpretable features to limit the depth of DFS algorithm. Experiments are developed based on actual car loan credit database to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme. Compared with traditional automatic feature engineering methods, the number of features and training time are reduced by 92.5% and 54.3%, respectively, whereas accuracy is improved by 23%. The experiment demonstrates that our scheme effectively improved the existing automatic feature engineering car loan fraud detection methods.

AbstractThis article mainly focuses on the most common types of high-speed railways malfunctions in overhead contact systems, namely, unstressed droppers, foreign-body invasions, and pole number-plate malfunctions, to establish a deep-network detection model. By fusing the feature maps of the shallow and deep layers in the pretraining network, global and local features of the malfunction area are combined to enhance the network's ability of identifying small objects. Further, in order to share the fully connected layers of the pretraining network and reduce the complexity of the model, Tucker tensor decomposition is used to extract features from the fused-feature map. The operation greatly reduces training time. Through the detection of images collected on the Lanxin railway line, experiments result show that the proposed multiview Faster R-CNN based on tensor decomposition had lower miss probability and higher detection accuracy for the three types faults. Compared with object-detection methods YOLOv3, SSD, and the original Faster R-CNN, the average miss probability of the improved Faster R-CNN model in this paper is decreased by 37.83%, 51.27%, and 43.79%, respectively, and average detection accuracy is increased by 3.6%, 9.75%, and 5.9%, respectively.

With the rapid development of computation technologies, swarm intelligence–based algorithms become an innovative technique used for addressing structural damage detection issues, but traditional swarm intelligence–based structural damage detection methods often face with insufficient detection accuracy and lower robustness to noise. As an exploring attempt, a novel structural damage detection method is proposed to tackle the above deficiency via combining weighted strategy with trace least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (Lasso). First, an objective function is defined for the structural damage detection optimization problem by using structural modal parameters; a weighted strategy and the trace Lasso are also involved into the objection function. A novel antlion optimizer algorithm is then employed as a solution solver to the structural damage detection optimization problem. To assess the capability of the proposed structural damage detection method, two numerical simulations and a series of laboratory experiments are performed, and a comparative study on effects of different parameters, such as weighted coefficients, regularization parameters and damage patterns, on the proposed structural damage detection methods are also carried out. Illustrated results show that the proposed structural damage detection method via combining weighted strategy with trace Lasso is able to accurately locate structural damages and quantify damage severities of structures.

With the rapid development of the marine industry, intelligent ship detection plays a very important role in the marine traffic safety and the port management. Current detection methods mainly focus on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, which is of great significance to the field of ship detection. However, these methods sometimes cannot meet the real-time requirement. To solve the problems, a novel ship detection network based on SSD (Single Shot Detector), named NSD-SSD, is proposed in this paper. Nowadays, the surveillance system is widely used in the indoor and outdoor environment, and its combination with deep learning greatly promotes the development of intelligent object detection and recognition. The NSD-SSD uses visual images captured by surveillance cameras to achieve real-time detection and further improves detection performance. First, dilated convolution and multiscale feature fusion are combined to improve the small objects’ performance and detection accuracy. Second, an improved prediction module is introduced to enhance deeper feature extraction ability of the model, and the mean Average Precision (mAP) and recall are significant improved. Finally, the prior boxes are reconstructed by using the K-means clustering algorithm, the Intersection-over-Union (IoU) is higher, and the visual effect is better. The experimental results based on ship images show that the mAP and recall can reach 89.3% and 93.6%, respectively, which outperforms the representative model (Faster R-CNN, SSD, and YOLOv3). Moreover, our model’s FPS is 45, which can meet real-time detection acquirement well. Hence, the proposed method has the better overall performance and achieves higher detection efficiency and better robustness.

PurposeThe best algorithm that was implemented on this Brazilian dataset was artificial immune system (AIS) algorithm. But the time and cost of this algorithm are high. Using asexual reproduction optimization (ARO) algorithm, the authors achieved better results in less time. So the authors achieved less cost in a shorter time. Their framework addressed the problems such as high costs and training time in credit card fraud detection. This simple and effective approach has achieved better results than the best techniques implemented on our dataset so far. The purpose of this paper is to detect credit card fraud using ARO.Design/methodology/approachIn this paper, the authors used ARO algorithm to classify the bank transactions into fraud and legitimate. ARO is taken from asexual reproduction. Asexual reproduction refers to a kind of production in which one parent produces offspring identical to herself. In ARO algorithm, an individual is shown by a vector of variables. Each variable is considered as a chromosome. A binary string represents a chromosome consisted of genes. It is supposed that every generated answer exists in the environment, and because of limited resources, only the best solution can remain alive. The algorithm starts with a random individual in the answer scope. This parent reproduces the offspring named bud. Either the parent or the offspring can survive. In this competition, the one which outperforms in fitness function remains alive. If the offspring has suitable performance, it will be the next parent, and the current parent becomes obsolete. Otherwise, the offspring perishes, and the present parent survives. The algorithm recurs until the stop condition occurs.FindingsResults showed that ARO had increased the AUC (i.e. area under a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve), sensitivity, precision, specificity and accuracy by 13%, 25%, 56%, 3% and 3%, in comparison with AIS, respectively. The authors achieved a high precision value indicating that if ARO detects a record as a fraud, with a high probability, it is a fraud one. Supporting a real-time fraud detection system is another vital issue. ARO outperforms AIS not only in the mentioned criteria, but also decreases the training time by 75% in comparison with the AIS, which is a significant figure.Originality/valueIn this paper, the authors implemented the ARO in credit card fraud detection. The authors compared the results with those of the AIS, which was one of the best methods ever implemented on the benchmark dataset. The chief focus of the fraud detection studies is finding the algorithms that can detect legal transactions from the fraudulent ones with high detection accuracy in the shortest time and at a low cost. That ARO meets all these demands.

Object detection plays an important role in many computer vision applications. Innovative object detection methods based on deep learning such as Faster R-CNN, YOLO, and SSD have achieved state-of the-art results in terms of detection accuracy. There have been few studies to date on object detection with the addition of new classes, however, though this problem is often encountered in the industry. Therefore, this issue has important research significance and practical value. On the premise that the old class samples are available, a method of reserving nodes in advance in the output layer (RNOL) was established in this study. Experiments show that RNOL can achieve high detection accuracy in both new and old classes over a short training time while outperforming the traditional fine-tuning method.

Human operators often diagnose industrial machinery via anomalous sounds. Given the new advances in the field of machine learning, automated acoustic anomaly detection can lead to reliable maintenance of machinery. However, deep learning-driven anomaly detection methods often require an extensive amount of computational resources prohibiting their deployment in factories. Here we explore a machine-driven design exploration strategy to create OutlierNets, a family of highly compact deep convolutional autoencoder network architectures featuring as few as 686 parameters, model sizes as small as 2.7 KB, and as low as 2.8 million FLOPs, with a detection accuracy matching or exceeding published architectures with as many as 4 million parameters. The architectures are deployed on an Intel Core i5 as well as a ARM Cortex A72 to assess performance on hardware that is likely to be used in industry. Experimental results on the model’s latency show that the OutlierNet architectures can achieve as much as 30x lower latency than published networks.

There is a growing interest in safety warning of underground mining due to the huge threat being faced by those working in underground mining. Data acquisition of sensors based on Internet of Things (IoT) is currently the main method, but the data anomaly detection and analysis of multi-sensors is a challenging task: firstly, the data that are collected by different sensors of underground mining are heterogeneous; secondly, real-time is required for the data anomaly detection of safety warning. Currently, there are many anomaly detection methods, such as traditional clustering methods K-means and C-means. Meanwhile, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is widely used in data analysis and prediction. However, K-means and C-means cannot directly process heterogeneous data, and AI algorithms require equipment with high computing and storage capabilities. IoT equipment of underground mining cannot perform complex calculation due to the limitation of energy consumption. Therefore, many existing methods cannot be directly used for IoT applications in underground mining. In this paper, a multi-sensors data anomaly detection method based on edge computing is proposed. Firstly, an edge computing model is designed, and according to the computing capabilities of different types of devices, anomaly detection tasks are migrated to different edge devices, which solve the problem of insufficient computing capabilities of the devices. Secondly, according to the requirements of different anomaly detection tasks, edge anomaly detection algorithms for sensor nodes and sink nodes are designed respectively. Lastly, an experimental platform is built for performance comparison analysis, and the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance in anomaly detection accuracy, delay, and energy consumption.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has become one of the important technical means of marine monitoring in the field of remote sensing due to its all-day, all-weather advantage. National territorial waters to achieve ship monitoring is conducive to national maritime law enforcement, implementation of maritime traffic control, and maintenance of national maritime security, so ship detection has been a hot spot and focus of research. After the development from traditional detection methods to deep learning combined methods, most of the research always based on the evolving Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) computing power to propose more complex and computationally intensive strategies, while in the process of transplanting optical image detection ignored the low signal-to-noise ratio, low resolution, single-channel and other characteristics brought by the SAR image imaging principle. Constantly pursuing detection accuracy while ignoring the detection speed and the ultimate application of the algorithm, almost all algorithms rely on powerful clustered desktop GPUs, which cannot be implemented on the frontline of marine monitoring to cope with the changing realities. To address these issues, this paper proposes a multi-channel fusion SAR image processing method that makes full use of image information and the network’s ability to extract features; it is also based on the latest You Only Look Once version 4 (YOLO-V4) deep learning framework for modeling architecture and training models. The YOLO-V4-light network was tailored for real-time and implementation, significantly reducing the model size, detection time, number of computational parameters, and memory consumption, and refining the network for three-channel images to compensate for the loss of accuracy due to light-weighting. The test experiments were completed entirely on a portable computer and achieved an Average Precision (AP) of 90.37% on the SAR Ship Detection Dataset (SSDD), simplifying the model while ensuring a lead over most existing methods. The YOLO-V4-lightship detection algorithm proposed in this paper has great practical application in maritime safety monitoring and emergency rescue.

Defect detection of electromagnetic luminescence (EL) cells is the core step in the production and preparation of solar cell modules to ensure conversion efficiency and long service life of batteries. However, due to the lack of feature extraction capability for small feature defects, the traditional single shot multibox detector (SSD) algorithm performs not well in EL defect detection with high accuracy. Consequently, an improved SSD algorithm with modification in feature fusion in the framework of deep learning is proposed to improve the recognition rate of EL multi-class defects. A dataset containing images with four different types of defects through rotation, denoising, and binarization is established for the EL. The proposed algorithm can greatly improve the detection accuracy of the small-scale defect with the idea of feature pyramid networks. An experimental study on the detection of the EL defects shows the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Moreover, a comparison study shows the proposed method outperforms other traditional detection methods, such as the SIFT, Faster R-CNN, and YOLOv3, in detecting the EL defect.

With the rapid development of commercial credit mechanisms, credit funds have become fundamental in promoting the development of manufacturing corporations. However, large-scale, imbalanced credit application information poses a challenge to accurate bankruptcy predictions. A novel multi-stage ensemble model with fuzzy clustering and optimized classifier composition is proposed herein by combining the fuzzy clustering-based classifier selection method, the random subspace (RS)-based classifier composition method, and the genetic algorithm (GA)-based classifier compositional optimization method to achieve accuracy in predicting bankruptcy among corporates. To overcome the inherent inflexibility of traditional hard clustering methods, a new fuzzy clustering-based classifier selection method is proposed based on the mini-batch k-means algorithm to obtain the best performing base classifiers for generating classifier compositions. The RS-based classifier composition method was applied to enhance the robustness of candidate classifier compositions by randomly selecting several subspaces in the original feature space. The GA-based classifier compositional optimization method was applied to optimize the parameters of the promising classifier composition through the iterative mechanism of the GA. Finally, six datasets collected from the real world were tested with four evaluation indicators to assess the performance of the proposed model. The experimental results showed that the proposed model outperformed the benchmark models with higher predictive accuracy and efficiency.
