A generic video telephony may require more than 40 kbps whereas a low motion video telephony may require about 25 kbps for data transmission. From the designing point of view these requirements demands for an alternative resource planning, especially for bandwidth allocation in wireless networks. In wireless network where bandwidth is a scare resource, the system may need to block incoming user if all of the bandwidth has been used to provide highest quality of service to existing users. However this bandwidth resource planning may be unacceptable for larger application. This work aims towards a realization of a mobile network using W-CDMA multi access technique supporting multilevel quality of services. The bandwidth allocation to multiple users is adjusted dynamically according to the required network condition so as to increase bandwidth utilization. The work analyzes the performance deriving the degradation period ratio, mean degradation time and degradation state for the implemented wireless network. The proposed work is aim to implement on Matlab tool for its functional verification considering various mobility patterns.

<p class="0abstract">The continuous advancements in wireless network systems have reshaped the healthcare systems towards using emerging communication technologies at different levels. This paper makes two major contributions. Firstly, a new monitoring and tracking wireless system is developed to handle the COVID-19 spread problem. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), i.e., drones, are used as base stations as well as data collection points from Internet of Things (IoT) devices on the ground. These UAVs are also able to exchange data with other UAVs and cloud servers. Secondly, this paper introduces a new reinforcement learning (RL) framework for learning the optimal signal-aware UAV trajectories under quality of service constraints. The proposed RL algorithm is instrumental in making the UAV movement decisions that maximize the signal power at the receiver and the data collected from the ground agents. Simulation experiments confirm that the system overcomes conventional wireless monitoring systems and demonstrates efficiency especially in terms of flexible continues connectivity, line-of sight visibility, and collision avoidance.</p>

The unpredictable nature of the wireless network and exponential growth in traffics with different quality of service requirements has led hardware complexity to escalate. In order to effectively control and manage the network traffics, there is a need for intelligent call admission control (CAC) in admitting traffics into the wireless network that provides necessary quality of service. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy logic partition-based call admission control (FZ CAC). The scheme primarily partitions the total link bandwidth into three which corresponds to constant bit rate (CBR), variable bit rate (VBR) and handover (HO) services. The fuzzy logic admission control scheme was implemented in the HO portion to intelligently keep dropping probability as low as possible based on the available bandwidth. Simulation results showed that the proposed approach outperformed both partition-based CAC (PB CAC) and conventional bandwidth allocation CAC (CB CAC).

This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the architectures, algorithms, and protocols in the topic of resource management in IEEE 802.11-based wireless networks such as wireless LANs, heterogeneous wired/wireless networks, mobile ad hoc networks, and wireless mesh networks. The focus is given to the approaches for bandwidth allocation in different networks as well as how these strategies are incorporated in each specific protocol. Although the issues of resource management and quality of service support in different networks highly depend on the specific network architectures and mobility patterns, existing works in the literature have shown that the key issue in 802.11 networks is how to coordinate the contention based channel access by considering channel rates, network topology, interference, and mobility. With successful resource allocation schemes, sufficient quality of services can be supported to maximize user experiences with multimedia applications such as voice and video in wireless networks.

Wireless Mesh Network (MWN) could be divided into proactive routing, reactive routing and hybrid routing, which must satisfy the requirements related to scalability, reliability, flexibility, throughput, load balancing, congestion control and efficiency. DMN (Directional Mesh Network) become more adaptive to the local environments and robust to spectrum changes. The existing computing units in the mesh network systems are Fog nodes, the DMN architecture is more economic and efficient since it doesn’t require architecture- level changes from existing systems. The cluster head (CH) manages a group of nodes such that the network has the hierarchical structure for the channel access, routing and bandwidth allocation. The feature extraction and situational awareness is conducted, each Fog node sends the information regarding the current situation to the cluster head in the contextual format. A Markov logic network (MLN) based reasoning engine is utilized for the final routing table updating regarding the system uncertainty and complexity.

Networking connectivity is increasingly based on wireless network technologies, especially in developing nations where the wired network infrastructure is not accessible to a large segment of the population. Wireless data network technologies based on 2G and 3G are quite common globally; 4G-based deployments are on the rise during the past few years. At the same time, the increasing high-bandwidth and low-latency requirements of mobile applications has propelled the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standards organization to develop standards for the next generation of mobile networks, based on recent advances in wireless communication technologies. This standard is called the Fifth Generation (5G) wireless network standard. This paper presents a high-level overview of the important architectural components, of the advanced communication technologies, of the advanced networking technologies such as Network Function Virtualization and other important aspects that are part of the 5G network standards. The paper also describes some of the common future generation applications that require low-latency and high-bandwidth communications.

Quality prediction plays an essential role in the business outcome of the product. Due to the business interest of the concept, it has extensively been studied in the last few years. Advancement in machine learning (ML) techniques and with the advent of robust and sophisticated ML algorithms, it is required to analyze the factors influencing the success of the movies. This paper presents a hybrid features prediction model based on pre-released and social media data features using multiple ML techniques to predict the quality of the pre-released movies for effective business resource planning. This study aims to integrate pre-released and social media data features to form a hybrid features-based movie quality prediction (MQP) model. The proposed model comprises of two different experimental models; (i) predict movies quality using the original set of features and (ii) develop a subset of features based on principle component analysis technique to predict movies success class. This work employ and implement different ML-based classification models, such as Decision Tree (DT), Support Vector Machines with the linear and quadratic kernel (L-SVM and Q-SVM), Logistic Regression (LR), Bagged Tree (BT) and Boosted Tree (BOT), to predict the quality of the movies. Different performance measures are utilized to evaluate the performance of the proposed ML-based classification models, such as Accuracy (AC), Precision (PR), Recall (RE), and F-Measure (FM). The experimental results reveal that BT and BOT classifiers performed accurately and produced high accuracy compared to other classifiers, such as DT, LR, LSVM, and Q-SVM. The BT and BOT classifiers achieved an accuracy of 90.1% and 89.7%, which shows an efficiency of the proposed MQP model compared to other state-of-art- techniques. The proposed work is also compared with existing prediction models, and experimental results indicate that the proposed MQP model performed slightly better compared to other models. The experimental results will help the movies industry to formulate business resources effectively, such as investment, number of screens, and release date planning, etc.

Abstract Community mobility in older adults is important for maintaining health, quality of life and social participation. Globally, older adults who are non-drivers, access their community through various modes of transport to maintain community mobility. This international cross-sectional cohort study (n=246) explored the mobility patterns of older adults and examined their access to out-of-home activities and health related quality of life in seven countries. Quality of life was determined using EQ-5D-5L and was generally high among all participants. Findings from the study indicate that a complex myriad of factors influence safe transport mobility in older adults. Results suggested that inclement weather and place of residence negatively impacted access to out-of-home activities, yet these factors but did not increase use of public transport. Given the complexity of transportation use and mobility patterns in older adults, an individualised approach may be necessary to keep older adults connected to their out-of-home activities.
