Considering the population aging and the failure of biologistic and hospital-based treatment model, health promotion programs based on scientific evidence are necessary. A comprehensive review of literature was performed, aiming to identify and analyze health promotion and education experiments focused on the aging process. Papers published in eight databases, together with the database of the Pan-American Health Organization, were selected based on review of titles and abstracts, followed by a full text review conducted by two independent reviewers. A total of 22 studies were included, the majority of which adopted a quantitative approach, with a sample larger than 100 elderly or pre-retirement individuals. The majority of studies reported positive results in terms of health promotion and education. One study obtained minimum improvement and one reported that no statistically significant improvement had occurred. The positive effects most indicated by authors were: general or self-perceived improvement in physical health, improvement in psychosocial aspects and in relation to the aging process, improvement in adherence to preventative actions and in healthy conduct and lifestyle, increase in level of physical activity, improvement in quality of life and/or physical well-being, and improvement in activities of daily living or reduction of the risk of developing disabilities.

Animal-assisted intervention is an intervention method that is shaped on the basis of human-animal relationships and is defined as the use of animals to solve people's problems. The use of animal support, especially in integrated interventions, is becoming increasingly widespread throughout the world, with the effect of scientific evidence. This method can also be used as a social work intervention in disadvantaged groups such as victims of violence, children at risk, victims of trauma, prisoners, elderly people, and people with disabilities. However, there is no study on the use of this intervention in the field of social work in our country. Therefore, the aim of this study is to present a review of the use of animal-based interventions in social work practice, which has been proven in various studies to have positive effects in improving, developing and maintaining physical, psychological and social well-being. In order to reach this aim, the historical process, definition and benefits of animal-assisted therapy and animal-assisted intervention are emphasized. Later, the theoretical foundations of the animal-assisted interventions, their use in social work interventions and the role of social workers in these team work required interventions are revealed.  ÖzetHayvan destekli müdahale insan-hayvan ilişkisi temelinde şekillenen, insanların problemlerini çözme amacıyla hayvanların kullanımı olarak tanımlanan bir müdahale yöntemidir. Bilimsel kanıtların da etkisi ile özellikle bütüncül müdahalelerde hayvan desteğinden yararlanma, tüm dünyada giderek yaygınlaşmaktadır. Bu yöntem, şiddet mağdurları, risk altındaki çocuklar, travma mağdurları, mahkumlar, yaşlılar, engelliler gibi dezavantajlı gruplarda sosyal çalışma müdahalesi olarak da kullanılmaktadır.  Bununla birlikte ülkemizde sosyal çalışma alanında bu müdahale hakkında herhangi bir çalışma bulunmamaktadır. Bu nedenle bu çalışmanın amacı, fiziksel, psikolojik ve sosyal sağlığın iyileştirilmesi, geliştirilmesi ve korunmasında olumlu etkileri çeşitli araştırmalarla kanıtlanmış olan hayvan destekli müdahalenin sosyal çalışma uygulamalarında kullanımına ilişkin bir derleme sunmaktır. Bu amaca ulaşabilmek için, önce hayvan destekli tedavi ve hayvan destekli müdahalenin tarihsel süreci, tanımı ve yararları üzerinde durulmuştur. Daha sonra hayvan destekli müdahalelerin teorik çerçevesi, sosyal çalışma müdahalelerinde kullanımı ve ekip çalışması gerektiren bu müdahalelerde sosyal çalışmacıların rollerinin ne olduğu ortaya konmuştur.

Current scientific evidence supports the recommendation to initiate or continue the practice of physical exercise in healthy pregnant women. Group exercise programs have positive effects in improving health and well-being, as well as social support. In order to understand the scientific evidence in this field, and the outcomes in maternal health, it has generated wide interest in exploring the studies carried out with more relevant group exercise programs. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the available evidence on the effectiveness of group exercise programs in improving women’s and newborns health outcomes during pregnancy. Three databases were used to conduct literature searches and strict inclusion and exclusion criteria were employed. Seventeen studies were selected for analysis. All studies were randomized control trials conducted with pregnant women that evaluated the effect of group exercise programs on the health outcomes of mother and newborn. Most studies followed a supervised structured exercise program including a main aerobic part, resistance training, pelvic floor training and stretching and relaxation sections. The significant effects of the programs are related with improved maternal perception of health status, lower maternal weight gain, improved levels of maternal glucose tolerance, improved aerobic fitness and muscular strength, lower frequency of urinary incontinence, improved sick leave due to lumbopelvic pain, fewer cesarean and instrumental deliveries, higher newborn Apgar score and faster postpartum recovery. Exercise and health professionals should advise pregnant women that aerobic group exercise during pregnancy improves a wide range of health outcomes for the women and newborns.

Multiple positive effects that forests have on human health and overall well-being have been reported widely in the literature. Still, multiple elements of this relationship remain unidentified and unexplained. In this study, the composition of leaf volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) content in three common coniferous species: the Austrian pine (Pinus nigra), Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and Spruce (Picea abies), was analyzed. The specificity of BVOCs content in the examined species and their genotypes is observed as a plant potential to evaporate these organic compounds and potentially improve human health and well-being. Principal component analysis applied on BVOCs content among species showed significant differences between compounds that have previously been characterized as having positive effects on human health by acting as anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial. Variations among genotypes of the investigated species were observed in the content of BVOCs relevant for human health improvement, such as limonene, terpinolene, β-pinene, linalool, camphene, camphor, citronellol and α-cadinol. The observed intra- and inter-species variations in the BVOCs content provide an appropriate base for further research on the forest–human health relationship, breeding and selection of the most suitable genotypes for human health improvement, and could I mpact the sustainable management of forests.

Two hundred forty-two students, including 76 college students and 166 university students from Canadian post-secondary schools, participated in a pre-post study of the effects of animal-assisted activities on their stress, happiness, and well-being. Findings showed that those students who had recently experienced a negative event showed significantly greater positive effects of the animal-assisted activities on all three dependent variables when compared with other students, although all students benefitted from participating in terms of desired effects on their stress, happiness, and well-being. In keeping with Keyes’ model of mental wellness, these school-based, animal-assisted activities are supported as low-cost, low-stigma, universal approaches to mental health promotion.

Introduction: Deterioration of students’ health, the absence of scientific substantiation of consistent actions, key directions and indicators of work of comprehensive schools in the sphere of health protection of participants in the educational process determine the purpose of the study to give a rationale for the algorithm and model of creating a common health promoting school environment. Materials and methods: The study was carried out in four directions: 1) study of health promoting activities in modern schools; 2) analysis of indicators of socio-psychological climate of schools; 3) study of the lifestyle, work pressure and schedule, health status and psychological well-being of teachers; and 4) study of foreign instruments for assessing health promotion interventions at schools. The objects of the study included comprehensive schools, schoolchildren, teachers, and foreign instruments for assessing health promotion interventions at schools. The research materials were statistically processed by nonparametric methods using Statistica 13.3 software. Results: Most of the surveyed Russian schools are at the initial stages of developing health promoting frameworks. Based on the expert statistical analysis of health promotion interventions of Russian schools at different levels of development and having different achievements in the field of preventive activities, effective directions and specific indicators for assessing results at each stage of creating a common preventive environment in a comprehensive school were identified and substantiated. Conclusions: An algorithm and a model of a common preventive school environment consisting of seven components have been developed and a system for its monitoring by key indicators, the subjects and objects of which are students, their parents and teachers, has been substantiated. The results of health promoting activities at school include health improvement in schoolchildren and teachers, their emotional well-being, a decreased prevalence of behavioral risk factors, and improvement of knowledge and skills in relation to health and of the academic performance of students.

During the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people with disabilities living in care facilities could not receive visitors. The use of virtual social contact has been recommended by health authorities such as the World Health Organization. This systematic review examined the scientific evidence of the use and feasibility of information and communication technology (ICT) for social contact by people with intellectual disabilities living in care facilities, and potential effects on well-being.

Orofacial Harmonization (HOF) that has already been recognized as a dental specialty by the Brazilian Federal Council of Dentistry (CFO) through the resolution CFO-198/2019, has been showing considerable advances in health promotion and reestablishment of a complete physical, mental and social well-being of the individual. Also, it makes efforts in an attempt to strengthen and improve the biosafety protocols presented by the World Health Organization (WHO). The undertakings carried out by the government and health authorities are notorious in an attempt to adapt to the new reality presented by this pandemic caused by COVID-19. However, we cannot deny the negligence of these same authorities of not inserting this specialty as part of the essential care for the population, as the HOF is able of providing numerous benefits, as well as the dentist who was left in the gloom in its origin as a health promoting agent. In the present study, updated biosafety protocols will be shown, and also the importance of adding the inherent technologies of HOF and all the knowledge and proficiency of dentistry professionals in an attempt to concretize the real concept of health, benefiting the population that is desolated and terrified in this new post-COVID world.

Anjuran World Health Organization (WHO) agar ibu menyusui minimal selama 6 bulan masih belum tercapai. Studi ini bertujuan untuk meneliti kekuatan psikologis ibu yang berhasil menyusui lebih dari 6 bulan. Metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dilakukan pada enam ibu yang diambil secara purposif dengan kriteria menyusui lebih dari 6 bulan. Hasil wawancara mendalam dianalisis dan hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa kesadaran ibu tentang keunggulan dan kekuatan spiritual dalam air susu ibu (ASI) serta dukungan,afeksi positif, sikap tangguh, tujuan terarah, dan kesejahteraan menjadi kekuatan psikologis mereka. Hasil ini dapat digunaka sebagai masukan bagi promosi kesehatan untuk ibu menyusui. Kata kunci: Menyusui, kekuatan psikologis, keberhasilanAbstractThe World Health Organization recommendation for six months breastfeeding is not yet achieved. This study examined the psychological strengths of six women who had successfully breastfed for more than six months. A descriptive qualitative method was used. Semistructured interviews were used and the records were analyzed. It was shown that understanding of benefits and spiritual power of breastmilk, full support, positive affection, strong attitude, directed goals, and well-being become their psychological strengths. Resumo: A saúde é um fator essencial para o desenvolvimento humano e um dos campos de ação propostos no contexto da promoção da saúde é a criação de ambientes favoráveis. A Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS), desde o ano de 2002, desenvolve uma política de saúde que preconiza o chamado envelhecimento ativo. A Fisioterapia , cujo objetivo de estudo é principalmente o movimento humano, colabora lançando mão de seus conhecimentos e recursos fisioterapêuticos com intuito de facilitar a compreensão dos fatores que possam acarretar em diminuição de qualidade de vida e bem estar nos idosos. A pesquisa teve como objetivo geral descrever a percepção dos idosos sobre a atuação da fisioterapia em um programa de promoção da saúde. A metodologia utilizada foi descritiva qualitativa na qual foram entrevistados 16 idosos que participam de um Programa de Assistência Fisioterapêutica dedicada à Terceira Idade no NAMI. Foram incluídos na pesquisa idosos que participavam regularmente do programa e excluídos idosos que obtiveram no total de 03 faltas consecutivas. O período de coleta foi de Maio a Julho de 2008, no qual foi realizada uma entrevista semi-estruturada . Os resultados indicaram que a fisioterapia contribuiu, através do grupo, na vida dos idosos, motivando-os buscar um programa de assistência. A solidão é um dos grandes problemas na velhice. Assim era o dia a dia desses idosos antes de participar do programa de assistência, porém houve uma mudança de vida após o mesmo. Logo, pelo grupo investigado, observou-se que a fisioterapia contribui pra a promoção da saúde de idosos, através de grupos promotores de saúde que apresentam benefícios para o idoso e sua rede, estendendose ao seu processo de envelhecimento.  Palavras-chave: Fisioterapia; Gerontologia, Promoção de Saúde. Abstract: Health is an essential factor for human development and one of the fields of action proposed in the context of the health promotion is the creation of favorable environments. The World Health Organization (WHO) develops a health policy that advocates the so-called active aging since the year 2002. The Physiotherapy, which the objective of study is especially the human movement, collaborates through its knowledge and physiotherapeutic resources aiming to facili tate the understanding of the factors that may cause a decrease in the elderly well-being and quality of life. The research had as general objective to describe the elderly perception about the physiotherapy performance in a health promotion program. It was used a qualitative and descriptive methodology in which 16 elderly people who participate in a Program of Physiotherapeutic Assistance dedicated to the third age at NAMI were interviewed. It was included in the research the elderly people who had a regular participation in the program and excluded the ones who got a total of 03 consecutive absences. The period of collected data was from May to July 2008 when it was conducted a semi-structured interview. The results indicate that the Physiotherapy contributed through the group in the elderly lives, motivating them to look for an assistance program. The loneliness is one of the major problems in old age. The daily life of these elderly was like that before joining in the assistance program, but there was a change of life after the program. Therefore, it was observed in the investigated group that the Physiotherapy contributes to the elderly health promotion through promoters groups of health that present benefits to the elderly and his network, extending to the ageing process. This study aimed to examine five pillars of Islam and their relationship with physical and spiritual health. The five pillars of Islam are the foundation of Muslim life, considered mandatory by believers, and Muslims are required to observe them with utmost dedication. They are summarized as Shahadah, Salah, Zakat Saum, and Hajj.  he first pillar of Islam, declaration of faith (Shahadah) includes the most important concept, which is the complete submission to the will of Allah (SWT) by obeying and believing in Him. Spirituality in general is defined as “religious belief or the spiritual quality of something”, “a search for the sacred”, “personal growth, or an encounter with one's own inner dimension”. The World Health Organization (WHO) mentions spiritual health as one of four dimensions to well-being; physical, mental, social, and spiritual”. Moreover, holistic nursing practice includes treating people as a whole and attending to a client’s physiological, psychological, and spiritual needs. Thus, this study intends to further explore the unitary aspect of Islam that infuse each of the pillars, and their effects on physical, spiritual well-being and nursing implications associated with it. Five pillars of Islam are discussed from the Quran, Alhadith, and Sunnah (the sayings and traditions of the Prophet) as baselines, and further additions from the knowledge of the Islamic scholars. And it is noted that our practices based on the five pillars of Islam have not only positive effects on physical but also spiritual health. This paper pointed out that while performing obligatory duties as stipulated by Islam, one could achieve spiritual enhancement as well as physical strength and well being.
