This article suggests including drawing, a participative visual method, when designing organizational change research. It is based on a comparative analysis of three research protocols that have integrated drawing as a data collection method. Examining how drawing has been used in these studies leads to the identification of four elicitation processes—contextualizing, exemplifying, focusing, and reflecting—by which drawing gives access to data that would be more challenging to collect with conventional research methods alone. The article shows that these processes bring the participants’ emotions, lived experiences, and cultural influences to light in ways that may considerably enrich organizational change research. It ends by providing a set of guidelines on how to employ drawing in triangulation with other data collection methods.

Results of the food consumption surveys are utilized in many areas, such as for example risk assessment, cognition of consumer trends, health education and planning of prevention projects. Standardization of national consumption data for international comparison is an important task. The intention work began in the 1970s. Because of the widespread utilization of food consumption data, many international projects have been done with the aim of their harmonization. The present study shows data collection methods for groups of the food consumption data, their utilization, furthermore, the stations of the international harmonization works in details. The authors underline that for the application of the food consumption data on the international level, it is crucial to harmonize the surveys’ parameters (e.g. time of data collection, method, number of participants, number of the analysed days and the age groups). For this purpose the efforts of the EU menu project, started in 2012, are promising. Orv. Hetil., 2012, 153, 1692–1700.

The use of image elicitation methods has been recognised in qualitative research for some time; however, the use of mood boards to prompt participant discussion is currently an under-researched area. This article explores the use of mood boards as a data collection method in qualitative research. Used in design disciplines mood boards allow designers to interpret and communicate complex or abstract aspects of a design brief. In this study, I utilise mood boards as being part creative visual method and part image elicitation device. The use of mood boards is explained here in the context of a research project exploring masculinity and men’s reflexivity. In this article, I consider the benefits of utilising this method in researching reflexivity and gender before offering a critical appraisal of this method and inviting others to explore how mood boards might enhance research projects involving elicitation.

Because of recent advances in wireless power transfer technologies, several key topics of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) need to be revisited. Traditional data collection methods for WSNs typically consider the balance of power consumption among sensors as a critical design criterion for avoiding uneven power depletion in the networks. I propose a solution for the uneven power consumption problem of data collection over WSNs. I designed a node-Gosper island-based scalable hierarchical cluster transmission method in conjunction with a wireless recharge plan for data collection over rechargeable WSNs. For the recharge plan, I used a mobile wireless charger to visit and recharge the batteries of sensors located on different levels of node-Gosper curves with various frequencies. The duration of each recharging process for each layer of sensors was calculated to verify the feasibility of the proposed recharge plan. The simulation results indicate that my proposed data collection method outperforms several well-known data collection methods in terms of energy consumption.

Purpose – This study aims to examine a comparative analysis of electronic- and paper-based data collection methods. Design/methodology/approach – Survey research approach was adopted to conduct the study. A total of 500 library and information science (LIS) researcher/information professionals selected randomly from seven states in Nigeria represent the sample for the study. A self-designed questionnaire was used to gather data from the respondents. Six objectives were developed to guide the study. Findings – The findings reveal that there is preference for paper-based than the electronic-based data collection methods, and similarly, respondents indicated they cannot use any other data collection methods other than paper-based. Electronic data collection method is beneficial in terms of gathering a representative sample within a short period compared to the paper-based method. The researcher has control over access to the survey in the paper-based method compared to the electronic method, and there is opportunity to monitor the progress of the research and clarify ambiguity by the researcher. The electronic method is limited in terms of collecting data from only the respondents who are computer-literate with good Web skills, while the paper-based method is limited by higher attrition rate, money and time consumption. Research limitations/implications – The study did not consider the time needed to gather data with each method or the amount of time needed for data entry, cleaning and coding. It is possible that a time-motion study would reveal clear superiority of either one method or the other. The total sample of participants in the study is also limited, considering the total number of LIS researcher/information professionals in Nigeria. Practical implications – The study has underlined the value of electronic/Web-based collection as a cost- and time-saving instrument in modern LIS research. Regardless of method and trial, electronic data collection could fulfill in all examined parameters, its promises, realizing cost savings of up to a 50 per cent in comparison with the paper-based data collection method. Originality/value – The paper is solely the idea of the author.

This study examines the experiences of eight teachers who have graduated from an online course. The SEAMEO INNOTECH GURO21. The primary data collection method made use of one on one interviews.  The results of the study informed that in understanding the lived experiences of those who graduated from the first course of SEAMEO INNOTECH GURO21 can be categorized into two themes: (a) equipping teachers with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values of the 21st century; and (2) facilitating 21st century learning. This research revealed that as teachers, one must be knowledgeable enough to carefully choose strategies and techniques tailored-fit for the kind and level of the learners. The acquisition of the 21st century skills has become an essential part of the generation. Thus, teachers must undergo seminars and workshops and even enroll in online courses to be upgraded with the latest trends of this generation. The participants, from their responses, revealed the change within themselves in line with their profession and in the development of their personality. The course had made them shift from being a traditional teacher to a techno-savvy one. This means using techniques and strategies the old way and how they smoothly transformed into technology-based teaching. Recommendations are offered for school heads, and for further research. This is to further enhance this study and to compare other findings in line with teacher development programs through online courses.

This research is motivated by the difficulties of MTs students.  Sunan Bonang Sarang-Rembang both in speaking and making Arabic conversation texts.  So this research was carried out using pantomime  media to improve students' speaking ability in Arabic, it aims to find out how the application of pantomime, what are the challenges and how to overcome them, and whether there are differences in the ability of students before and after pantomime. This study uses quantitative research and the target is students of class IX MTs.  Sunan Bonang Sarang, Rembang.  And to find out the results of the problem formulation, the authors use several data collection methods, including interviews, documentation, questionnaires, tests, and observations.  The data analysis technique used in this study is parametric statistical analysis with the t test formula. By using the data collection method, it can be concluded that there is an influence between before applying the pantomime game and after applying the pantomime game, it can be seen from the percentage of student questionnaires stating 75.31% they agree and support the application of this game, they also think that  they are easier and more confident when speaking and making muhadatsah texts after playing pantomime. The influence of the application of this pantomime game is very strong seen from the correlation result which is 0.95. As for the t test results from the application of this game is 5.482, when compared with t tables with a significant level of 0.05% which is worth 2,000.  Then t count > t table.  This means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, or there is an increase in students' ability to speak Arabic between before and after the implementation of the mime game.
