An imperative underpinning the redetermination of education theory and practice is mobility. Mobility encompasses freedom of movement through myriad contexts (physical and cerebral), cultures, and knowledge. Digital natives embrace this mobility, interacting with each other and engaging with new literacies to communicate, access rich contexts, question, and collaborate. There are, however, few studies that investigate the efficacy of blended m-learning as an enhancement to literacy, especially with Gulf learners. Therefore, this chapter describes the background and implementation of ICT enhanced learning and teaching (ICTELT) blended m-learning academic writing intervention piloted at Dubai Men’s College (DMC). Findings from the research study are reported and discussed.

In this article the status of teaching as a profession and the morale of teachers in Australian schools in the current era provide a framework for the examination of the intent and outcomes of teaching excellence awards. The research study applied an interpretive research paradigm and used both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. The methodology and the theoretical framework were based on organisational and sociological paradigms. Data informing the study were collected from 44 award recipients and 57 of their colleagues between the years 2000 and 2002. Documentation relating to the promotion and process of awards was also examined. The introduction of teaching excellence awards into the school education sector is found to be a reflection of the economic era in which the current education system is situated. The paper concludes that the awards process may be potentially politically manipulative.

Study designs have numerous advantages and disadvantages that must be considered when addressing a research question, hypothesis, and objective. These include but are not limited to cost, feasibility, and ethical concerns. This review describes common study designs from the dysphagia literature with corresponding relevant examples for each design type. Further, discussion of the main differences between descriptive and analytical, qualitative and quantitative, observational and experimental, and retrospective and prospective study designs is provided. Specific aspects of various study designs, including matching, randomization, and blinding are also discussed. Finally, the importance of working closely with experts, such as epidemiologists and biostatisticians, in the early stages of research to assist with selection of the most appropriate study design and development of the research protocol is strongly recommended.

Therefore, maps are seen as a complex and valuable means for the understanding of geographical areas. This study aimed to contribute to the geographical research regarding School Cartography by drawing attention to environmental problems in the municipality of Quevedos/RS. It consisted of a phenomenological research study which combined qualitative and quantitative approaches. Based on the results, it is believed that the practices linked to the local environmental understanding, such as the construction of mental maps, the use of teaching materials related to the municipality (Hypermap), and the written systematic thinking about its environmental reality contribute to the understanding of geographical space and temporary truths about the ‘world’ in a pivotal, interrelated and systemic way. This allows the students to think more thoughtfully, thus developing a sense of belonging and identity. Keywords: The study of the area. Living space.
