In areas of the world where animistic cultures are resistant to the gospel, a ministry of healing that demonstrates God's power is indispensable to the effective communication of the gospel and the growth of the church. Such a ministry touches the core of the indigenous worldview and is therefore an essential form of evangelism. Through four case studies, the author shows how evangelism coupled with divine healing has played a major role in the growth of the Tzotzil church in Chiapas, Mexico.

Carlo Crivelli’s work is dispersed around the world, but significant examples remain in the Italian region of the Marche. This article analyses the benefit of a collaborative approach between Crivelli’s exhibitions in the Marche to propose strategies that would follow a place-based approach and increase the attractiveness of cities and villages where Crivelli’s artworks are displayed. The paper analyses two case studies presenting different approaches to the Crivelli’s art works: the Museum of St Francis displaying the Triptych of Montefiore dell’Aso, and the Church of St. Martin Bishop exhibiting the Polyptych of Monte San Martino in the original location.

Jacques Derida is a phenomenal philosopher through his philosophy of deconstruction theory. Derida showed systematically the death of structuralism. His speech shocked the world of academics in France and almost all of America and Europe. Deconstruction is a new way of reading the text, by shifting the core of a text to the side, and put the idea on the edge (the unnoticed, hidden ideas) to the center or importance. Derida rejected dichotomous, binary opposition, bipolarity, thinking model or ways of thinking that one is privileging and marginalizing other ideas. Derida thought the model that would proclaim democratic, open, and dynamic diversity that would make room for multiple interpretations of meaning or open horizon that tolerate differences in interpretation of a text. What was conceptualized by Derida is found legitimacy in practical adequacy in the figure of Pope Francis, the Catholic Church's highest leader. Francis shows a deconstructive way to lead contemporary Catholic Church. Francis has opened a new, broader, and other meaning in looking the praxis of the Church. He does not prioritize elitist lifestyle, yet puts a simple and frugal lifestyle. He changes conservative theology into progressive-liberal theology. He realized Church needs not theology but a living testimony of a good, caring, generous, compassion life that does not use religion for immoral behavior, dehumanization, and corruption. Derida did philosophical deconstruction, Francis did spiritual-leadership deconstruction. What unites both of them is a word called "deconstruction".

Is and can religion be seen as a foundation of the modern state? In this article Böckenförde discusses the relationship between state and religion while reviewing Hegel’s main writings on this question. Reconstructing Hegel’s concept of the state, Böckenförde points out that for Hegel, the state is simultaneously universal and historical. It is more than the political system or government—it is the polity in general and the structured form in which the people exist. Moreover, the state is the materialization of the ethical idea as such and the manifestation of how ‘truth’ in history became reality. In Hegel’s view, ‘truth’ is ultimately God’s will in the world. Further, for Hegel, state and religion are two forms of the same substance: reason. Morality and reason are closely intertwined in Hegel. Religion is a source of morality for the people, and the state and the Church are the institutional manifestations of reason. Böckenförde shows that Hegel identifies individual conscience as the core of each person’s freedom; however, Hegel denies a right to an aberrant conscience, indicating a very limited notion of freedom. Finally, Böckenförde discusses Hegel’s philosophy in light of the state today with its separation of state and religion. Since today’s state does not consider religion as part of its foundation, in Hegel’s view it would ‘stand freely in the air’. Böckenförde concludes, contrary to Hegel, that only the democratic process and the people’s agreement on the things that cannot be voted upon can form the basis of the state.

Kata kunci:  Relasi, Fungsi  dan bentuk, Ekspresi, Sakralitas, Gereja Katolik ABSTRACT: The phenomenon of fading off form “sakralitas” of Catholic Church in the world has worried Paus Benedictus. Evidently, this phenomenon had been happened to Catholic Church in Indonesia, particularly Jakarta. Generally, problem has been occurred from this phenomenon is because there is no well relation between activities function with the form as well as the appearance meaning from that relation. The attraction between these both function and form, will be interpreted by people through direct observation for user as well as architectural researcher. This research will use some methods, firstly, will record liturgy function and form on the conducted churches as case studies then will describe in detail, thus could be analyzed all the existing architecture form. Secondly, will use combination “sakralitas” approach from Eliade, Hoffman, Jones and Martasudjita to explore all activities function, although to identify ornament will use Peirce approach. On the otherhand, to explore form expression will use elaboration from architectural approach of Salura and Evensen. This analysis will be based on to structuralism approach, which will explore the inner structure. Thirdly, after analysis process, all case studies will be compared each other on each study object which known as inner-structure. Fourthly, interpretation of activities relation and sacred conception on study objects. Fifthly,  to conclude the signification of function relational with form sakralitas of church architecture. Therefore, if this building element’s sakralitas exist, then all the church architecture on study objects could be said, they are throwing off the expression of sacred form which full of Catholic’s values.         Keywords:  relation, function and form, expression, sakralitas, Catholic Church

The initial agenda of Methodism as a renewal movement in the Church of England was ‘to reform England, especially the church, and to spread scriptural holiness throughout the land’. Like most renewal movements in the history of Christianity, it did not succeed. Instead it morphed into a network of Methodist denominations across the world. ‘The people called Methodists’ outlines John Wesley’s new version of Christianity and its separation from the mother church. It describes the search for succession, the process of ordination, and the core elements of Methodism. Methodists insist on the sacraments of baptism and Eucharist, and on orderly ordination for their clergy. But beyond that there is flexibility, innovation, and adaptability.

Leadership is at the core of Christianity; it operates from the paradigm of God’s revelation to humanity through creation. The creation of the world and the creation of Imago Dei are markers of the service that God has maintained from creation to the fulfilment of soteriology (Gn 1:26, 3 and I Cor 15:42). The early church’s worship of Christ, at least in the Didache, stemmed from the fact that this Hebrew prophet was a servant of God and was YHWH in the flesh. The early teachings of the church were service to the world. This article contends that Christianity faces a crisis because of neglect of the nuclei of Christian theology and faith oriented around the real or physical person of Christ and service to others. The emphasis of this article focuses on kenosis as a prerogative of true Christian faith and leadership. A kenotic model of leadership is service to humanity and the world. The article seeks reflection on the theological importance of kenosis, which interacts with creation and creature. This approach will highlight underlying theology for leadership as it relates to the person of Christ.

Light has a fundamental role to play in our perception of the world. It meditates the relationship between people and things within space, and is crucial to our understanding of the material culture of past societies. This chapter introduces light as the core focus of the volume; its qualities and affordances in different contexts and (im)material environments; its design and manipulation; and its elusive properties. The introduction also outlines how the contributions are structured. Chapters serve as case studies to show how diverse spatial and temporal contexts can advance archaeologies of light and with light. The volume is divided into seven thematic parts, each of which explores how light enables or hinders interactions, materializes and is being materialized, animates and illuminates, accentuates and shadows, generates symbols, meanings, and systems, creates beliefs and phenomena, transforms rituals and traditions, structures spaces, and shapes atmospheres. The volume then closes with an Afterword by Tim Ingold, who comments on the chapters and reflects on the role of light and dark as a constitutive element of the things we see around us.

This article examines the historical path of the development of the Byzantine hymnography and sacred monody in the researcher’s works of fr. Petro Krypjakevych. An important role of the research of the Byzantine sacred hymnography is his study of its specific characteristics and the phenomen of the relations with ancient writing heritage. Church poetry played a major role in the development of the literature poetry, its images were used by many ukrainian writers of the XVI-XVII centuries, most of which in their profession were related with the Church, and, therefore, knew perfectly sacred hymnohraphy. Liturgical books also helped to a perfect knowledge of singin monody material. In the Byzantine hymnography the main place taked the Marian theme. The article analyzed the cultural complex of the existing forms of the liturgical singing tradition, defined existence of the expression among the sacred hymnohraphy. In the development of the Christian rite, the dramaturgy of the Theotokion texts is improved, the system of genres, which is combined by the common theme, is formed, the image of the Virgin gains the axiological completeness and becomes as the source of valuable norms in opposition to evil and hope for salvation. This explains the involvement of the Marian chants into all the spheres of the liturgical worship that allows recognizing the Theotokion as a cultural phenomenon, evidenced by the high emotional and intellectual concentration and communication within the syncretic filling all the rite levels. The investigated material by fr. Petro Krypjakevych reveals the continued interpretation of God Mother‘s image as the carrier of the core foundations of the human spirit that remains to be ideal in interpreting the various artistic and philosophical systems, based on manifesting the eternal valuable categories such as: love and compassion. That’s why the research of fr. Petro Krypjakevych is an important contribution to the world treasury of the recognition of the spiritual culture of humankind.

Galápagos stands out for its vast collection of extreme life: the world’s only tropical albatross, its only flightless cormorants, and its marine iguanas; three colorful species of boobies; and 15 species of giant tortoises, one on each major volcano, except for one especially large volcano that has two. Each of these organisms has evolved adaptations to the unique rigors of life in an isolated archipelago on the equator. As Galápagos has recently grown ever more connected to the world system, many species’ adaptations have become vulnerabilities in the face of human-induced change. Fortunately, long before people arrived, evolution also endowed native species with forms of resilience to local perturbations like El Niño events and periodic droughts. The eight case studies in this book highlight these vulnerabilities and resiliences and argue that the mismatch between them, stemming from human impact, is the core conservation challenge today.
