Nurses’ Preparedness, Readiness, and Anxiety in Managing COVID-19 Pandemic

Nurses’ preparedness has been very important for them to treat patients effectively during the COVID-19 pandemic and serve the community. Nurses provide a vital role in mitigating the effects of health crises. In order to help nurses better understand their skills, abilities, and knowledge, as well as the actions that they should take to manage care, the research aims of this study are to (1) investigate the level of preparedness, readiness, and anxiety among nurses during the COVID-19 outbreak in Sabah, Malaysia; (2) examine the effects of various differences in preparedness and readiness among nurses; and (3) examine the effect of COVID-19 preparedness on anxiety among nurses. The results revealed that the nurses were moderately competent in managing the COVID-19 care situation. Each of the 3 differentiating characteristics (age, work experience, and previous disaster experience) did not predict how nurses would manage COVID-19 preparedness significantly. Besides, we also found only 2 dimensions of preparedness (familiarity with epidemiology and surveillance and familiarity with psychological issues) significantly predicted nurses’ anxiety levels. Familiarity with epidemiology and surveillance predicted nurses’ anxiety positively; in contrast, familiarity with psychological issues negatively influenced nurses’ anxiety.

AbstractNurses are the backbone of the health care sector. They have a vital role in the patient care as well as in the maintenance of standards in their profession. A significant shortage exists in India where nurses are migrating to other countries due to various reasons. This is important globally because countries with the lowest nursing and health care workforce capacities have the poorest health outcomes. Objective: To find the contributing factors for nurses migration to overseas among the staff nurses' Materials and Methods: A descriptive approach was adopted for this study. The study was conducted in Father Muller Medical College Hospital at Mangaluru. The study sample was 103 staff nurses'. A baseline proforma and a checklist were used to collect the data to assess the contributing factors of nurses' migration to overseas. The subjects were selected by using convenient random sampling technique. Results: The data in the present study revealed that, staff nurses 71.84% were between the age group of 21-25 years. Most (88.35%) of the subjects were females. Majorities (82.53%) of the subjects were single. 90.30% of the subjects belong to Christian religion and rest of them belongs to Hindu religion. Proportionately (67.97%) of the subjects who participated were had the qualification of B.Sc (N). Quiet a more number of staff Nurses' (78.64%) was having the work experience between 1- 3 years. The data from the checklist of contributing factors revealed that the majority (95.14%) of them said that less salary in India is the major contributing factor for migration. The second reason given by the subjects was better employment opportunity (92.23%). The third most reason indicated by the subject was the opportunity to improve the professional skill and practice in abroad (92.21%). The marriage as a contributing factor to migrate was least by only (25.24%). The next least was additional payment for extra hours (45.63%). Interpretation and conclusion: After conducting the study the result showed that, The main contributing factors of nurses migration are less salary in India (95.14%), Better employment opportunities in abroad (92.23%) and the opportunity to improve the professional skill and practice in abroad (92.21%). Also we found that there is no specific contributing factor rather they had variety of contributing factors which influences the nurses for migration.

Abstract Construction industry is one of the largest industries in any economy whether gauged in currency volume or workforce quantity but still it is not attentive in appealing it. Human resource plays a vital role in increasing economy and enhancing productivity. Labor productivity is the key driving factor in burgeoning thrift. Various labors possess distinct productivity levels, thus ultimately affects time and profit of construction. Construction activities performed by workers are usually repetitive and demands physical attention, which can be examined by time and motion study followed by evaluation through statistical analysis. A time and motion study are a work measurement technique that involves recording the time spent on a specific job. A time keeping system can be used to record time, while a motion study can be used to eliminate waste. In this research work, a total of seven residential building sites were selected for performing time and motion study considering brick masonry work as main domain where vision-based approach is followed to collect data, i.e., video record study followed by statistical analysis applied to the observed and collected data on site to determine the time parameters, work efficiency and labor productivity construing to the hassles and its reasons. This study focused on only residential buildings limiting the crew designation to mason and helpers aged 25-35 years with 10-16 years of work experience working under traditional method with conditioned tools like hand trowel, mason square, spirit level, plumb rule, etc.

Job satisfaction plays a vital role in the overall commitment and productivity of the school organization. It is more about individual attitude, an internal state which can mean different things to different people.  Job satisfaction can be a positive emotional state resulting from a personal appreciation of a person's work experience.  Recently job satisfaction has been cited as a possible cause of the current educational crisis among private catholic schools in Antique, which results in teacher turnover and absenteeism issues that lead to poor quality education. Hence, the paper describes the level of job satisfaction and the teaching performance of basic education teachers in Antique Diocesan Catholic Schools (ADCS) for the School Year 2019-2020. Likewise, it explores the relationship between teachers’ job satisfaction and their teaching performance.


Subject Japan-South Korea relations. Significance Japan-South Korea relations have global significance. The two are East Asia’s largest and second-largest advanced economies and play a vital role in the economy of the Asia-Pacific region, including in the creation of large free trade areas. Their relationship also affects security issues related to North Korea. Impacts The shared threat from North Korea and the alliances both governments have with Washington will force a degree of cooperation. Intractable political and psychological issues related to history will impede cooperation indefinitely. Bilateral economic ties will remain large-scale and important for both sides, but gradually become less so.

Using questionnaire rating scales, 21 ventilator patients, 17 family members, and 31 members of the medical staff who cared for the patients indicated their perceptions of the ventilator care situation with particular attention given to factors that may be sources of psychological stress for respirator patients. As expected, patients who reported problems in communicating with staff and family due to inability to talk and, in some cases, to write while on the respirator also reported strong feelings or negative emotions, e.g., anger, frustration, fear. The perceptions of staff, patients, and family differed significantly concerning problematic aspects of the respirator care situation. These results have implications for future research dealing with psychological issues of patients in critical care settings

Very little research has been done on the anxiety of the families of patients with covid-19. Considering the vital role of the family in the continuation of supportive-psychological therapies and the direct impact on the patient's anxiety level, in this study, we examined the anxiety level of the family of patients with Covid-19 and compared their with their patient's anxiety level. In this comparative study, the samples were 60 people who were given a definitive diagnosis of covid-19 in selected hospitals (Masih Daneshvari Hospital and Besat Hospital). From the family members, the person who, according to the patient, is most affected and has an emotional relationship with him (spouse-father-mother-child) was selected. The standard Spielberger Anxiety Questionnaire has been used to measure apparent (state) and hidden (trait) anxiety. The questionnaire was completed by both groups (patient-family) and compared with each other. The mean of evident anxiety in patients and caregivers was 70.82 and 74.2, respectively, which this difference was statistically significant (P = 0.023). It is also observed that the mean of hidden anxiety in patients and caregivers was 68.83 and 74.71, respectively, which the mean of hidden anxiety in patients was significantly less than caregivers (P = 0.006). After identifying anxiety, nurses can better and more effectively deal with these unwanted conditions in the patient and her family by providing appropriate and correct education.

Career development and employment services in TAFE perform a vital role in terms of providing students with information to make appropriate course and career choices, opportunities to gain work experience, and access to alternative sources of income. This article analyses the findings of a national study of student perceptions of career development and employment services in TAFE. The survey results show that although students rate career development and employment services among the 12 most important support services in TAFE, there is a high degree of dissatisfaction with the current level and quality of provision. The article argues that a significant improvement is required in the provision of career development and employment services if the vocational needs of TAFE students are to be satisfied and student wastage is to be minimised.

Purpose The nature of knowledge and the way it is assimilated do play a vital role in influencing knowledge sharing tendencies. These specific factors coupled with the ineffectiveness of the intrinsic knowledge management system point towards an inherent knowledge hiding tendency that exists within every organization. Knowledge hiding is established as an intentional attempt to hide knowledge when it is requested. In the recent past, scholars have investigated the factors causing hiding of the task-related knowledge. However, there is still no clear understanding of the strategic factors that lead to knowledge hiding in organizations and which of these factors are the most critical ones. The purpose of this paper is to identify the most critical strategic factors that cause knowledge hiding in different contexts. Design/methodology/approach This research study tries to identify these factors from the literature, corroborate it with industry experts and model the same with the aid of total interpretive structural modelling. This is followed by Matrice d'Impacts Croises Multiplication Appliquée a un Classement and sensitivity analysis, which determines the unique driving factors and their powers, which vary based on industry sectors and years of work experience. Findings This study found out that knowledge hiding behaviour is more pronounced in the initial years of an individual within the organization and similarly in the final years of an individual within the organization. In a period in between both these, there are no critical driving factors that infuse knowledge hiding. Originality/value This is one of the first comprehensive research studies that unravel the dynamic nature of the strategic factors engendering knowledge hiding across two different dimensions, namely, industry sectors and work-experience of individuals. This study categorically aims to aid the management in bringing out necessary interventions to curb the menace of knowledge hiding.

Introduction It is expected that in unforeseen situations, nurses will provide appropriate medical interventions, using their expertise and skills to reduce the risks associated with the consequences of disasters. Consequently, it is crucial that they are properly prepared to respond to such difficult circumstances. This study aimed to identify the factors influencing the basic competences of nurses in disasters. Materials and methods The survey was directed to 468 nurses from all medical centres in Lublin. IBM SPSS Statistics version 23 was used for statistical analyses, frequency analysis, basic descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis. The classical statistical significance level was adopted as α = 0.05. Results Based on the logistic regression analysis, it was found that work experience, workplace preparedness, as well as training and experience in disaster response are important predictors of preparedness. Conclusions These findings indicate that the nurses' core competencies for these incidents can be improved through education and training programmes which increase their preparedness for disasters. Nurses are among the most important groups of healthcare professionals facing a disaster and should be involved in all phases of disaster management, such as risk assessment and pre-disaster planning, response during crisis situations and risks’ mitigation throughout the reconstruction period.

The Pharmaceutical sector plays a vital role in underpinning the economic development of a country. This study attempts to evaluate job satisfaction of employees in different pharmaceutical companies. It focuses on the relative importance of job satisfaction factors and their impacts on the overall job satisfaction of employees. It also investigates the impacts of pharmaceutical type, work experience, age, and sex differences on the attitudes toward job Satisfaction. The result shows that salary, efficiency in work, fringe supervision, and co-worker relation are the most important factors contributing to job satisfaction. The overall job satisfaction of the employees in pharmaceutical sector is at the positive level. The nature of business operation, the work culture and the level of job satisfaction have undergone sea change for the pharmaceutical companies. As a business proposition initiated huge investment whereas majority of their stocks is going down bringing a high level of apprehension related to job security among its employees. This research paper highlights some of these problems and presents a picture of level of job satisfaction among employees of pharmaceutical companies. It also identifies unique issues of job satisfaction in the companies. Pharmaceuticals Companies are selected for the research because they are currently undergoing continued expansion. In order to gain competitive advantage and adapt to the dramatic changing environment, it is important for them to achieve management efficiency by increasing employee satisfaction in the organisation. Hence this research was mainly undertaken to investigate on the significance of factors such as working conditions, pay and promotion, job security, fairness, relationship with co-workers and supervisors in affecting the job satisfaction. This paper presents a comprehensive diagnosis of job satisfaction indices of pharmaceutical business, the factors causing the dissatisfaction & suggestions to improve them.
