This editorial draws attention to time to advance entrepreneurship research by focusing on two aspects of time—time perspective and time management. We initiate a deeper conversation on time in entrepreneurship and illustrate the value of a time-based lens for entrepreneurship research through discussing examples at the individual, firm and context levels. These examples consider underdog and portfolio entrepreneurs; well-being; social and unethical entrepreneurial behavior; entrepreneurial teams and entrepreneur–investor dyads; firm strategy; industry and cultural contexts. We review promising methods for time-conscious entrepreneurship research: process, true longitudinal, diary, experience sampling, observational, work-shadowing and time-use studies; historical approaches; experiments; and simulations.

Research has identified crucial antecedents of corporate entrepreneurship. Research has also identified crucial antecedents of entrepreneurial thinking. This article uses lessons from social cognition to explicitly link these two issues. We adapt an intentions–based model of how to promote entrepreneurial thinking from its original domain of individual entrepreneurship and translate that model to the domain of corporate entrepreneurship. From our intentions–based model of the social cognition of entrepreneurial teams, we emphasize the importance of perceptions of desirability and feasibility and that these perceptions are from the team as well as the individual perspective. This leads to three propositions about entrepreneurial teams and an outline of the opportunities for future research.

Introduction: Despite the growing interest in various forms of leisure time management and their influence on various aspects of human life, still not enough attention is paid to understanding individual experiences of participation in classes. It is important not only what we do, but also how the activity affects overall well-being, functioning and role play in society. Objective: The aim of this work is to present the process of validation of the Polish version of the Self-reported Experiences of Activity Settings (SEAS) questionnaire. Material and methods: The study was conducted in a group of 153 people aged 10-22 years (mean 15.5 ± 3.3). The study participants were divided into four groups. The process of translation and cultural adaptation was carried out according to international rules developed by ISPOR. Results: The alpha Cronbach index for the whole questionnaire was 0.953. The internal alpha Cronbach index for question groups in the Polish version of the TeDeMAR questionnaire was higher or equal to 0.70 and close to the values of this index in the English version of the questionnaire. The results of the constancy test performed in group 4 showed no statistically significant differences (p>0.05) between the individual question groups. Conclusions: The TeDeMAR questionnaire, as the Polish version of the SEAS questionnaire, met all validation criteria.

The impact of the research process on the researcher is an emerging topic of interest. Data collection in most low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) is often the responsibility of community members who are identified and trained specifically for data collection. When research involves data on mental health and social well-being, data collectors may have specific competency needs and the task of data gathering may impact data collectors. This study aims to explore the experiences and needs of data collectors within South Africa using qualitative methods to examine the impact of data collection on data collectors. Nineteen data collectors, involved in face-to-face data collection, completed semi-structured interviews exploring their insights, attitudes and experiences. Thematic analysis revealed barriers and challenges associated with research, complexities regarding boundaries within the participant-data collector relationship and the benefits of being involved with research for the individual and the community. Numerous challenges and opportunities are outlined. Findings expose the beneficial and often overlooked contribution of data collectors and warrants key considerations in the planning and implementation of future research to ensure adequate support and standardization of practice.

Background: Occupational stress is high in academia, and partly related to time pressure. Mindfulness-based programs are known to be effective in reducing stress and increasing well-being. Recent work suggested that these programs may also improve time management. This study tested the effects of a mindfulness-based program on academics’ psychological flexibility, mental health, well-being and time management. Methods: The study was conducted in a French research department. Participants were offered to join a mindfulness-based program (n = 21) or to be on a wait-list control group (n = 22). Self-reported measures of psychological flexibility, mental health (stress, anxiety and depression symptoms), well-being and time use were collected before and after the 8 weeks program. Results: Results showed that psychological flexibility, mental health, well-being and effective time use significantly increased in the intervention group compared to the control condition. Conclusions: The results suggested that the mindfulness-based programs were effective in improving adaptive functioning, well-being, and optimal time use in academia, thus underlining potential useful perspectives to help academics improve mental health and time management.

The article draws on the issue of maintaining well-being of a person via applying psychological tools. The emphasis is made on the significance of this issue in the context of functioning in a stressful situation. Based on the results of the research, the authors suggest a specific psychological technique for increasing efficiency of performance of a person. This technique was developed through theoretical and empirical correlations between the type of psychological time perception of a person and the success rate of decisions made by the person in a situation of a stress. The basic statements of the program are as follows: a) The features of the dynamics of a stressful situation depend on the optimality of the decision made;b) All people can be divided into five groups in accordance to their psychological time type; c) Individuals with different types of psychological time demonstrate different efficiency of decision making in stressful situations depending on time management of the situation of the decision making; d) A person is capable of regulating time management of the situation of decision making, and this creates conditions to enforce their functioning efficiency in the situation of stress. The actual program for the development of the target skill is described in the article in accordance with the stages of its content development. The article will be relevant for readers in terms of development of the individual resources for overcoming stressful situations.

Abstract. This study addresses prior mixed findings on the relationship between future time perspective (FTP) and well-being as well as examines the associations between three aspects of FTP and life satisfaction in the health and friendship domains. 159 Germans, 97 US Americans, and 240 Hong Kong Chinese, aged 19–86 years, completed a survey on future self-views (valence) and life satisfaction. They also reported the extent to which they perceived future time as expanded vs. limited (time extension) and meaningful (openness). Findings revealed that individuals with more positive future self-views had higher satisfaction. However, those who perceived their future as more meaningful or perceived more time in their future reported higher satisfaction even when future self-views were less positive.

An engaged and perceptive contemplation of the Qur'an forms one of the most important bases for the cultural and social advancement of Muslims in all walks of life, and the absence of such study is one of the reasons behind the general cultural attenuation in the modern world. Reflection is one of the means of the construction and formation of a civilised society. The applied faculty of intellect creates an environment which allows reflective and considered thought to be developed from a functional perspective for the general well-being of society. Meanwhile the effective neglect of such study leads to the proliferation of superstition, dissent and social conflict. Indeed it can even be argued that it diminishes the significance of the laws and conventions which serve as the backbone of society. This paper reveals a number of factors which can impede the achievement of such an engaged study of the text: thus, for instance, thoughtless obedience to societal conventions; shortcomings in educational systems and syllabi; and a failure to encompass the significance of the Arabic language. Furthermore this paper presents several effective suggestions for nurturing students' potential, encouraging an environment which allows freedom of thought, and its refinement.
