This study explored the empirical evidence with regards to concurrency of learning among the Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) and Extended Essay (EE), which are the core components in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). This mixed method research used a concurrency of learning questionnaire developed by the researchers as well as a focus group interview to explore and explain how concurrency of learning is promoted in the core. The research findings provide readers with insights on the strategies, good practices, challenges as well as suggestions provided by the school practitioners while achieving coherence in the core.

Purpose Tourism development has been perceived as a promoter of city restoration and can also affect the post-war city reconstruction. Questions on how to reconstruct ruined buildings and urban areas through a post-war tourism-oriented approach based on the expectations of residents and tourists profound answers. The purpose of this paper is to adopt the sequential mixed method (qualitative and quantitative) with purposive sampling which is a non-probability method to investigate tourism-oriented approaches in the reconstruction of buildings and landmarks as the core components of urban tourism. Design/methodology/approach The study adopted the sequential mixed method (qualitative and quantitative) to investigate tourism-oriented approaches in the reconstruction of buildings and landmarks as the core components of urban tourism. Findings The findings of the study point that the preferred strategy for the reconstruction of damaged symbolic building is the preservation of the war effects in regard maintaining the buildings’ history to be considered by urban policy makers, urban designers, and authorities. Research limitations/implications The constraint was associated with the time-consuming nature of this type of research. Original documents of the research context and all the interview data were in the Persian language, making the translating process a time-consuming matter. Furthermore, data collection in the area located near the Iran-Iraq border (500 meters) presented a number of security caveats as limitations. Originality/value The research found a majority of tourists and the residents preferred tourism zone where the combination of post-war and natural attraction across riverside area. In other word, most considerable post-war attractions are those that combined with the appeal of the other tourism potentials like eco-leisure tourism. The preferred strategy for the reconstruction of damaged building reconstruction as post-war tourism attractions is the preservation of the war effects in regard maintaining the buildings history rather than reconstruction as the most likely to pre-war conditions with less attention paid to the war effects.

ABSTRACTThe development of technology that is termed ad Industrial Revolution 4.0 is an era of innovation developed rapidly that can help the creation of new technology. The research findings developed an Android based instructional media that was named as WINLAB (Wawasan didalam Pembelajaran Laboratorium), it consisted of the introduction of laboratory equipment, and it was expected to ease students in the learning process. It was Mixed Method Research. The research findings showed that this instructional media had the appropriateness with 85% percentage and very valid criterion by the validators of media experts, 96.92% percentage and very valid criterion by the validator of material experts, practicality test by Chemistry subject teachers showed 92% percentage with very practical criterion, the response test of the tenth-grade student of MIA 1 at State Sport Senior High School Riau Province stated that Android based instructional media was very good with 90% percentage. However, this research still consisted of some shortcomings, so it was expected in the future that the effectiveness test would be done to know the effectiveness of the media.  Keywords: WINLAB, android, chemistry instructional media  ABSTRAK Perkembangan teknologi yang diistilahkan dengan revolusi industri 4.0 merupakan era inovasi yang berkembang sangat pesat sehingga mampu membantu terciptanya teknologi baru. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendesain dan uji coba media pembelajaran berbasis android pada materi praktikum pengenalan alat laboratorium kimia yang digunakan sebagai sumber belajar yang mudah di akses bagi peserta didik SMA. Hasil penelitian menghasilkan sebuah media pembelajaran berbasis android yang diberi nama “WINLAB” (Wawasan didalam Pembelajaran Laboratorium) yang berisikan tentang pengenalan alat-alat laboratorium yang diharapkan dapat memudahkan peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Mixed Method. Research. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran ini memiliki kelayakan oleh validator ahli media dengan persentase 85% dengan kriteria sangat valid, validator ahli materi dengan persentase 96.92% dengan kriteria sangat valid, uji praktikalitas oleh guru kimia dengan persentase 92% dengan kriteria sangat praktis, dan uji respon peserta didik kelas X MIA 1 SMAN Olahraga Provinsi Riau menyatakan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis android sangat bagus dengan persentase 90%. Namun, penelitian ini masih memiliki beberapa kekurangan sehingga diharapkan kedepannya dilakukan uji efektifitas untuk mengetahui keefektifan media. Kata kunci: WINLAB, android, media pembelajaran kimia

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to empirically identify the themes of core-competencies required for future-oriented and sustainable e-governance practices, especially across the developing nations. Design/methodology/approach The present study has been conducted using the sequential mixed method research wherein the exploratory qualitative study is first carried out with the government officials involved in e-governance implementation across India to identify the themes of core-competencies. The findings of this exploratory study are then empirically tested with the 359 respondents from Group A and Group B officers of the two government departments in India using partial least square technique. Findings The findings suggested that to ensure the implementation of future-oriented and sustainable e-governance, it is required to develop the core-competencies. The significant core-competencies explored are, namely, process management, employee engagement, internal service quality, external service quality, citizen satisfaction, leadership, culture and technology. Research limitations/implications As strategic implementation of e-governance is a relatively new area of study, the present study has used the learning from core-competencies studies in the non-government sector. Practical implications The findings of this study underscore the need for strategic implementation of e-governance to have long-term success of e-governance. The requirement is to develop the core-competencies. These core-competencies are the key to making the government departments proactive in dealing with any future contingency without compromising on the departmental performance. Originality/value The present research is one of the few research studies focusing on the implementation of sustainable and future-oriented e-governance. The current study has laid the stepping stone for investigating the role of core-competencies to ensure the implementation of sustainable and future-oriented e-governance.

There is growing recognition of the importance of learners gaining transversal or 21st-century attributes in order to thrive in the contemporary world. This poses a number of challenges for educators. First, to what extent are transversal attributes innate, or do they include a combination of traits and skills? Second, what can teachers do to help nurture these attributes in learners? Third, how can the existence or strengthening of attributes be recognised? In this paper, we draw on work that we are doing for the International Baccalaureate Organisation to define conceptual frameworks for creativity and curiosity. Our goal is to enable learners to evidence achievement in each of these attributes, and for teachers to be able to recognise it. The frameworks draw on extensive scholarly literature to define the core components of both curiosity and creativity and the skills that are inherent in each one. This is the first step towards the development of a ‘transversal résumé’ that will allow learner achievement to be recorded. This includes a focus on the extent to which schools and teachers can provide learners with opportunities to gain, practice or enhance the skills that contribute to transversal attributes and a scaffold that enables learners to reflect on the extent to which they have evidenced creativity or curiosity in sustained pieces of work. The paper raises some key questions that have arisen as we have grappled with both conceptual and practical issues in this project. These provide valuable insights into the nurturing of transversal attributes, and the implications for educational professionals.

Mixed methods have emerged as the third research community in the social and behavioural sciences during the past decades, joining quantitative and qualitative methods of scholarly inquiry. Mixed methods research, research paradigm, methodology, and action research have encouraged the combined use of quantitative and qualitative research to answer complex questions in recent years. Mixed methods research integrates both methods, the quantitative and the qualitative, to present research findings within a single system process. The chapter aims to provide an insight between mixed method research and action research, which includes the basic foundation of mixed method research and research paradigm. The chapter will discuss the concept of action research and how mixed method is applied to action research and its processes. A brief idea about the future plan of action required for mixed methods research to attain better research designs and processes is also discussed in the chapter.

<p><span lang="EN-US">This article presents the results of an investigation directed to analyze the teachers' perception about the implementation of the curricular design of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in the province of Chimborazo, Riobamba - Ecuador. The design that was selected was qualitative, developing the interpretive paradigm. As a sample, a total of 18 teachers were considered who during the 2018-2019 school year administered the subjects and core components of the International Baccalaureate. A mixed questionnaire was applied, the data was organized in matrices and content analysis was applied for its interpretation. As negative aspects, they reveal that their experience has been marked by insufficient training that is evident in professional training for the development of pedagogical activity, in attention to the international parameters assumed by the Ministry of Education when implementing this modality of baccalaureate. There is, as well, evidence of a lack of material resources (laboratories, internet access, specialized bibliography). As favorable aspects, there was found teamwork to achieve the objectives and the willingness of teachers to continue the program</span></p>

This study examines the implementation of the "Move to Serve Citizens" (BMW) policy in assessing innovation in public services in Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung Province. Government leadership in implementing the "Move to Serve Citizens" (BMW) policy was initiated in the RANPERDA RPJMD Tulang Bawang 2017-2024 which is also an arrangement to realize its vision-mission of regional heads to improve community welfare and optimal public services in Tulang Bawang district. Research on the implementation of mobile policies to serve residents in Tulang Bawang Regency (the study of public service innovation uses a mixed-method research type or is often referred to as a mixed method, a research approach that combines associates qualitative and quantitative forms with inductive-deductive thought processes. BMW policy has a significant effect on public services. The research findings revealed that the BMW policy variable, each indicator of this variable, is considered to determine the success of the policy objectives. It has been determined that it has been optimally used to implement the BMW policy by Tulang Bawang Regency successfully.

This chapter revisits trade-offs that qualitative researchers face when balancing the different expectations of area studies and disciplinary audiences. One putative solution to such trade-offs, mixed-method research, emphasizes the triangulation of quantitative and qualitative methods. CAS, as defined above, essentially encourages a different form of triangulation—the pooling of observations and interpretations across a wider array of cases spanning multiple areas. This kind of triangulation can be facilitated by cross-regional contextualized comparison, a middle-range approach that stands between area-bound qualitative research and (Millean) macro-comparative analysis that brackets out context in search of causal laws. Importantly, this approach relies upon an area specialist’s sensibilities and experience to generate awareness of local complexities and context conditions for less familiar cases. The examples of cross-regional contextualized comparison considered in this chapter collectively demonstrate that engagement with area studies scholarship and the pursuit of disciplinary knowledge can be a positive-sum game.
