AbstractThere is a growing interest in employing telepresence robots in different educational contexts due to their great potentials to enhance and improve educational experiences for remote learners. However, there is little use of telepresence robots in virtual transnational education contexts in developing countries. There is a lack of knowledge about university academics’ perceptions regarding the future use of telepresence robots to enhance virtual transnational education contexts. This exploratory research aims to fill this gap by seeking to have evidence-based information on whether telepresence robots as a new emerging technology is perceived among university academics as a useful tool for enhancing virtual transnational education or not. This study also seeks to better understand university academics’ perceptions of obstacles that may hinder them from using telepresence robots and the support that they will need. A sample of 46 Egyptian university academics participated in this study. The results of the study revealed that the academics perceived telepresence robots to have a great potential to enhance virtual transnational education. The academics also perceived telepresence robotics to have positive effects on educational activities. Furthermore, the participants indicated a number of barriers regarding integrating telepresence robotics into the teaching and learning activities and identified the types of support they will need. The uptake of telepresence robots to enhance virtual transnational education could lead to a larger international learner population, better virtual transnational education, and more university revenue. Recommendations for future research are also presented.

The inclusivity of neurodiversity conferences is a new field of research. Utilising Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) as an example, this study aims to critically investigate issues of inclusivity in the flyers advertising these conferences. This exploratory research is informed by 22 conference flyers and 14 scholarly articles retrieved from respective internet and Google Scholar enquiries. These articles offered evidence-based justifications for a greater inclusion of OCD-focused content in neurodiversity conferences. The study cautions that the lack of explicit inclusion of OCD as a topic among conferences can be harmful to persons who identify with this particular type of neurodivergence. This study offers a sound base from which future research focusing upon other forms of neurodivergence and issues of neurodiversity conference inclusivity and intersectionality can develop.

The paper is based on the overview and description of ten monographs from in- ternational scientific conferences held in the period between 2011 and 2021 at the Facul- ty of Education in Uţice, and is aimed at recording topics and issues discussed in them, and making suggestions for future research of problems, goals and perspectives in the teaching and learning process. The review of the monographs from these international scientific conferences showed that the interest of theoreticians and practitioners is firmly focused on general questions of education and rearing, teaching and learning, as well as questions of educational assessment and evaluation, textbook quality, and education and professional development of teachers. Topics in the field of elementary education are predominant, so in the future, it would be worth paying more attention to the current topics in the field of preschool and higher education.

This paper chronicles exploratory research about the use of content analysis to guide the future knowledge management research agenda. The responses of 35 international knowledge management experts answering a question about the future of knowledge management were considered. The interviews, which were created as part of a different project, are freely available online. This secondary data was analyzed using a series of content analysis techniques to determine which elements of Michael Earl’s knowledge management taxonomy were most prevalent. A dictionary of terms reflecting Earl’s taxonomy was created. The top three schools that emerged were the engineering, cartographic and systems schools, all of which belong to the high-order category technocratic. A series of qualitative comments are included to expand on the quantitation results and with a view to stimulating future research.

Aim/Purpose The goal of this project was to determine what effects exposure to online K-12 teaching and learning activities had on teacher candidates’ perceptions of K-12 online learning, how the exposure allowed teacher candidates to reach greater understanding of online pedagogy, and what effect such exposure had on teacher candidates’ aspirations to complete virtual field experiences. Background With an increasing number of K-12 students learning online within full-time online schools and in blended learning environments, universities must prepare future educators to teach in virtual environments including clinical practice. Before engaging in online field placement, preservice teachers must be oriented to online K-12 teaching and learning. Methodology Using a design-based, mixed-method research methodology, this study drew samples from four sections of a hybrid technology integration course. Preservice teachers’ papers detailing their perceptions, focus groups, and surveys were used to gauge changes in perceptions of online learning after participating in online teaching and learning activities. Contribution The study demonstrated that an exposure to online K-12 classrooms stimulated preservice teachers’ interest in online teaching as they began to feel that online education could be equivalent to traditional education. Findings Students’ perceptions positively improved the equivalency of online learning to traditional schooling, the possibility of positive relationships between teachers and students, and the ability to create interactive learning. Students also reported being more knowledgeable and showed increased interest in participating in virtual field experiences. Future Research Future research may continue to examine if the exposure course, combined with a short-term clinical experiences and long-term online apprenticeships may serve to prepare graduates with the skills necessary to teach in classrooms of the future.

The objectives of this paper is two fold. Firstly, it aims at finding students’ perceptions on the learning of English vocabulary in Al-Ghazali on Islamic Guidance or Bidayatul Hidayah, which is a great scripture of Islam written by Al-Imam Muhammad Bin Muhammad Bin Muhammad Bin Ahmad Alghazali Attusi or also known as Imam Al-Ghazali R.A. Secondly, it is to obtain students’ perceptions on the problems that occurred thoroughout the teaching and learning activities and how to improve them. This qualitative research adopts two techniques – observation and interview. It is discovered that majority of students show great interest to learn English through this scripture and their knowledge on English vocabulary has generally improved. The researcher also identifies the problems and lists the possible recommendations for improvement of such activity in the future. It is hoped that this study can shed some lights on how to better integrate Islamic elements in the teaching and learning of English language, as well as to produce active, autonomous and lifelong students; who as well, appreciate the ancient scriptures of Islam. Keywords: Perception, English Vocabulary, Al-Ghazali on Islamic Guidance, Naqli and Aqli

This study reviews the international literature on using Facebook for academic purposes to examine whether and how this popular social networking site contributes to teaching and learning in formal education. A review of 57 empirical studies on this topic suggest that (a) the majority of studies report positive effects or feedback of using Facebook for academic purposes, and recommend its integration into teaching and learning; (b) Facebook is shown to be effective as a platform for academic communication and effective in promoting student-centered learning; (c) the effects of Facebook used as Learning Management System are mixed and under-studied; (d) the quality of Facebook-related learning process and learning outcomes is under-studied; (e) Facebook may not be suitable for teaching in all disciplines; and (f) studies heavily rely on preexperimental design and self-reported data, which raises the issue of response bias. It is recommended that future research should (a) focus more on in-depth examination of the process and quality of learning using Facebook, (b) adopt quasi- or true experimental design to control for confounding factors, (c) properly address potential response bias by minimizing the relationship between researcher and students, and (d) more frequently adopt content analysis to reduce reliance on self-reported data.
