There are several difficulties and obstacles concerning the instruction of an Applied Art discipline through Distance and Online learning only. An example of that is the case of Lighting Design. A complete analysis of the substantial elements of that discipline shows its two-fold character based both on artistic/theoretical and scientific/technical premises. While Distance and Online learning methods are adequate for the teaching of the artistic/theoretical part of Lighting Design, the technical/scientific one demands also face to face sessions, outdoor activities and laboratory experimentation, a condition that will assure the tangible contact of the students with the practical nature of the activity. The same scenario seems to characterize all Applied Arts in the cases where an academic institution of higher education wishes to organize a program for their proper academic teaching. Taking that as example, we could generalize by suggesting that the appropriate way to construct an academic program for an Applied Art should be based on blended learning with the obligatory combination of Distance and Online learning methods on the one hand and face to face sessions and activities on the other.

This chapter introduces how to differentiate instruction in an online environment. Fostering successful online learning communities to meet the diverse needs of students is a challenging task. Since the “one size fits all” approach is not realistic in a face-to-face or online setting, it is essential as an instructor to take time to understand differentiation and to work in creating an online learning environment that responds to the diverse needs of learners. It is our responsibility to ensure that the teaching and learning that takes place online is not only accessible, but of quality. The author hopes that developing an understanding of differentiation and specific instructional strategies to differentiate online will inform the learner of ways to maximize learning by addressing the diverse needs of students.

The Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on changing learning methods from face-to-face earning to online learning. Learning ctivities that were originally carried out in schools because of the pandemic must be carried out at home. This learning method then made many teachers use various online learning media as an alternative learning method which turned out to cause many complaints from students. The application of online learning due to changes in learning methods is a phenomenon that is studied more deeply by researchers using a descriptive qualitative approach. There are three kinds of data collection techniques used in this research, namely observation, documentation, and the interview. All data obtained by the researcher were analyzed in detail, then the validity of the data was carried out using triangulation technique. The findings of this study indicate that Google Classroom learning platform is preferred by teachers over other learning platforms such as Edmodo, WhatsApp Group, Zoom.us, and Google Meet. Google Classroom learning platform is considered effective by teachers and easily accessed by students so that students can learn independently. Many learning features make it easier for teachers to create, modify, and monitor learning so that learning is more interesting, flexible, and a collection of student assignments can be known in more detail.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), many schools and universities have closed worldwide, however, the UNESCO recommended the use of distance learning to reach learners remotely and limit the disruption of education. this is an empirical study to discuss if the role of online learning really helps learners to learn programming design better on problem-based cooperative learning. This study adopted a quasi-experimental and nonequivalent control-group design, and it carried out a 7-week experimental instruction by applying online and face-to-face cooperative learning methods. The programming design learning achievement pretest and posttest were used to collect the data from the participants. And it shown that the different cooperative learning methods had significant differences in their achievement, learning online was helpful, but face-to-face learning was superior significantly than online learning in this study.

A large body of research exists on the topics of computer-based educational gaming on the one hand and the role of playing traditional games in face-to-face learning environments on the other. Relatively few studies, however, have looked at the potential of technology to support traditional face-to-face games in an online educational environment. While some traditional games such as Tic-Tac-Toe, Hangman, Monopoly, and Chess have been ported over to an electronic medium, relatively little thought has been given to porting games where human-to-human interaction is a central component. This chapter reports on the use of a game in an online learning module that was presented to adult learners. It sets out to explore the complexities involved in teaching and learning in an adult online learning community that is based on a modified version of the television reality show, “Survivor.”

Learning applied in Indonesia from elementary school to undergraduate level generally uses face-to-face or direct learning methods. However, after the Covid-19 disease outbreak, all methods change to online learning methods at all levels and cultures. This affects all aspects of learning such as comfort, understanding and learning outcomes. To find out the difference in the results using face-to-face methods and online methods, a study was carried out on classifying learning media users from elementary school to university level using the k-means method. This study aimed to determine the differences in learning outcomes between the semester before the Covid-19 pandemic and the semester during the Covid-19 pandemic which applies online learning. The results of grouping data on online learning media users showed that all levels of education were considered sufficiently ready to implement online learning. As well as cultural differences in Indonesia have not had an impact on the commitment of schools to implement online learning during the Covid-19 disease outbreak.

This article aims to determine the psychological impact on new students regarding online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used is literature through articles or journals found on Google Scholar and through the personal experience concerned. Based on the literature review and personal experience concerned, online learning methods are less effective. Because there is more harm than good. And if this is done continuously for a very long period of time, maybe many students will be disappointed and even have mild stress. Because it is more effective and efficient face-to-face learning, because students can interact directly with lecturers who convey knowledge. Even though on the campus of the University of Lambung Mangkurat online learning methods are facilitated by the Zoom Meeting application, Google Classroom, Google Meeting, and E-learning. This causes a lot of psychological impact on new students, because this learning method is less effective. So that most students find it difficult to understand the knowledge conveyed by the lecturers, especially these students have the nickname "MABA" and usually new students do not know much information so it is necessary to convey the lecturers correctly and it must be right on target. Keywords : Psychological impact, online learning.
