The studying of the modern technologies applied to an information services for the exhibition of the archaeological collections of the State Hermitage Museum has revealed, that advanced access to the data is available to a limited number of visitors. As an alternative to existing approaches to presenting information to visitors, there was a proposal to develop this technology based on participatory culture. The «Young for the young» project was prepared and carried out in six months thanks to the participants from diff erent countries working in the Volunteer service of the State Hermitage. In the frame of the project a children contest «Discover the Hermitage!» took place just in virtual space. The author, based on web-statistical data, considers the prospect of using QR-codes in museum practice.

The article focuses on the state of academic literature in the field of Russian translation studies based on Ewa Konefał’s latest bibliographic monograph entitled Russian translation studies. Volume 1: Abstracts of dissertations 1937–2015 (Publishing house of Gdansk University, Gdansk 2016). The first part of the article justifies the need to create bibliographic monographs, and briefly presents Polish bibliographic research in Russian studies, with 169 publications from the years 1883–2016. In the main part of the article, the author discusses Konefał’s work and presents statistical data of documents from the field of Russian translation studies available in libraries in Russia and Post-Soviet countries based on Konefał’s research results. The total number of the excerpted titles of dissertations (PhD and postdoctoral) in the years 1937–2015 is 2202, with 87.5% belonging to the field of philology (1927 positions).

The article presents a methodology for assessing the impact of spatial environment on the socioeconomic development of municipalities. It relies on existing tools for assessing the state and potential of the geographical location of municipalities. An integrated approach allows to determine the potential of the interaction of the municipality with the neighbors of the first and second order. The methodology was tested on statistical data on the Blagovarsky municipal district.

Mathematics in elementary school is difficult to understand, boring, formal, theoretical, and book-based learning, which makes students tired of listening and paying attention. The purpose of this study is to create a learning prototype based on QR codes, especially mathematics learning in elementary schools. Using the QR code, students can access math games related to the course. This learning model could encourage students to learn mathematics. The research included seven steps in research and development named after Borg & Gall, such as need assessment, plan, early product development, first test, revise early product, field test and revise product. The object of the research is QR code-based learning, and the respondents are elementary school students and teachers. After analyzing data in the first and field test, researchers found the result. QR code-based learning could support children for learning mathematics.

Quick response (QR) codes are usually scanned in different environments, so they must be robust to variations in illumination, scale, coverage, and camera angles. Aesthetic QR codes improve the visual quality, but subtle changes in their appearance may cause scanning failure. In this article, a new method to generate scanning-robust aesthetic QR codes is proposed, which is based on a module-based scanning probability estimation model that can effectively balance the tradeoff between visual quality and scanning robustness. Our method locally adjusts the luminance of each module by estimating the probability of successful sampling. The approach adopts the hierarchical, coarse-to-fine strategy to enhance the visual quality of aesthetic QR codes, which sequentially generate the following three codes: a binary aesthetic QR code, a grayscale aesthetic QR code, and the final color aesthetic QR code. Our approach also can be used to create QR codes with different visual styles by adjusting some initialization parameters. User surveys and decoding experiments were adopted for evaluating our method compared with state-of-the-art algorithms, which indicates that the proposed approach has excellent performance in terms of both visual quality and scanning robustness.

The article presents an analysis and evaluation of the accident rate in selected European Union countries. On the basis of available statistical data, the analysis of accidents in various sectors of the European Union economy was carried out. Afterwards, a ranking of countries regarding accidents in the construction industry was developed. For the selected representative countries, analysis of changes in the indicators which characterize the accident rate during the period between 2008 and 2012 was carried out. Conclusions resulting from the conducted research were formulated.

The urgency of the work is due to the objective dynamics of changes in the level of man-made and natural threats in the exclusion zone and unconditional (compulsory) resettlement, increasing the volume of taskssolved by operational and rescue units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the need for security people who are, work and live in the Exclusion Zone. Potential threats and dangers in the exclusion zone and unconditional (compulsory) resettlement have been identified. The analysis of statistical data on the involvement of fire and rescue equipment for firefighting. The empirical dependence of the involvement offire and rescue equipment of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on the elimination of fires in the exclusion zone during the year on their number has been established. It was found that most often 4 to 7 units of fire and rescue equipment of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are involved in extinguishing fires. Based on the processing of numerical analysis of statistical data, the following conclusions were made: 95% of the time during the year, fire and rescue units are on duty (without calls); 438 hours a year put out single fires; Two hours a year, two fires are extinguished simultaneously. The analysis of calls by service time is carried out. It is established that the service time of calls of fire and rescue units in 25% of cases is up to 2 hours and in 22% of cases is 7-8 hours. An assessment of the locations of fire and rescue units and forest posts with the definition of their service areas. As a result of calculations, it was established that to ensure the normative response to fires at existing facilities in the exclusion zone, it is necessary to provide 4 additional locations of forces and means of fire and rescue units, as well as to ensure the functioning of the fire station on the Vector complex.
