This study focused on the thermal comfort of air circulation-type whole-house air-conditioning ventilation systems. We studied the influence of 24-h continuous whole-house air-conditioning on the living environment in which the occupant is sleeping. A survey was conducted in the summer of 2016 and winter of 2017 to ascertain the influence on the sleeping environment, skin moisture content, and blood pressure. We then compared the results with those of the sleeping environment of residents in air-conditioned housing surveyed the previous year. The sleeping environment when using a personal humidifier around the occupant’s head was examined during winter when the humidity is low. The results indicated that sleep latency was significantly shortened in the 24-h continuous whole-house air-conditioning ventilation system in both summer and winter because the temperature control of the bedroom before going to bed affects the sleep latency. Subjectively, no participants felt dryer than the values measured in the bedroom environment. The results implied that the comfort of the entire building was improved with continuous air-conditioned housing.

This paper was developed by microwave measurement on the vegetation dielectric constant through using the rectangular-waveguide at C Band. The measurement system and the method of the measurement will be introduced in detail. We have a standard block of known dielectric constant measurement, and then evaluate the error range. The system of measurement error range is ± 5%.At last, the result of this experiment showed that different density corresponds to different dielectric constant in the case of certain moisture content, and the dielectric constant increases with the density.

Moisture content in the process of drying is often unknown when carrying out the drying process, especially the fluidized dryer. A lot of experimental designs are needed when observing the drying phenomenon more deeply.  It is because to stop and repeat drying process from the beginning again when the sample is taken to test its moisture content needed more experiments. Therefore, this paper presents development of a non-intrusive moisture measurement system prepared for fluidization type dryers. The method used in to conduct this research consists of (i) structural design analysis and (ii) functional (mechanical and electrical systems) and (iii) simple testing of the water content measurement system of constructed material. Test parameters observed include errors in measuring and fluctuating sensor signals against vibration applied to the weighing system. The results showed that non-intrusive moisture content measurement system for fluidized dryers based on the ESP8266 microcontroller had been successfully developed and worked normally. The measurement system has been calibrated with a coefficient of determination (R2) close to one. Measurement error resulting from the effect of vibration on this system shows a very satisfactory value of 6.89%.

Moisturizers are topically applied agent which increasing moisture content in the skin to maintain skin integrity and youthful appearance. L-brand soothing gel (Tested gel) was developed for skin hydration. The objective of this study is to evaluate the benefits of daily usage of Tested gel amongst healthy young adults. This study also aimed to assess whether storage temperature may affect the efficacy of Tested gel. Changes in moisture content and texture index of the skin where the product was applied over a period of 8 days were assessed using non-invasive devices to measure the skin’s bioelectric impedance. Our results indicate that application of Tested gel produces a hydrating effect characterized by a significant increment in skin moisture and smoothness. There was no association found between storage temperature and efficacy of gel. The hydration effect of Tested gel diminishes gradually after application, but the hydration effect is cumulative upon daily usage for healthy young adults.

Introduction: Slippage is usually measured with a standard manual method, however, if it is required slippage information inline in extensive areas of cropland, mechanical and electronic equipment have to be developed. Objective: To design, assemble and evaluate (in laboratory and under field conditions) an encoder-based slippage measurement system. Methodology: The system was integrated and tested in the laboratory, where equations were generated to calculate the slippage. The system was installed in an agricultural tractor and its performance was evaluated on an asphalt track and working with tillage implements on various soil conditions. Results: The values obtained with the manual method and the encoder-based method showed very small differences. The results of field evaluation of the system are in congruence with the type of implement and with the moisture content in the soil. This indicates that the measurement of distances by the wheel turns and the calculation of the percentage of slippage are correct. Study limitations: The system was tested in short runs (up to 100 m). Still to be tested in at least 1 ha. Originality: Automated slippage measurement in extended crop areas. Conclusions: The slippage measurement system based on encoders is reliable for automatically measuring the slippage of agricultural tractor in different field conditions.

The utilization of cosmetic raw materials for medicinal purposes in a microneedle patch containing hyaluronic acid (HA) and Lonicerae flos ethanol extract (LEE) has increased based on their eco-friendly characteristics. The moisturizing effects of this microneedle patch were assessed on the forearms of 20 female participants, and our results showed an increase between 29.60% and 88.54% in skin moisture content at the same time points relative to the untreated group. Apart from confirming the safety of HA and Lonicerae flos, our findings may also promote the use of HA and medicinal herbs in relevant industries, indicating their potential as raw ingredients for the development of cosmetic products and topical dermatological drugs. The results suggested that HA, Lonicerae flos, and other combinations of chemical and natural products based on traditional oriental medicine could beneficially affect skin health.
