Injuries have become devastating and often under-recognized public health concerns. In Canada, injuries are the leading cause of potential years of life lost before the age of 65. The geographical patterns of injury, however, are evident both over space and time, suggesting the possibility of spatial optimization of policies at the neighborhood scale to mitigate injury risk, foster prevention, and control within metropolitan regions. In this paper, Canada’s National Ambulatory Care Reporting System is used to assess unintentional and intentional injuries for Toronto between 2004 and 2010, exploring the spatial relations of injury throughout the city, together with Wellbeing Toronto data. Corroborating with these findings, spatial autocorrelations at global and local levels are performed for the reported over 1.7 million injuries. The sub-categorization for Toronto’s neighborhood further distills the most vulnerable communities throughout the city, registering a robust spatial profile throughout. Individual neighborhoods pave the need for distinct policy profiles for injury prevention. This brings one of the main novelties of this contribution. A comparison of the three regression models is carried out. The findings suggest that the performance of spatial regression models is significantly stronger, showing evidence that spatial regressions should be used for injury research. Wellbeing Toronto data performs reasonably well in assessing unintentional injuries, morbidity, and falls. Less so to understand the dynamics of intentional injuries. The results enable a framework to allow tailor-made injury prevention initiatives at the neighborhood level as a vital source for planning and participatory decision making in the medical field in developed cities such as Toronto.

Since more than fifty years, in the Netherlands, the Randstad Holland [1,2] represents a model of reference within the international debate on the sustainable balance between urban areas, infrastructural development and preservation of natural environment. The polycentric urban structure of the country progressively built up a new metropolitan reality of Europe, based on a stable configuration of cities’ spatial relations around the maintenance of the Green Hearth core and on strategic logics of infrastructural developments. However today the double awareness to rebalance growing population of urban areas and to open the region towards North-Central Europe, create fundamental conditions for a renewed expanding vision [3]. The current Dutch metropolitan perspective looks at the densest cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam as main European and international gates, addressing large scale ambitions to clusters of urban developments at the intersection of main roads, railways and local infrastructures. This paper presents an investigative approach and intends to provoke academic discussion on the conflicting and possible relationships between urban policies and design strategies in the construction of a new metropolitan European perspective. Particular emphasis is put on the coordination between contemporary policies with spatial implications in the city of Amsterdam. Exploring its geographical advantages, the City tries to give form to policies’ abstraction of Randstad 2040 vision in the recent structural spatial Agenda, focused on strategic urban and economic cores. The current vision represents the metropolitan ambition of the Netherlands, where the project of Zuidas - literally South Axis - is a prime example of a new model of intermodal urban hub. Throughout the Dutch example, this paper attempts to presentZuidas testing its capability to enhance an innovative approach – in urban policy and spatial implication- to sustainable development.

Notions of order and rules play a key role in organizing the arrangement of built and unbuilt spaces. Order is achieved at various scales, such as the global, the metropolitan, the district and the neighborhood scale, by using formal and informal rules, regulations, plans and policies. Rules are the conduit by which the spatial order of urban areas is implemented and achieved. Combined with order, they are key tenets of modern planning, influencing the layout, patterns, and processes that shape urban areas. Set within the context of a wider understanding of order, rules, adaptation and how the city self-organizes and transforms, this paper examines a typology of order and rules determining the spatial order in informal settlements. The paper views the city as a dynamic system of formal rules, regulations, plans, codes and emergent informal rules, protocols and conventions that modulate and facilitate adaptation, incrementalism and step-by-step housing change in informal settlements. Using a case study of kampung Lebak Sililwangi in Bandung, Indonesia, the research deconstructed the local spatial order that exists and identifies two main rule types, namely defined and understood rules. These rules represent a set of socially acceptable activities, tasks and principles that residents use, modify and adapt to produce and refresh existing built and unbuilt spaces to meet varying needs. Rules may change from understood to defined rules and vice versa, and in this setting, systems of self-organization and arrangement of order continue to evolve and adapt. The paper is aimed at providing a deeper understanding of the nature of order and types of rules, including their relationship to the public interest and the production of negative externalities. Abstrak. Pengertian tatanan dan aturan memainkan peran kunci dalam mengatur penataan ruang terbangun dan tak terbangun. Tatanan dicapai di berbagai skala seperti global, metropolitan, distrik dan lingkungan dengan menggunakan aturan, regulasi, rencana dan kebijakan formal dan informal. Aturan adalah alat dan saluran untuk mencapai dan membangun suatu tatanan ruang wilayah perkotaan. Kombinasi antara tatanan dan aturan adalah prinsip utama dari perencanaan modern yang mempengaruhi tata letak, pola, dan proses yang membentuk daerah perkotaan. Dalam konteks pemahaman tatanan yang lebih luas terkait dengan aturan, adaptasi dan bagaimana kota mengatur dan mentransformasikan diri, makalah ini membahas tipologi tatanan dan aturan yang menentukan tatanan spasial di permukiman informal. Makalah ini memandang kota sebagai sistem dinamis dari aturan formal, regulasi, rencana, kode dan aturan informal yang muncul, protokol dan konvensi yang memodulasi dan memfasilitasi adaptasi, inkrementalisme dan perubahan perumahan bertahap di permukiman informal. Dengan menggunakan studi kasus kampung Lebak Sililwangi di Bandung, Indonesia, penelitian ini mendekonstruksi tatanan ruang lokal yang ada dan mengidentifikasi dua jenis aturan utama, yaitu aturan yang didefinisikan dan dipahami. Aturan-aturan ini mewakili serangkaian aktivitas, tugas, dan prinsip yang dapat diterima secara sosial yang digunakan, dimodifikasi, dan diadaptasi oleh penghuni untuk menghasilkan dan menghidupkan ruang yang sudah dibangun dan yang belum dibangun untuk memenuhi berbagai kebutuhan. Aturan dapat berubah dari aturan yang dipahami menjadi aturan yang didefinisikan dan sebaliknya. Dalam konteks ini, sistem pengaturan mandiri dan pengaturan tatanan terus berkembang dan beradaptasi. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman yang lebih dalam tentang sifat tatanan dan jenis aturan termasuk hubungannya dengan kepentingan publik dan produksi eksternalitas negatif.Kata kunci. pengaturan mandiri, tatanan, aturan, bentuk, struktur, permukiman informal.

Air pollution forecasts in major urban areas are becoming a problem concerning the day to day environmental management for city authorities. This paper describes the development of an application to forecast the peak ozone levels with the aid of meteorological and air quality variables, in the Greater Athens Area. For this purpose, a number of regression models were considered, while the selection of the final model was based on extensive analysis and on literature. The model adapted includes variables that are available on a daily basis, so as daily operational maximum ozone concentration level forecast can be achieved.

The fact that humanity realized the damage it caused to the environment and expressed the situation in scientific meetings has led to the emphasis on the importance of sustainability and to determine the measures and targets to be taken. Considering the future, the measures to be taken and the systems to be implemented in the environment we live in to prevent environmental problems have great importance. The success of sustainability activities on a global scale is possible with the integration of sustainability studies at different scales by harmonizing with each other. The sustainability that will be provided at the residential settlement / neighborhood scale will greatly help to achieve success in urban areas too. The study will focus on examples of sustainable new settlements located outside the city, on the periphery of the city or within the city, as well as existing sustainable settlements that have been transformed and improved in the city. An evaluation will be made on the basis of which principles these settlements have been designed and implemented. In sustainable settlements, the role of the architect in the context of social dynamics will be questioned and inferences about where the architect is located in sustainable settlement design will be evaluated.

Recently, the number of published works devoted to the processes of synanthropization of fauna, is growing like an avalanche, which indicates the extreme urgency of this theme. In our view, the process of forming devices to coexist with human and the results of his life reflects the general tandency of the modern nature evolution. Urbanization is characteristic for such a specific group of animals like amphibians, the evidence of which are numerous literature data. Many researchers use this group to assess the bioindicative quality of the environment. For this aim a variety of indicators are used: from the cellular level of life of organization up to the species composition of the group in different territories. At the same time, the interpretation of the results is not always comparable for different areas and often have significantly different interpretations by experts. Urban environment, primarily due to the contamination is extremely aggressive to amphibians. As a consequence, the urban populations of amphibians may be a change in the demographic structure, affecting the reproductive ability of the population, the disappearance of the most sensitive species or individuals, resizing animals, the appearance of abnormalities in the development, etc. At the same time play an important amphibians in the ecosystems of cities, and some species in these conditions even feel relatively comfortable. Therefore, it is interesting to understand the mechanisms of self-sustaining populations of amphibians in urban environments. To assess the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors on the development of amphibian populations were used cognitive modeling using the program Vensim PLE. Cognitive map of the model for urban and suburban habitat conditions were the same. The differences concerned the strength of connections between individual factors (migration, fertility, pollution) and their orientation. In general, factors like pollution, parasites, predators had negative impact on the population, reducing its number. The birth rate, food and migration contributed to raising number of individuals. Some of the factors affected on the strength to of each other as well: the majority of the factors affected the structure of the population, had an influence on the fertility. Thanks to it the model reflects the additive effect of complex of factors on the subsequent status of the population. Proposed and analyzed four scenarios differing strength and duration of exposure. In the first scenario, a one-time contamination occurs and not subsequently repeated. The second and third scenario assumes half board contamination, 1 year (2 scenario) and two years (scenario 3). In the fourth scenario, the pollution affected the population of amphibians constantly. In accordance with the results of simulation, much weaker than the natural populations respond to pollution - have them as an intensive population growth and its disappearance at constant pollution is slow. Changes to other parameters of the model showed that this pollution is the decisive factor -only the constant action leads to a lethal outcome for the populations. All other components of the model have a corrective effect on the population dynamics, without changing its underlying trand. In urban areas due to the heavy impact of pollution maintaining the population is only possible thanks to the migration process – the constant replenishment of diminishing micropopulations of natural reserves. This confirms the assumption that the form of existence metapopulations lake frog in the city. In order to maintain the number of amphibians in urban areas at a high level it is necessary to maintain existing migration routes and the creation of new ones. Insular nature of the placement of suitable habitats in urban areas causes the metapopulation structure of the types of urbanists. Therefore, the process of urbanization is much easier for those species whicht are capable of migration in conditions of city. In the initial stages of settling the city micropopulationis formed by selective mortality of the most susceptible individuals to adverse effects. In future, maintaining the categories of individuals is provided mainly due to migration processes metapopulisation form of the species of existence is supported). It should be noted that the changes in the previous levels are always saved in future. In the case of reorganizations of individuals we of morphology can assume the existence of extremely adverse environmental conditions that threaten the extinction of the micropopulations. 


Широкое распространение безнадзорных животных на территории городов несет за собой потенциальную угрозу распространения зооантропонозных заболеваний, одним из которых является демодекоз. Невозможно разработать мероприятия, направленные на борьбу с заболеванием и его профилактику, без анализа данных особенностей возникновения и распространения инвазии среди всей популяции восприимчивых животных. Поэтому целью нашей работы явилось изучение распространения демодекоза среди безнадзорных собак и кошек в городе Тюмени. В задачи исследования входило изучение распространения демодекоза и его клинического проявления среди бездомных собак и кошек в условиях города Тюмени и определение сезонной динамики заболевания. Работу выполняли в 2016-2018 гг. на базе кафедры анатомии и физиологии ФГБОУ ВО ГАУ Северного Зауралья, в лаборатории акарологии ВНИИВЭА – филиала ТюмНЦ СО РАН, а также в производственных условиях на базе пункта временного содержания безнадзорных домашних животных МКУ «ЛесПаркХоз». Демодекозная инвазия распространена среди бездомных кошек и собак. Наиболее часто демодекоз встречается у собак, экстенсивность инвазии от 0,65 до 0,72%. Заболевание демодекозом у бездомных собак регистрировали на протяжении всего года, но 54,6% больных собак поступали в апреле и мае. Большинство больных демодекозом – это молодые собаки в возрасте от 1,5 месяцев до 2-х лет – 75,76%, животные старше двух лет гораздо реже страдали от демодекоза – 24,24%. Генерализацию демодекоза регистрировали у 21 собаки (63,64%), а локализованные очаги – у 12 собак (36,36%). Наиболее распространенной формой проявления демодекоза у бездомных собак является пустулезная, или пиодемодекоз. Данная форма заболевания была отмечена у 16 собак (48,49%), чешуйчатая форма отмечалась у 10 собак (30,30%), а смешанная – у 7 собак (21,21%). The widespread use of stray animals in urban areas carries with it the potential threat of the spread of zooanthroponotic diseases, one of which is demodicosis. It is impossible to develop measures aimed at combating the disease and its prevention without analyzing the data on the characteristics of the occurrence and spread of invasion among the entire population of susceptible animals. Therefore, the purpose of our work was to study the distribution of demodicosis among street dogs and cats in the city of Tyumen. The objectives of the study included the study of the spread of demodicosis and its clinical manifestation among stray dogs and cats in the conditions of the city of Tyumen and the determination of the seasonal dynamics of the disease. Demodectic invasion is common among stray cats and dogs. Most often, demodicosis occurs in dogs, with extensive invasion from 0.65 to 0.72%. Demodecosis in stray dogs was recorded throughout the year, but 54.6% of sick dogs were reported in April and May. The majority of patients with demodicosis are young dogs between the ages of 1.5 months and 2 years old - 75.76%, animals older than two years suffer less from demodicosis, only 24.24%. Generalization of demodicosis was recorded in 21 dogs (63.64%), and localized foci in 12 dogs (36.36%). The most common form of demodicosis in stray dogs is pustular or pyodemodecosis. This form of the disease was observed in 16 dogs (48.49%), scaly form, was observed in 10 dogs (30.30%), and mixed in 7 dogs (21.21%).

Fine dust: (PM2.5, PM10) is a priority pollutant that contributes to the development of numerous dis-eases in urban areas. The purpose of this scientific work is to study the dispersed composition of dust parti-cles on the leaves of apricot trees (Prúnus armeníaca) in the residential zone of Volgograd. The novelty of the work lies in the study of the dispersed composition of dust particles on the leaves of apricot trees (Prúnus armeníaca) in the residential zone in the city of Volgograd near the construction industry enterprise, me-chanical engineering, leather production and railway transport line in comparison with the conditionally clean (control) zone of the SNT “Orocenets” ”(Sovetsky District, Volgograd) from the standpoint of random functions expressed by integral distribution curves of the mass of particles over their equivalent diameters. As a result of the research, the dispersed composition of dust on the leaves of apricot trees (Prúnus ar-meníaca) in the residential area of Volgograd was revealed. Fine particles were found: PM2.5, PM10 in each of the studied points, which by their values, both in their number and mass fraction, significantly exceed the data on fine dust in a conditionally clean area (control) in the SNT “Oroshanets” (Sovetsky district Volgo-grad), which creates certain environmental risks for local residents. The dispersed analysis of particles from the standpoint of random functions in the future will allow with a sufficiently high degree of accuracy to pre-dict the dust content of urban atmospheric air in the range of monthly and / or seasonal average values compared to the traditional measurement of fine dust concentration in atmospheric air of the urban environ-ment as the maximum single or daily average. At the same time, further studies of dust on the leaves of plants in an urban environment, namely, the study of the density of its sedimentation, will also reveal a group of ur-ban plants that are best suited to retain PM2.5 and PM10 on leaf plates in this region, which can significantly increase the quality of the atmospheric air of the urban environment and be of a recommendatory nature for the state-owned landscaping services of the city of Volgograd when improving the green areas of a megacity.

BACKGROUND Internet hospitals, or e-hospitals, as one kind of e-health platforms in China, provided novel channels through which physicians present their medical or health-care knowledge to patients and provide online counseling services. The sustainable development of Internet hospitals and e-health platforms relied on the participation of both the patients and the physicians, especially on the provision of health consultation services by the physicians. OBJECTIVE The objective of our study was to explore the factors motivating Chinese physicians to provide online health counseling services from the perspectives of their online reputation and offline reputation. METHODS We collected the data of 141,030 physicians from 6,173 offline hospitals and 350 cities on WeDoctor, an Internet hospital platform authorized by the China Health and Family Planning Committee. We selected the physicians’ online consultation volume, the total amount of counseling conversations from all channels of the platform, as the investigated dependent variable, reflecting the actual online counseling behaviors of the physicians in the platform. Based on the reputation theories and prior study, we incorporated patients’ feedback as the physicians’ online reputation (i.e. patients’ comments and their satisfaction scores), and incorporated the physicians’ offline professional status as the offline reputation (i.e. professional titles and the rankings of their offline working hospitals). We also delved the moderated effects of the city levels where the physicians lived offline and the number of patients who were watching the physicians online. Eight research hypotheses were proposed. Step-wise linear regression models were used to test our hypotheses. Durbin-Watson test and robustness tests were also conducted to ensure the fitness and reliability of our models. RESULTS As a result of the regression models, we found that, 1) physicians’ online reputation, including the number of comments written by the patients (beta=0.588, P<0.001), the satisfaction scores (beta=0.034, P<0.01), significantly and positively influence physicians’ online counseling behaviors; 2) Physicians’ offline reputation, including their professional titles (beta=-0.084, P<0.001) and the hospital rankings (beta=-0.163, P<0.001), significantly and negatively influence physicians’ online counseling behaviors; 3) the city levels where the physicians lived strengthen the negative effect between their offline hospital rankings and their online consulting services (beta=-0.177, P<0.001), indicating that physicians of higher offline reputation spend less time on online counseling, possibly due to the relative heavier offline workload; 4) the number of watching patients weakens the positive effect between patients’ comments and physicians’ online consulting services (beta=-0.216, P<0.001), indicating that the watching patients may switch the channels from online consultation to offline hospital visits after using the Internet hospitals. CONCLUSIONS This study contributed to the literature on physicians online counseling behaviors in Internet hospitals by verifying the contrasting effects of the online reputation and the offline reputation. It then contributed to the motivation theory by separating the online reputation from the offline reputation when the acting entities have constraints of limited time and effort. This study can also provide practical insights for the hospital managers to better arrange for the online counseling services and for the policy makers to consider the patients’ online feedback into the overall evaluation of the physicians’ reputation.

The sustained growth of non-farm wages has led to large-scale migration of rural population to cities in China, especially in mountainous areas. It is of great significance to study the spatial and temporal pattern of population migration mentioned above for guiding population spatial optimization and the effective supply of public services in the mountainous areas. Here, we determined the spatiotemporal evolution of population in the Chongqing municipality of China from 2000–2018 by employing multi-period spatial distribution data, including nighttime light (NTL) data from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program’s Operational Linescan System (DMSP-OLS) and the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (NPP-VIIRS). There was a power function relationship between the two datasets at the pixel scale, with a mean relative error of NTL integration of 8.19%, 4.78% less than achieved by a previous study at the provincial scale. The spatial simulations of population distribution achieved a mean relative error of 26.98%, improved the simulation accuracy for mountainous population by nearly 20% and confirmed the feasibility of this method in Chongqing. During the study period, the spatial distribution of Chongqing’s population has increased in the west and decreased in the east, while also increased in low-altitude areas and decreased in medium-high altitude areas. Population agglomeration was common in all of districts and counties and the population density of central urban areas and its surrounding areas significantly increased, while that of non-urban areas such as northeast Chongqing significantly decreased.

ObjectivesThis study assessed knowledge, beliefs and practices of elite female footballers regarding injury prevention.MethodsA survey was sent to players participating in the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019. Questions covered three injury prevention domains: (1) knowledge; (2) attitudes and beliefs; (3) prevention practices in domestic clubs. Additionally, ACL injury history was assessed.ResultsOut of 552 players, 196 women responded (35.5%). More than 80% of these considered injury risk to be moderate or high. Players listed knee, ankle, thigh, head and groin as the most important injuries in women’s football. The most important risk factors identified were low muscle strength, followed by poor pitch quality, playing on artificial turf, too much training, reduced recovery and hard tackles. In these elite players, 15% did not have any permanent medical staff in their domestic clubs, yet more than 75% had received injury prevention advice and more than 80% performed injury prevention exercises in their clubs. Players identified the two most important implementation barriers as player motivation and coach attitude. Two-thirds of players used the FIFA 11+ programme in their clubs.ConclusionsThis diverse group of elite players demonstrated good knowledge of risk level and injury types in women’s football. Of the risk factors emphasised by players, there was only one intrinsic risk factor (strength), but several factors out of their control (pitch quality and type, training volume and hard tackles). Still players had positive attitudes and beliefs regarding injury prevention exercises and indicated a high level of implementation, despite a lack of medical support.
