Introduction Exercise training is strongly recommended as a therapeutic approach to treat individuals with heart failure. High-intensity exercise training modalities still controversial in this population. The study aims to preliminary assess the consequences of high-intensity exercise training modalities, aerobic interval training (HIIT) and progressive high circuit-resistance training (CRT), on primarily endothelial function and cardiorespiratory fitness, and secondly on muscle strength and physical performance in heart failure patients. Methods This preliminary multicentric randomized controlled trial comprised 23 heart failure patients, aged 56 ± 10 years old, mainly New York Heart Association classification I and II (%), hemodynamically stable, who compromise at least 36 exercise sessions of a randomly assigned intervention (HIIT, CRT or control group). Endothelial function, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, muscle strength and physical performance were completed at baseline and post-intervention. Results Although no effects on endothelial function; both HIIT and CRT modalities were able to produce a positive effect on V˙O2 peak (HIIT = +2.1±6.5, CRT = +3.0±4.2 and control group = -0.1± 5.3 mL/kg/min, time*group p-value<0,05) and METs (HIIT = +0.6±1.8, CRT = +0.9±1.2 and control group = 0±1.6, time*group p-value<0,05). Only HIIT increased isokinetic torque peak (HIIT = +8.8±55.8, CRT = 0.0±60.7 and control group = 1.6±57.6 Nm) matched p-value<0,05. Regarding the physical performance, the CRT modality reduced chair stand test completion time (HIIT = -0.7±3.1, CRT = -3.3±3.2 and control group = -0.3±2.5 s, matched p-value<0,05 and HIIT improved global physical performance(time*group p<0,05). Conclusion This preliminary study trends to indicate for the first time that high-intensity interval training promotes a jointly superior effect compared to progressive high intensity circuit-resistance training by improving cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength, and physical performance. Further research with larger cohort is necessary. Clinical trial registration number ReBEC RBR-668c8v.

The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of 4-week small-sided games (SSG) and high-intensity interval training with changes of direction (HIT-COD) on physical performance and specific technical skills in female collegiate basketball players. Nineteen players were divided into SSG (n = 9) and HIT-COD (n = 10) groups, that performed either SSG or HIT-COD three times per week for 4 weeks during the pre-season. Players’ heart rate (HR) and perceived exertion responses (RPE) were assessed during the intervention. Before and after the intervention period, performances were assessed with 30-15 intermittent fitness test (30-15IFT), repeated sprint ability (RSA) test, modified agility T-test (MAT), countermovement jump (CMJ), 20-m sprint, shooting accuracy test, 1 min shooting test, passing test, defensive movement test and control dribble test. Both training interventions led to similar physiological and perceived exertion responses, showing no significant differences in HR ( P = .49, d = 0.2) and RPE ( P = .77, d = 0.1) between groups. Significant improvements were observed in 30-15IFT (SSG: 4.1%, d = 1.5; HIT-COD: 4.2%, d = 1.7), RSAmean (SSG: −2.2%, d = 1.0; HIT-COD: −1.9%, d = 1.0), RSAbest (SSG: −2.0%, d = 0.9; HIT-COD: −2.1%, d = 1.1), MAT (SSG: −7.2%, d = 1.7; HIT-COD: 5.7%, d = 1.5), defensive movement test (SSG: −5.1%, d = 2.1; HIT-COD: −5.8%, d = 1.8) and control dribble test (SSG: −3.4%, d = 1.0; HIT-COD: −2.6%, d = 1.0). The only significant group × time interaction was found ( P = .032, [Formula: see text] = 0.24), with SSG improving 1 min shooting (22.4%, d = 1.0) and HIT-COD performing slightly worse (−2.6%, d = 0.1) after a 4-week intervention. The current study suggests that using SSG is more effective than HIT-COD for female collegiate basketball players in pre-season, since SSG improves physical performance and basketball-specific movements as well as shooting abilities after a 4-week intervention.

Heart failure patients with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (HFpEF) have endothelial dysfunction, but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unknown. In addition, whether exercise training improves endothelial function in HFpEF is still controversial. The present study therefore aimed to determine the functional and molecular alterations in the endothelium associated with HFpEF, while further assessing the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIT). Female Dahl salt-sensitive rats were randomized for 28 wk into the following groups: 1) control: fed 0.3% NaCl; 2) HFpEF: fed 8% NaCl; and 3) HFpEF + HIT: animals fed 8% NaCl and HIT treadmill exercise. Echocardiography and invasive hemodynamic measurements were used to assess diastolic dysfunction. Endothelial function of the aorta was measured in vitro. Expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-oxidase [NAD(P)H oxidase], and advanced glycation end product (AGE)-modified proteins were quantified by Western blot, and zymography quantified matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity. In this model of HFpEF, endothelium-dependent and -independent vasodilation was impaired. However, this was prevented by HIT. In HFpEF protein expression of eNOS was reduced by 47%, but MMP-2 and MMP-9 activity was elevated by 186 and 68%. The expression of AGE-modified proteins was increased by 106%. All of these changes were prevented by HIT. Endothelial function was impaired in this model of HFpEF, which was associated with reduced expression of eNOS, increased MMP activity, and increased AGE-modified proteins. HIT was able to attenuate both these functional and molecular alterations. These findings therefore suggest HFpEF induces endothelial dysfunction, but this is reversible by HIT.

Background and Study Aim. This study was to investigate the effects of low-intensity interval training on the physiological variables of university students. Material and Methods. Forty male sports science students aged 18-25 years were randomly assigned to the Experimental group (n=20) and the Control group (n=20). The Experimental group underwent low-intensity interval training for eight weeks, whereas the Control group did not. Measurements of physiological variables such as resting heart rate, respiratory rate, recovery heart rate, breath-hold time, maximal oxygen uptake, and blood pressure were obtained for all subjects before and after the intervention. To compare the mean physiological variables between the experimental and control groups, an independent samples t-test was used. Results. Statistical significance was set at p 0.05. After the training intervention, the experimental group showed significantly better improvements than the control group in resting heart rate, respiratory rate, recovery heart rate, breath-holding time, maximal oxygen uptake, and blood pressure (p 0.05). Post intervention maximum oxygen uptake was statistically significant with t (38) = 3.086, p value 0.004. Post experiment systolic blood pressure was statistically significant with t (38) = -2.405, p value 0.021 for low intensity interval training and control group. Post experiment diastolic blood pressure was statistically highly significant with t (38) = 0.569, p value 0.001 for low intensity interval training and control group. The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference in post rest heart rate, respiratory rate, recovery heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, breath holding and maximal oxygen uptake between the low intensity interval training and the control group (p 0.05). Conclusions. Thus, it was concluded that eight weeks of low-intensity interval training show significant improvement in physiological variables of university students.

El presente estudio de alcance explicativo, realizado bajo un diseño cuasiexperimental de preprueba-posprueba y grupo control, determinó el efecto de un programa de entrenamiento interválico aeróbico de alta intensidad (HIIT) que utilizó juegos motores y circuitos sociomotrices, durante 16 semanas (tres sesiones semanales) para el incremento del consumo de oxígeno pico (VO2pico) y disminución del índice de masa corporal (IMC) y porcentaje de grasa (%GC) en niñas con sobrepeso u obesidad de 10 y 11 años de la sede Marino Dávalos de la Institución Educativa Moderna de Tuluá, distribuidas en dos grupos, experimental (n=8) y control (n=8). Entre los resultados más importantes, se destaca el aumento del VO2pico en 3.6 ml/kg/min, la disminución del IMC en 1.62 y del %GC donde se apreció una disminución del 3.72% en el grupo experimental; mientras que en el grupo control, no se observaron modificaciones estadísticamente significativas; concluyendo el estudio que el programa HIIT que utilizó como medio los juegos motores y circuitos sociomotrices, presentó efectos significativos en el incremento del VO2pico y disminución del IMC y el %GC de las niñas con sobrepeso u obesidad, validando de esta manera la hipótesis de investigación, con niveles de significancia estadística (p< .05) para la prueba de muestras relacionadas (p= .000 para el VO2pico, p=.000 para %GC y p=.000 para IMC). Abstract. The present explanatory scope study, carried out under a quasi-experimental design of pretest-posttest and control group, determined the effect of a high intensity aerobic interval training (HIIT) program that used motor games and sociomotor circuits, for 16 weeks (three sessions weekly) for the increase in peak oxygen consumption (VO2peak) and decrease in body mass index (BMI) and percentage of fat (% GC) in overweight or obese girls of 10 and 11 years of age from the Marino Dávalos headquarters of the Institution Educativa Moderna de Tuluá, divided into two groups, experimental (n = 8) and control (n = 8). Among the most important results, the increase in VO2peak by 3.6 ml/kg/min, the decrease in BMI by 1.62 and the% GC where a decrease of 3.72% was observed in the experimental group stand out; while in the control group, no statistically significant changes were observed; The study concluded that the HIIT program that used motor games and sociomotor circuits as a means, presented significant effects in the increase of the VO2peak and decrease of the BMI and the% GC of the girls with overweight or obesity, thus validating the research hypothesis. , with levels of statistical significance (p <.05) for the test of related samples (p = .000 for VO2peak, p = .000 for % GC and p = .000 for BMI).

We investigated the effects of 12 weeks of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on selected circulating adipokines and other cardiovascular diseases risks factors in men with obesity. Thirty men with obesity (age: 24.96 ± 3.11 year, BMI: 30.92 ± 1.04 kg/m2) were randomly assigned to HIIT and control groups. The HIIT group participated in a 12-week HIIT program (5×2 min interval bout at an intensity of 85-95% HRmax interspersed by 1 min passive recovery, three times per week), while the control group maintained their usual lifestyles. Blood lipids, insulin resistance, and select serum adipokines were assessed before and after 12 weeks of the intervention period. HIIT improved body composition and lipid profiles (p<0.05) and also decreased fasting insulin levels (p=0.001) and HOMA-IR (p=0.002) levels. Furthermore, HIIT increased levels of lipocalin-2 (p=0.002) while decreasing omentin-1 levels (p=0.001) in men with obesity. Changes in lcn2 and omentin-1 concentrations correlated with the changes in risk factors in the HIIT group (p<0.05). The results indicate that 12 weeks of supervised HIIT significantly improves both circulating concentrations of lcn2 and omentin-1, two recently described adipokines, and risk markers of cardiovascular diseases in men with obesity. Further research is necessary to understand the molecular mechanisms involved with these changes.

Background and Objectives: Appetite is an essential factor in obesity. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on GLP-1, appetite, and weight of obese mice while maintaining a high caloric diet. Subjects and Methods A total of 24 C57BL/6 mice with a Mean±SD weight of 20.7±1 g were selected. After implementing a high caloric dieting and making them fat (Mean±SD weight: 30.95±3.23 g), they were divided into two groups of training and control. A high caloric diet was maintained for both groups (training and control) until the end of the experiment, while the training group performed HIIT for 8 weeks. Every session of HIIT included 30 minutes of exercise with a progressive intensity of 50% to 60% in low-intensity intervals and 80% to 90% in high-intensity intervals. The independent t test and analysis of variance with repeated measures were used for data analysis. Results Findings of the study indicated that GLP-1 increased significantly in the HIIT training group compared to the control group (P<0.05). In the HIIT group, body weight was significantly higher (P<0.001), and food intake was significantly lower (P<0.001) than those in the control group. Conclusion When consuming high-calorie food, HIIT training can probably cause weight loss through reducing appetite mediated by increasing GLP-1

      The Aim of this study was to determine Immunogenetic expression of  Toll-like receptor gene clusters related to prostatitis, to give acknowledge about Role of TLR in prostatitis immunity in men from Basrah and Maysan provinces. A case–control study included 135 confirmed prostatitis patients And 50 persons as a control group. Data about age, marital status, working, infertility, family history and personal information like (Infection, Allergy, Steroid therapy, Residency, Smoking, Alcohol Drinking, Blood group, Body max index (BMI) and the clinical finding for all patients of Prostatitis were collected. This study shows the effect of PSA level in patients with prostatitis and control group, with P-value <0.0001 therefore the study shows a positive significant between elevated PSA levels and Prostatitis.

In the last few decades, the incidence of caesarean section is increasing in the world, especially in Indonesia. One of the way to treat tissue scar is through biologic and synthetic dressing where nowadays, amnion has been used as biologic dressing frequently. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the use of fresh amniotic membrane on wound incision Caesarean section compared with Caesarean section incision wound covered using regular gauze bandages and fixated with plaster in RS. Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang. The design of this study is an experimen-tal study with Post test design with control group design. Sampling was done using a formula consecutive sampling two different test samples obtained an average of 72 people for each group. The analysis used include univariate and bivariate analyzes. The average wound healing time the difference was statistically significant (p value <0.05) in the treatment and control groups. There was highly significant difference in the proportion of local infection on day 3 between the treatment and control groups (p value <0.05). There were very significant differences in the proportion of local allergic reactions at day 3, and 5 between the treatment and control group (p <0.05). There are significant differences in terms of the cost of care per day between treatment and control groups (p <0.05). The aim of this research was to compare the effects of a technique-specific high-intensity interval training (HIIT) protocol vs. traditional taekwondo training on physical fitness and body composition in taekwondo athletes, as well as to analyse the inter-individual response. Utilising a parallel controlled design, sixteen male and female athletes (five females and 11 males) were randomly divided into an experimental group (EG) that participated in the technique-specific HIIT and a control group (CG) that participated in traditional taekwondo training. Both groups trained three days/week for four weeks. Squat jump (SJ), countermovement jump (CMJ), 5-metre sprint (5M), 20-metre shuttle run (20MSR), taekwondo specific agility test (TSAT), multiple frequency speed of kick test (FSKTMULT), total kicks, and kick decrement index (KDI), as well as body composition were evaluated. Results indicate that there are no significant differences (p > 0.05) in the factors group and time factor and group by time interaction (p > 0.05). Although percentage and effect size increases were documented for post-intervention fitness components in TSAT, total kicks, KDI, and 20MSR, responders and non-responders were also documented. In conclusion, a HIIT protocol based on taekwondo-specific technical movements does not report significant differences in fitness and body composition compared to traditional taekwondo training, nor inter-individual differences between athletes.
