The development of science and technology has an impact on the use of technology in education. The application of educational technology in learning is aimed at creating more effective, efficient, and meaningful learning for children. Meanwhile, Islam, which is revealed as a paradigm, explains that education is the best way in developing human nature as well as human resources towards the formation of ‘Insan Kamil’. One of the notable Moslem thinkers worthen to be discussed in this case study is Abdullah Nashih 'Ulwan who has written a monumental work in education entitled ‘Tarbiyatul Aulad fil Islam’. This study sought answers to Ulwan's contributions in the development of early childhood education. The results of this study show that Ulwan's thought cannot be separated from a particular movement namely ‘Ikhwanul Muslimin’. The critical foundation of Ulwan's thinking on child education is essentially derived from his thinking about fitrah. Fitrah, according to ‘Ulwan, is a nature in which humans have a tendency of innate good and evil. Therefore, children at their early age require particular forms of conditioning to develop learners’ type of personality through three approaches namely: the formulation of appropriate child education methods, the establishment of educator readiness and attachment to children, and the conditioning of early childhood education environments.

Children’s right to participate in all matters and decisions affecting them has gained recognition in society. Its promotion is recommended from an early age – namely, in early childhood education settings – and it is described as benefiting children, adults and the community in general. Given the complex and polysemic meaning of participation, different conceptualizations, models and perspectives have emerged. In this article, the authors provide a theoretical overview, describing relevant models, concepts and contributions from distinct perspectives and fields of knowledge – sociological, educational, developmental and sociocultural – as well as contributions from social policy. This overview is particularly relevant to inform research and practice about children’s participation in early childhood education.

This study aims at describing and analyzing the internalization of national awareness through raudlotul athfal (RA; an Islamic early childhood education institution) with the spirit of Aswaja an-Nahdliyah. Aswaja an-Nahdliyah is an ideology adopted by Nahdlatul Ulama, a major Islamic religious organization in Indonesia. This study argues that the internalization of the national awareness needs to be instilled from early age to anticipate the influence of globalization which is feared to erode the original character of a nation. Within the study, the qualitative method was adopted in order to answer two research questions: (1) how Islamic early childhood educational institutions develop nationalism awareness through the teachings of Ahlusunnah wal Jamaah; and (2) how the institutions construct the awareness of nationalism through the teachings of Ahlusunnah wal Jamaah. The results of the study show that the internalization of nationalism awareness through Islamic early childhood education institutions with the Aswaja an-Nahdliyah’s spirit has been carried out through curriculum content which has been systematically arranged in each research subject with the principle of considering early childhood characteristics. At the same time, the results of the study also show that the construction of nationalism awareness in the Islamic early childhood education institutions can be seen in Islamic holidays and national activities which were held on the Islamic early childhood institutions.

The development of psychomotor skills in childhood enables children to organise the outside world through their bodies, contributing to their intellectual, affective, and social development. The present study aimed to longitudinally evaluate the psychomotor profile, throughout three academic years, of 3, 4 and 5-year-olds belonging to the second cycle of infant school, relating it descriptively to academic performance. The sample consisted of 82 subjects aged between 3 and 6 years throughout the study. The distribution of the sample was homogeneous, with 47.6% boys (n = 39) and 52.4% girls (n = 43). The results not only highlight the importance of the development and stimulation of motor skills from an early age for the overall development of the child, but also, when related to previous studies, show how they influence the development of human beings in adulthood.

The dynamics of the development of educational institutions in Indonesia cannot be stopped, let alone limit the rapid development of institutions. Not a few institutions have closed down due to the lack of interest in the community to send their children to school. The problem basically concerns the quality of the institution, especially human resources who play a role as the subject or manager of the institution. For quality institutions, it is certain that they will not be displaced by global developments and the demands of the community for quality education. The research method of this article is qualitative research with a descriptive analysis approach. This type of research is a case study with a multi-case design considering the choice of two research institutions even though one shelter, namely early childhood education and primary school Anak Saleh Malang City. The results showed that early childhood education has four strategies in improving the quality of human resources, including: training, professional development, career development, and performance appraisal. One of the four strategies has the theme of developing human resources through workshops on the responsibilities of employees in schools and families. Meanwhile, the Saleh Children Primary School has three strategies for developing human resources, namely: monitoring, evaluation and follow-up. Among the three strategies, one of the activity designs is the awarding of employees through employee and teacher months including the involvement of parents in follow-up programs. Keywords: Quality, Human Resources, SDGs, Saleh Children
