Early research investigated the students understanding of science concepts using physical equipment, such as visiting labs and performing experiments but due to the advancement of new technology, students now can learn complex science concepts through advanced means, such as iPad, smart books and simulations. In Pakistan, interactive computer simulation program is rarely used for teaching at the early ages. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the interactive computer simulation program PhET to teach weight and mass concepts to high school students. Quasi-experimental design was used to study the effect of the interactive computer simulation on students’ physics concepts. Study also explored the student’s engagement with simulation to exercise high order thinking skills. The experimental group was taught with the interactive computer simulation program, and the control group was taught with traditional teaching method. There were five lessons each week, and the program was used for a month. Pre- and post-tests were designed for both experimental and control groups. The study investigated the effectiveness of Co-operative E-learning approach (CELA) on students’ attitude towards Chemistry. The Solomon Four Group, Non-equivalent Control Group Design was employed in the study. The study was carried out in Koibatek sub-county, Kenya where there has been a persistent low achievement in the subject. 489 form three students from twelve county schools, purposively selected from the sub-county were taught the same course content on the mole for a period of five weeks. The experiment groups received their instructions through the use of CELA approach and control groups using the conventional teaching method. The researcher trained the teachers in the experimental groups on the technique of CELA before treatment. Student Attitude Questionnaire (SAQ) was used for data collection. The results of the study indicated that students in experimental groups outperformed those in the control groups. Also, there were no statistically significant differences in the mean score in SAQ between boys and girls exposed to CELA. Girls and boys performed equally well in altitudes towards Chemistry. Chemistry teachers should be encouraged to incorporate CELA method.

The aim of the study was to identify The effectiveness of the use of The Flipped Classroom Strategy in The Development of The Algebraic Thinking Skills of high School students and to achieve the objective of the study, the symbol of the study consisted of (56)female Secondary school students in the Secondary stage randomly divided into two groups one which consisted of (29) female students who study the Unit of "Sequences and Series" using Flipped Classroom, in addition the other students were taught the same topics in the usual way from (27) female students. In addition, the measurement test was conducted in the form of the algebraic thinking skill and the preparation of the teacher's guide in the light of the flipping the classroom using "Articulate Storylines (3)", the use of the Educational Platform "Edmodo", and the preparation guide of the activities for the students . The data were processed statistically. The results indicated a statistically Significant differences (0.05) Between that mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the skill of exploring relationships and algebraic functions in the favor of the group’s experimental students attributed To the use of the flipped classroom strategy, and no statistically significant differences (0.50) Between that mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the skill of (patterns and algebraic generalization, use representations and algebraic symbols), and In general there was no statistically significant differences between (0.05) between the average scores of the female students in the experimental and control groups in the post- application to test algebraic thinking skills in the total score. Based on the Findings a number of recommendations and proposals were presented that could contribute to the development and enrichment of mathematics education.

    The effect of using differentiated teaching strategy in the development of creative thinking skills in second secondary students in the subject of mathematics and improve attitudes towards it. To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher prepared a teacher's guide for the use of differentiated teaching strategy in teaching mathematics of the second secondary grade, , as the researcher prepared a measure of attitudes towards interpretation, The researcher used quasi- experimental approach. The study sample consisted of (80) students divided into four groups (2) experimental (male and female) and (2) control (male and female), the experimental group has been taught using differentiated teaching strategy while the control group did not use this strategy, and in the end of the experiment the Torrance Verbal Test of Creative Thinking and the trends measurement were applied on the experimental and control groups. The results of the study showed a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the experimental and control groups students in applying Torrance creative thinking test in each skill of the three creative thinking skills and on the test as a whole. As well as the trends scale towards mathematics of these differences for the experimental group students who have studied using the differentiated teaching strategy. As the results of the study showed no statistically significant differences between the average scores of the experimental group and control group students due to the variable gender. In light of the results, the researcher made a number of suggestions and recommendations.

The study assessed the effect of English and Yoruba interpreted biology picture labels as an advance organiser on the achievement of senior secondary school biology students in Ile-Ife. It also investigated the effect of the labels on students’ attitude toward biology. The study adopted the non-equivalent pre-test-post-test control group research design. The population for the study consisted of senior secondary school students in Ife-East Local Government Area of Osun state. The study sample comprised 128 senior secondary school II biology students in three intact classes selected using simple random sampling technique. The three classes were randomly assigned to two experimental and one control group, namely: Picture labels in English advance organiser group, picture labels interpreted into Yoruba advance organiser group and the conventional teaching method group. Two research instruments were used for the study, namely: Students’ achievement test in biology and students’ attitudinal questionnaire. Data were analysed using analysis of covariance. The results of the study revealed that there was a significant effect in the achievement of students in the experimental and control groups. There was also a significant effect in the attitude of students in experimental and control groups, with Yoruba interpreted picture labels having a better effect on the learning outcomes of biology students than picture labels in English and the conventional teaching method. The study concluded that picture labels interpreted into Yoruba as advance organiser was a better strategy in improving students’ learning outcomes in biology.   Keywords: Achievement; advance organiser; attitude; picture; Yoruba language

In this study, to examine the change in individuals' critical thinking skills, a new unit was developed in which STEM was integrated. The outcomes of this 7th-grade unit were selected from related disciplines. During the learning process of the developed Force and Energy unit, it was aimed that individuals could make judgments by gaining critical thinking skills and evaluate events in a multi-dimensional way. In this study, which lasted for five weeks, the developed unit was used to conduct lessons with the experimental group (N=25) while the control group (N=25) was traditionally taught. The Critical Thinking Scales developed by Demir (2006a) were used in the research process. Before the implementation, no significant difference was found between the experimental and control groups regarding critical thinking skills, but after the implementation, a significant difference was observed in favour of the experimental group. When the scores obtained from the sub-scales (interpretation and explanation) were compared, a significant difference was found in favour of the experimental group. When the changes in the experimental and control groups were examined, there was no significant change in the control group students, but a significant change was found in favour of the experimental group. These changes occurred in the evaluation, Interpretation, and explanation sub-scales of the critical thinking scale.

Background: High mobile-phone dependency may cause cognitive, emotional, and academic impairments among students; hence, proper therapies should be performed to prevent the risk. Objectives: The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the nomophobia therapy package on self-esteem and nomophobia symptoms in high school students. Methods: The research method was quasi-experimental with a pre-test, post-test, and follow-up design and a control group. The statistical population included all the students showing nomophobia symptoms who were in high schools in Isfahan in the academic year of 2018 - 2019. Using purposive sampling, we selected 30 students willing to participate in the project and randomly divided them into experimental (n = 15) and control (n = 15) groups. The research instrument included Nomophobia Questionnaire and Self-Esteem Questionnaire. The experimental group underwent eight sessions (75-minute sessions per week) of nomophobia therapy. The follow-up was performed after two months. Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics, such as mean, standard deviation, and repeated measures ANOVA. SPSS version 23.0 was further used to analyze the data. Results: The mean ± SD of the post-test scores of self-esteem and nomophobia symptoms were (19.26 ± 3.34) and (50.60 ± 5.07) in the experimental group and (13.46 ± 2.47) and (71.63 ± 8.47) in the control groups. The difference between the scores of the experimental and control groups in the pre-test was not significant (all P-values were > 0.05). Also, the post-test scores did not have a significant difference from the follow-up scores (all P-values were > 0.05). Nomophobia therapy effectively increased self-esteem in students with nomophobia symptoms in the experimental group (P = 0.0001). The training intervention sessions decreased the nomophobia symptoms of high school students in the experimental groups compared to the control group (P = 0.0001). Conclusions: According to research findings, nomophobia therapy was an efficient therapy for improving self-esteem and reducing nomophobia symptoms in students who suffer from the syndrome.

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a collective term for the positional and geometric isomers of a conjugated diene of linoleic acid (C18:2, n-6). The aims of the present study were to evaluate whether levels of hepatic α-tocopherol, α-tocopherol transfer protein (α-TTP), and antioxidant enzymes in mice were affected by a CLA-supplemented diet. C57BL/6 J mice were divided into the CLA and control groups, which were fed, respectively, a 5 % fat diet with or without 1 g/100 g of CLA (1:1 mixture of cis-9, trans-11 and trans-10, cis-12) for four weeks. α-Tocopherol levels in plasma and liver were significantly higher in the CLA group than in the control group. Liver α-TTP levels were also significantly increased in the CLA group, the α-TTP/β-actin ratio being 2.5-fold higher than that in control mice (p<0.01). Thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances were significantly decreased in the CLA group (p<0.01). There were no significant differences between the two groups in levels of three antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and catalase). The accumulation of liver α-tocopherol seen with the CLA diet can be attributed to the antioxidant potential of CLA and the ability of α-TTP induction. The lack of changes in antioxidant enzyme protein levels and the reduced lipid peroxidation in the liver of CLA mice are due to α-tocopherol accumulation.

The study models of a group of adult Sri Lankan patients with clefts of the secondary palate were investigated. Tooth-size and arch-dimension comparisons were made with a comparable control group. Significant differences were found between the cleft and control groups in tooth sizes, chord lengths, and arch widths. The cleft group dimensions were generally smaller than those of the control group. Overjets were larger in the cleft group.

This thesis is focused on the investigation of the effect of applying animal cartoon pictures on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. This study aims to find whether applying animal cartoon pictures significantly affect the students’ writing achievement or not. The data in this study were obtained by administering a written test. The population was the 2015/2016 first year (grade XI) of SMA Swasta Nusantara Lubuk Pakam and 66 students were taken as the sample by using random sampling. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental and control groups. The experimental group was taught by applying animal cartoon pictures while the control group without animal cartoon pictures (x = lecturing). The data were taken the scores from the pre-test and post-test to both experimental and control groups. These data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of computing the t-test obviously showed that t-observed is higher than t-table (5.21 >1,67) with the degree of freedom 64 (df =N-2) at the level significance 0,05 one tail test. It showed that the application of animal cartoon pictures significantly affected the students of SMA Swasta Nusantara Lubuk Pakam achievement in writing narrative text.
