Purpose – Research on the demographic characteristics of top management team (TMT) on e-commerce adoption has really advanced. Although some of such studies factored location factors as e-commerce adoption drivers, rare attempts have been made to unravel if the differences in the demographic composition of TMT and the rate of adoption may be explained by the differences in the firm’s geographical location. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to bridge this knowledge gap by proposing a framework that conceives and measures geographical location as a contextual variable between e-commerce adoption and TMT composition. Design/methodology/approach – Data were generated from the opinions of owners/managers of 226 SMEs drawn purposefully from registered SMEs in five industries located in three geo-political zones of Nigeria. Two cities (a state capital and a commercial nerve centre) were studied and a four-step hierarchical regression (spanning factor-loading) was used to test the hypotheses. Findings – Evidence from the study shows that the hypothesized relationships between demographic factors and e-commerce adoption (main/direct effects) were statistically significant (supporting H1-H4). The two moderators (physical infrastructures and industrial specialization) that explained location factors were equally statistically significant in moderating the relationship between the demographic composition of TMT and e-commerce adoption. Research limitations/implications – Sampling the opinions of SMEs in some industries of three geo-political zones of Nigeria limits the power of generalization. Therefore, extended data and measures are required to replicate the study in order to build external validity and reliability, and possibly theories. Further, some errors seem unavoidable in the course of converting the data through SPSS procedure just as all the measures used appear subjective and prone to common method bias. Other demographic and location factors not captured in the study may be handled by future studies. Originality/value – The work will be of benefit to the academia and practitioners in terms of showing how location factors dictate the relationship between the demographic composition of top management and e-commerce adoption. The paper raises pointers that stimulate future research and advised policy-makers on even or near-even distribution of infrastructural facilities.

Introduction: Since the emergence of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus, the disease has spread rapidly throughout the world and became a traumatic stressor. Identification of the factors affecting the spread of the disease makes it possible to prevent its further propagation and save more people in similar situations. Environmental and climatic parameters are among the factors affecting the prevalence of diseases. Determination of environmental effects on Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) prevalence can help develop policies to suppress the spread. Methods: This study investigated the effect of climatic parameters on the spread of COVID-19 disease in County Maricopa from March 11, 2020, to November 30, 2020. These parameters include maximum, minimum, and mean daily temperature as well as maximum, minimum, and mean daily humidity, wind speed, solar radiation, and Air Quality Index (AQI) of particulate matter10 (PM10), PM2.5, and O3. A Shapiro-Wilk test was used to evaluate the normality of variables and the Spearman correlation test was used to determine the correlation between parameters and daily COVID-19 cases. A simple linear regression was applied on parameters that had significant Spearman’sranked correlation with the daily COVID-19 cases to determine their contribution to the pandemic. Results: The present study showed that the maximum, minimum, and mean temperature parameters and PM10 and PM2.5 particles had a positive and significant correlation (P<0.01) with the prevalence of COVID-19 disease. The effect of PM10 particles was higher than the other parameters (0.488, P<0.01). The parameters of maximum, minimum, and mean relative humidity along with solar radiation and O3 AQI had a significant and negative correlation with the development of COVID-19 disease (P<0.01). The effect of maximum humidity was higher than that of the other parameters (-0.364, P<0.01). A linear regression test showed that O3 (β=-15.16, P<0.001) and Tmean (β=18.47, P<0.01) significantly predicted daily COVID-19 cases. Conclusion: It can be concluded that climatic parameters can affect the COVID-19 pandemic and should be addressed.

This study aims to analyze several factors that affect cattle rowing patterns as well as their costs, receipts and contributions to the household income of livestock farmers in Taebenu Subdistrict, Kupang Regency, NTT. The research sample of 100 people was grouped into two groups: group I (50 row cattle farmers) and group II (50 non-row cattle farmers). Determination of the number of farmer samples follows slovin formula with random sampling method. Data on factors that influence the decisions of farmers' households are analyzed with binary logistics regression analysis. Meanwhile, the income of cattle farmers and non-rowdy cattle was analyzed by household income analysis. The results showed that the analysis of binary logistics regression using simultaneous tests showed that independent variables (X) namely X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6 significantly influenced dependent variables (Y). The average household income of cattle farmers rowdy pattern is Rp 13,327,080 with the contribution of income from the business of cattle rowing by 21.93%, while the average household income of non-rowdy cattle farmers (privately owned) Rp 12,820,488 with the contribution of income from non-row cattle businesses amounted to 22.93%. From the results of household income shows the household income of cattle farmers row pattern higher than the household income of non-row cattle farmers (privately owned).

A given explanatory theory T falls into circular reasoning if the only way to determine its explanandum is through the application of T. To find an (often previous) underlying theory T′ that determines T′s explanandum helps us save T from this accusation of circularity. We follow the structuralist view of theories in presenting and dealing with this issue, by applying it to particular theories. More specifically, we focus on the relationship between the Darwinian theory of common ancestry and the determination of homologies.

Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the contributions of the balanced scorecard (BSC) methods to identify the relationship between the objectives and activities and examine how the BSC should be formed in a manufacturing company. The BSC framework was examined via a case study in a yarn manufacturing company. The activities to be carried out by the company to achieve its objectives and how the appropriate measures are determined in evaluating the contribution of the activities to the achievement of objectives are explained under the BSC approach. The BSC implementation and adaptation have facilitated in a family owned company because of its fast decision-making process. Objectives are made clear in accordance with the company’s strategy and causal relationship between objectives and activities are linked by the strategy map. The BSC implementation shows that financial measures are not enough to evaluate the effects of all the activities on the objectives in a company. The cooperation between departments in the company and the efficiency of corporation meetings increases. The meetings have become more result-oriented due to clarifying objectives and responsibility of individual levels.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors that influence consumers’ shopping behaviour from farm shops. Design/methodology/approach The study is based on the theory of planned behaviour (TPB). Data were gathered in 2015 and 2016 via a quantitative written survey of 135 pedestrians in a structured questionnaire in Naumburg, East Germany. The authors use the variance-based, partial least squares subfamily of structural equation models for the analysis, allowing the authors to investigate the causes of the formation of attitudes, social norms and perceived behavioural control (PBC) related to buying from farm shops. Findings Seen through the TPB prism, the most powerful explanatory construct in the model is PBC. This is followed by favourable attitudes towards buying at the farm gate. Interestingly, the injunctive norms construct is not significant, while the descriptive norms construct is. This means that the observed behaviour of relevant peers is more strongly linked to buying at the farm gate than what significant others want respondents to do. Originality/value Farm shops are one of the innovative distribution channels used by farmers to sell regional products directly to consumers. Studies that analyse the factors that have an effect on consumer behaviour when buying food from farm shops are very scarce. This paper fills this gap and the findings have implications for communications to consumers and labelling.
