Summary In this study - based on the result of own and others empirical research, regarding conditions of person’s functioning in the process of work during the last decade of 2000’s - an attempt of indicating dilemmas connected with shaping of employment security has been made. The field of study was approached not only from the perspective of employees and employers, but also with the intent of showing the diversity of solutions adopted in this area The results of presented research have confirmed the validity of solutions postulated by science, in relation to the results of monitoring of the turbulent economic environment and the progressing changes in employees’ expectations

Abstract:We have a very decent belief structure or general paradigm underlying Business Ethics as a formal field of study. It has an explicit moral base. It can be stated in simple and direct terms. It has been developed over a number of recent years by a group of respected scholars from a variety of academic disciplines. It is, however, subject to multiple interpretations and open to extensive conflicts. We can easily tolerate if not benefit from the differing interpretations. We must—at some point—moderate if not resolve the debilitating conflicts. The argument I wish to make in this paper is that we have reached that point. It is time to resolve the conflicts, and the way to do so is to generate awkward, undeniable facts through basic empirical research. Those facts will then have to be incorporated into acceptable—and eventually accepted—theory.

Abstract Although it is a relatively new field of study, the animal cognition literature is quite extensive and difficult to synthesize. This paper explores the contributions a comprehensive, computational, cognitive model can make toward organizing and assimilating this literature, as well as toward identifying important concepts and their interrelations. Using the LIDA model as an example, a framework is described within which to integrate the diverse research in animal cognition. Such a framework can provide both an ontology of concepts and their relations, and a working model of an animal’s cognitive processes that can compliment active empirical research. In addition to helping to account for a broad range of cognitive processes, such a model can help to comparatively assess the cognitive capabilities of different animal species. After deriving an ontology for animal cognition from the LIDA model, we apply it to develop the beginnings of a database that maps the cognitive facilities of a variety of animal species. We conclude by discussing future avenues of research, particularly the use of computational models of animal cognition as valuable tools for hypotheses generation and testing.

In a constantly changing social, technological, and economic environment, schools not only need to adapt but to learn continuously. One of the most significant and most current fields of school learning in Hungary and worldwide is one of the digital competencies. In this paper, I present the concept of digital competencies and the learning organization, offering an overview of different interpretations and frameworks and draw connections between them. The study suggests interrelations between schools’ learning organizational and digital competence capacities and proposes future empirical research on the topic.

- While recognizing the weakness of Italian industrial relations with respect to the British context, in academic and associative terms as well as in terms of empirical research, the Authors stress the frequent attacks to which industrial relations, both as a field of study and as social and economic practice, are exposed also in Italy in recent years. At the same time, the Authors emphasize the persisting, greater value of the critical and multidisciplinary approach typical of industrial relations for the analysis and regulation of the employment relations in contemporary societies, with respect to more unilateral and prescriptive approaches of other analytical perspectives such as those of some economists and of HRM, also in the light of the recent economic crisis. The Authors conclude, in agreement with their British colleagues, by stressing the fundamental contribution of industrial relations not only to the study and the practical regulation of the employment relations, but also to the building of the industrial citizenship, and through this way to the defence of the quality of democratic life.

AbstractIn the market economy, the financial system includes a set of specialized markets, where the demand of financial resources is faced with the supply, through specific mechanisms and within a framework regulated by the financial authorities. At the macroeconomic level, the major importance of the financial system lies in the fact that it ensures, through the markets that it consists of, the mobilization of the existing financial resources available in the economy at a given time and their transfer to various investment projects. In fact, the mission of the financial system is to finance the real economy. In a versatile economic environment, the financial system is often subjected to pressure factors, shocks that can affect its “well-being”. In this context, the authors, using specific scientific research methods, aimed to investigate and highlight certain main aspects of the methodological and pragmatic framework concerning the resilience of the national financial system to different pressure factors.

We tackle the theoretical implications of an emergent field of study, ubiquitous music (ubimus). Striving to place musical research within the wider field of creativity studies, this paper covers theoretical background and critical discussions of three music creativity models - a model proposed by Mannis (2014), the In-group, Out-group model (MDF - Ferraz and Keller 2014) and the ecologically grounded perspective (Keller and Lazzarini 2017). Data and on-site observations of creative activities provide the raw materials to test musical theories. Recent ubiquitous music research features multiple experimental initiatives, involving children (Pereira et al. in press), adolescents (Lima et al. 2012) or the elderly, and targeting trained musicians (Ferreira et al. 2015), novices (Miletto et al. 2011) and cognitively challenged adults. We chose three ubimus studies to exemplify empirical research that brings to light issues that have not been considered by some of the current theoretical approaches to musical creativity.
