Introduction. The article presents a model of educational media psychology. It is considered as a branch of educational psychology which focuses on processes of education and development within media environments. The research problem is determined by the controversy between new tasks of educational psychology associated with the transformation of the modern educational environment into a media environment and the lack of an integrated approach to fulfill them. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the new branch of educational psychology, to identify its problems, clarify its notions, and to describe its concepts and methodological foundations. Materials and Methods. The research employs methods of theoretical analysis and modeling. Results. The study suggests that educational media environment as an object of psychology is characterized by distinctive features which require systematic integration of disciplinary, methodological and instrumental approaches to research. At the disciplinary level, research investigations in the field of educational media psychology involve the integration of basic concepts of educational psychology and media psychology. At the interdisciplinary level, studies on educational media psychology deal with integration of approaches and methods of psychology, philosophy, linguistics, text theory, sociology and cultural studies, which are significant for conducting a psychological analysis of the media text as a mediator of educational processes. The study reveals the need for a multidisciplinary paradigm of integration of (1) activity theory, which is traditional for educational psychology, with ideas of discursive psychology, psychosemiotics, narrative psychology and psychoanalysis; (2) explanatory and complex approaches to the analysis of research objects; (3) quantitative and qualitative research methods. Conclusions. Educational media psychology is presented as an integrated model, which comprises objects and interconnected approaches (paradigmatic and disciplinary).

Inspired by Marshall McLuhan, pianist Glenn Gould dedicated his career to polemics against the concert hall tradition. Through radio/television broadcasts, written works and contentious recorded catalogue, Gould advocated adoption of the new electric media environment of the mid-twentieth century, challenging musical traditions of centuries past. Gould also used telephonic technology to mediate contact with the outside world. Gould has been acknowledged by such authors as Paul Théberge as putting into practice the ideas of Marshall McLuhan. In this study, I follow Robert Logan’s work in media ecology and general systems and investigate Gould’s polemics through systems theory. In particular, I employ Niklas Luhmann’s theory of social systems, offering a model of society through which we may observe the effects of electric technology via the notion of functional de-differentiation of social systems as discussed by authors such as Erkki Sevänen. I suggest that Gould’s polemics are not just commentary on musical tradition but the media environments in which those traditions arose and show how we too can find solace in sound.

Mobile advertising opportunities have attracted interest from industry and academics as a response to the trend of diffusion of new mobile technology. One industry particularly interested in new advertising opportunities is the newspaper industry. Many media houses envision a future multi-channel media environment supporting device independent, anytime, anywhere publishing, i.e. a Ubiquitous Media Environment (UME). In this chapter we explore how ubiquitous advertising challenges the role of media houses. Ubiquitous advertising refers to advertising in a UME, anytime, anywhere and in any device. Based on results from interviews and workshops with advertisers and publishers we discuss how media houses traditional role is challenged. We contribute with an understanding of how media houses can develop their role to succeed with ubiquitous advertising and to m-advertising literature with insights into the dynamics of balancing consumer and advertiser value of ubiquitous advertising.

Blending technologies play an important role in manufacturing. The design and operation of manufacturing processes using blending technologies represent a special range of manufacturing related logistics because the integrated approach of technological and logistic parameters is very significant. This research proposes an integrated model of supply of manufacturing processes using blending technologies. After a careful literature review, this paper introduces a mathematical model to formulate the problem of supply chain design for blending technologies. The integrated model includes the optimal purchasing strategy depending on the characteristics of components to be mixed in the desired proportion and the costs of supply. The integrated model will be described as a linear programming problem. Numerical results with different datasets demonstrate how the proposed model takes technological and logistic aspects into consideration.

In today’s high-choice media environments, newscasts increasingly compete for viewers against multiple entertainment options. This development has led to concerns over the demise of inadvertent news audiences, which is especially problematic for public service broadcasters who have an obligation to provide news to all segments of the population. However, this study demonstrates how entertainment shows can be used to create a favourable opportunity structure that generates substantial inadvertent news audiences. Using Danish TV meter data from 2008 to 2016, we show that scheduling the music talent show The X Factor before and after the newscast on the main public service channel increased news audiences dramatically. These ‘grab’ and ‘wrap’ effects of entertainment were particularly strong among young people and people with low news interest, and the effects became even stronger over time. Consequently, entertainment shows, indirectly, play a positive democratic role, by increasing the viewership of newscasts.

The education of teachers in Canada typically consists of a sequence of non-integrated and partially alternating phases: pre-service university-based course work, pre-service school-based practica, job-imbedded induction, professional development sessions. This article proposes an integrative approach to the education of teachers that links these different phases: Collaborative Professional Development Centres. The article draws on teacher education scholarship and research to articulate a number of assumptions about learning to teach and the purpose of teacher education, and then argues (a) that the traditional non-integrated approach to the education of teachers is incompatible with these assumptions, and (b) that these assumptions provide an excellent framework for the idea of Collaborative Professional Development Centres.

Sarajevo is the most important cultural and tourism center of Bosnia and Herzegovina (1/3 of the total national tourism). It hasvery valuable tourism motives (natural and anthropogenic). Statistical indicatorsshows a positive trend of tourism development during the last decade. It is therefore very important to analyze tourist motives and their importance for the development of tourism. Tourist motives are the main supply holders. The significance of a motive is determined by various criteria which in most cases involve the assessment of several elements: attractiveness, rarity, usefulness and accessibility. However, the tourism value of motives is largely reflected through impressions of tourists. Travel experience is especially important element of tourism which affects the affirmation of destinations in the world and encourages tourism trends. The research problem is the identification and evaluation (valorisation) models of motives in Sarajevo determining their significance. The research is quantitative and qualitative. Research methods are: general-theoretical (analysis and synthesis, comparing, classification);empiric (field work and observation, survey, measuring);identification, evaluation, Likert method. The aim of the paper is to determine the actual tourism value of the motives for better planning of tourism supply. Of particular importance are the results of tourist assessments of the motives because the ultimate goal is to achieve the satisfaction of tourists and positive echo of the destination in the world. Therefore motives such as Bascarsija, Tunnel of Hope, Springs of river Bosnia and Bijambare should take leadership role in Sarajevo tourism planning and development of tourism destination.

Therefore, the introduction of ICT in the professional activities of teachers in our time is inevitable. Information technologies open up new opportunities for improving the educational process, activate the cognitive activity of students and allow organizing the independent and joint work of students and teachers at a higher - creative level. With countless educational resources, ICT can help improve teaching and learning process. Teachers can use various of educational digital resources, among them, media resources contribute to increasing student engagement thus improving traditional teaching methods. The increasing use of ICT and digital technologies is stimulates a growing demand for new professional competencies. New requirements are being put forward for the professional competence of teachers in the context of the digitalization of the education system. In this context, it is about ICT, digital and media competencies of future teachers. This article reveals the methods for the development of these competencies through the organization of self-education of students in educational media environment. In educational media environment, which is offered by us, media resources introduced as open educational digital resources for self-learning modular short courses under the subject "Information Technologies in Education". The study showed that, media resources serve to enrich the educational process with visual materials and to increase the efficiency of student self-learning.

PurposeThe main components of resiliency, including resilience capacities, resilience activities and resilience measures, are identified, extracted and redefined by designing their ontologies. The integrated model is developed by adapting the PDCA (plan, do, check and act) model to resilience management and implementing the developed concepts in the model.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses systems theory to define the main concepts discussed in the literature on resilience. This study then uses systems engineering theory and a resource-based view of the firm to develop an integrated framework to demonstrate how a resilient firm operates.FindingsThe revised terminologies and the integrated model address the current theoretical issues in the literature, and they also provide a reference model for practical implementation of resilience management at the firm level. Also, the integrated model addresses the role of innovation in resilience management.Originality/valueThe study examines the concept of resilience form a quality perspective and also examines how resilience and innovation are related.
