Creative thinking skills are important for long-term success. Empowering creative thinking skills which can be trained through problem-solving activities in learning, thereby promoting high cognitive engagement. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of the research and development product of Problem-Based Learning module of environmental changes in empowering students’ creative thinking skills. The research method used was the Quasi-experiment with nonequivalent control group design. The sample of the research was the tenth-graders of a Senior High School in Karanganyar district, Central Java. The sampling was cluster sampling by involving two classes, namely the Grade X-MIA 1 with 28 students and the X-MIA 4 with 28 students. The qualitative and quantitative-descriptive approaches were used to analyze the data. The result shows the mean of creative thinking skills score of experiment group is higher than the control group. This developed module could empower students’ creative thinking skills by problem-solving activities as needed for Indonesian educational goal . The study concludes that development module was constructed based on Problem-based Learning activities in the module could stimulate students solved and identified the problems with their ideas and developed their creative thinking.

This study was aimed to determine the effect of problem based learning and group investigation on: (1) learning outcomes; and (2) creative thinking ability of student in class XI of SMAN 1 Muara Batu. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design. Samples were selected using random cluster sampling technique and divided into experimental and control classes. Class XI IPA3 was applied problem-based learning model,  class XI IPA1 was applied to the model group investigation, and class XI IPA2 was applied in the conventional learning (control). Multiple choices were used to measure learning outcomes, while tests of creative thinking skills in the form of essay questions. Data were analyzed using Analysis Covarian (Anacova) at significance level α = 0.05 and followed by Tukey's test with SPSS 21.0. The results showed that: (1) There was an effect of learning model to the learning outcomes of students (F = 14.183, P = 0.000). Students who were taught by problem-based learning model was significantly different from those of group investigation and conventional learning model; and (2) There was an effect of learning model to students creative thinking abilities (F = 12.030, P = 0.000). Students who were taught by problem-based learning model was not significantly different from the group investigation model but differed significantly with students who were taught by conventional learning model.

This research aims to study the feasibility of learning models, student activities, and the presence or absence of problem-based learning models on the creative thinking skills of grade VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Mlarak. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group design. This study uses PBL learning models assisted by audio visual media for the experimental class and conventional models for the control class. The instrument used was a written test consisting of descriptions, while the statistical analysis used the t test (independent sample test) and one tail test.

The Low Learning Thinking of students in learning Mathematics becomes a major problem in this research. This is caused by the learning model used which is incorrect and less varied. This study analyzed the influence of Problem Based Learning (PBL) models based on Catur Pramana on critical thinking skills with numerical ability control. This research was a quasi-experimental, with Posttest Only Control Group Design. The population in this study were all fifth-grade elementary schools with 177 students. The data collection method was done by using multiple-choice tests and essay tests. The data obtained were analyzed using the ANAKOVA test (covariance analysis) with the help of SPSS 20.0 for windows. The results of this study are significant results of the Problem Based Learning Model (PBL) based on Catur Pramana on critical thinking skills with Fcount 29,219 with sig; = 0,000 <0.05, there is a significant effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on Catur Pramana on mathematical thinking skills after obtaining numerical ability of students who obtain Fcount 9,398 with sig. = 0.004 <0.05; and are considered significant who have numerical ability to critical thinking skills of 35.05%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning Model based on Catur Pramana proves positive and there is a contribution of numerical ability to the critical thinking ability of Mathematics studentsl.

This study aimed to get an idea related to the development of cognitive abilities and creative thinking skills in problem solving student after being given treatment with CPS-based experimental learning and conventional learning. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental design with the randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample group of 58 high school students who are divided into two classes (class 29 experimental and 29 control group). The collected data was then analyzed using N-gain calculation, t-test, and the calculation of effect size. The result showed that the students' cognitive abilities for both classes equally increased by the moderate category. For the creative thinking skills of students in problem solving, experimental class increased by categories was increased while the control class with low category. Based on the test results show that the application of learning hypothesis-based experiments CPS can significantly improve the cognitive abilities and skills of creative thinking in solving problems of students compared to the application of conventional learning. In addition, based on the calculation of effect size indicates that the application of experiment-based learning CPS effective in improving cognitive ability and creative thinking skills in problem solving students with moderate category.Keywords: creative problem solving, experiment, cognitive abilityABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran terkait peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kreatif dalam pemecahan masalah siswa setelah diberikan perlakuan dengan pembelajaran CPS berbasis eksperimen dan pembelajaran kovensional. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain the randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 58 siswa SMA yang dibagi ke dalam dua kelas (29 kelas eksperimen dan 29 kelas kontrol). Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan perhitungan N-gain, Uji-t, dan perhitungan effect size. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan kognitif siswa untuk kedua kelas sama-sama mengalami peningkatan dengan kategori sedang. Untuk keterampilan berpikir kreatif dalam pemecahan masalah siswa, kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan dengan ketegori sedang sedangkan kelas kontrol meningkat dengan kategori rendah. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis  menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran CPS berbasis eksperimen secara signifikan dapat lebih meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kreatif dalam pemecahan masalah siswa dibanding penerapan pembelajaran konvensional. Selain itu, berdasarkan hasil perhitungan effect size menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran CPS berbasis eksperimen efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kreatif dalam pemecahan masalah siswa dengan kategori sedang.Kata kunci: creative problem solving, eksperimen, kemampuan kognitif

Problems in education have always been an essential issue in every country, including Indonesia. Almost all Indonesian students only master the lessons up to level 3 only. Meanwhile, many students from developed and developing countries have mastered lessons up to 4, 5, and even 6. The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences in High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) between the groups given the Trikaya Parisudha Learning Model (MPTP) and those given the Conventional Learning Model. (MPK). This research is a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The research population is PGSD students in 7 classes. From the 7 classes, 4 classes were selected using random cluster sampling two classes as the experimental group and the other two classes as the control group. MPTP taught the experimental group. Meanwhile, the control group was taught with MPK. The methods used to collect data are observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The instrument used to collect data is the observation sheet. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results showed differences in student HOTS between the group given MPTP and the group given MPK. There is a difference in Critical Thinking Skills between the group given MPTP and the group given MPK. There are differences in Creative Thinking Skills between the group receiving MPTP and the group receiving MPK. It can be concluded that the Trikaya Parisudha Learning Model can improve students' higher order thinking.

This study aimed to determine the effect of the problem based learning with cognitive conflict strategy towards mastery of concepts and critical thinking skills physics class XIth at SMKN 1 Lingsar academic year 2015/2016. Mastery of concepts measured on the cognitive domain of C1 through C6 (knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, evaluation and creation) and critical thinking skills measured by indicators of critical thinking. Type of research is a quasi-experimental research design pretest-posttest control group design. Sampling using random cluster sampling. Classroom study is a class XI TI  as an experimental class with 36 people and the number of students in class XI TI 2 as the control class with the number of students 36 people. The data will be analyzed using one way MANOVA.. The results showed that the model of problem-based learning with cognitive conflict strategiy affect the mastery of concepts and critical thinking skills physics class X SMKN 1 Lingsar.

ABSTRACTThis research is aimed to know the differences increase critical thinking skills through learning group and individual problem solving in thermochemical material. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design and study sample consisted of 103 students, divided into the first experimental (group problem solving) (35 students), the two group experimental (individual problem solving) (34 students). The collected through pretest-posttest. The analyzed with the Kruskal Wallis test, the results showed that the learning problem solving as a group or individually can improve students’ critical thinking skills. Statistical test there are significant differences in the students critical thinking skills thermochemical material between students who received group and individual problem solving. This study aim to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) models in mind map integration to creativity of problem solving in the environmental pollution concept of graders X. The method used is a Quasi-experimental design form Nonequivalent Control Group Design (pretest- posttest). The study population is all the students of graders X academic year 2017/2018 as many as 9 classes with the number of 360 students. The sample used was 80 students from two classes as an experimental class and a control class. Sampling was done by Cluster Random Sampling technique. Instruments used include test descriptions, questionnaires and teacher observation sheets. The results of the analysis of the test descriptions creativity in problem solving obtained results of hypothesis testing (t test) i.e. 20.5 t count > t table of 2.66 means that Ho refused and Hi accepted, it means PBL learning models in Mind Map integration effect on creativity in problems solving. This is indicated by an increase in the average score on each indicator of creativity in problem solving in which students are able to grow various ideas, enrich ideas, add or detail the details of an idea and determine the truth to solve the problems. From the analysis of questionnaire data showed an interest in learning to use the PBL modela in Mind map integration, students agreed that if the model of PBL in Mind map integration may be easier to learn about the concept of Environmental Pollution. In addition, students also agreed that if the PBL models in Mind map integration effect on creativity in problems solving. The results showed that there was a significant influence between learning using PBL models in Mind map integration those not using the learning models to creativity in problems solving in the concept of environmental pollution of graders X.

This research aims to describe and analyze result of applying Problem-Based Learning and Cognitive Conflict Strategy (PBLCCS) in increasing students’ Mathematical Critical Thinking (MCT) ability and Mathematical Curiosity Attitude (MCA). Adopting a quasi-experimental method with pretest-posttest control group design and using mixed method with sequential explanatory strategy, the study involves undergraduate students of Mathematics Education Program at a private university in Riau, Indonesia, academic year 2015/2016 enrolled in Number Theory course. Quantitative data were obtained from essay test and questionnaire whereas qualitative data were from interview and observation. The findings show that; (1) there is a difference between MCT ability taught by PBLCCS and Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI), (2) there is no significant difference between MCA taught by PBLCCS and EDI, (3) students still face obstacles in developing their critical thinking skills when solving matematical problems.

The aim of this study was to determine the influence of Project Based Learning on creative thinking skills of student on colloid concept. The method used in this study was quasi experiment with non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study was second semester students of SMAN 5 in Bekasi of Academic Years 2014/2015. Samples are class XI MIA-4 as the experimental class (given treatment by project-based learning model), and class MIA XI-2 as the control class (given treatment by lecture method). Data collection techniques were gained through an essay test instrument. Data value of the average pretest-posttest control group and experimental group were analyzed using t-test. The average of pretest score for control class is 19.89 and experiment class is 18.11, while the average of postest score of control class is 24.5 and experimental class is 29.35. The t-test result showed that tcount (7.35) was greater than ttable (2.0049) with significance level 5%, so the research hypothesis which states that there are significant influence of project-based learning to the creative thinking skills of students on colloid concept are accepted. In order to obtain the greatest number of information about creative thinking skills, when implemented project based learning must consider several things, that are: time management, formulation of the problem, step of project work, and assessment systems should be informed to the students in a clear and focused so that students can understand and have a passion in running the project.  Keywords: Project Based Learning, Creative Thinking, Colloid.
