In the literature, the subject of unlearning is discussed less than organisational learning and learning organisation. Thinking the dynamics of today’s economy and the business world, having an unlearning ability is especially important for firms that focus on innovation and sustainable development. This research aims to explore the process of unlearning in an innovative company with a high capability of R&D, to determine the type of unlearning and its antecedents affecting the unlearning process, and also to find the positive outcomes of unlearning for the company and to establish a model as a result of these findings. In line with the purpose of the research, this investigation was undertaken by using the case study method and doing semi-structured interviews with company officials in an R&D company that offers advanced technological products and services to the defence, environment and energy industries in Turkey. According to the research findings, it is seen that company A can unlearn and the processes related to unlearning. When the findings obtained in terms of the unlearning process and its sub-dimensions are combined, it is noteworthy that the company sees unlearning at the centre of development and improvement. A model was proposed through the findings.

This paper presents research approaches for investigating the development of university libraries into learning organisations, using Thailand as a case study. Whilst the concept of the learning organisation has been in existence since 1970s, it remains problematic. Current debate centres on the lack of an agreed definition of the concept coupled with difficulties in implementing and measuring the extent to which organisations become transformed into learning organisations. These three main strands of debate are examined holistically in the study. Several studies employ a positivist perspective. This research adopts an interpretivist perspective to investigate the issues, given the need to investigate the extent of a shared understanding of the concept within university libraries, together with management practices, problems and a rationale for the development of learning organisations. This is a qualitative study, employing document analysis, semi-structured interviews, and observation. Triangulation was used to corroborate data derived from the multiple methods and increase validity and credibility of the research findings.

This research aims to determine the technologies that pre-service science teachers prefer to use in micro teaching presentations performed for improving their teaching skills and to determine the purposes of using these technologies. For this purpose, the case study model was used in the research. The research was made with some 48 pre-service science teachers. In the research, data was collected from the presentation files the pre-service science teachers had prepared with respect to the microteaching applications, from the instructor’s observation notes on their presentations, from the view form and from the semi-structured interviews. According to the findings obtained from the research, the pre-service science teachers used computers, projection apparatuses, overhead projectors, videos, animations, simulations and microscopes the most in the microteaching applications. The pre-service science teacher’s expressed that they used technology primarily for reasons such as enhancing the comprehensibility of the subject, concretizing abstract subjects, ensuring visuality and saving time. Considering these results, some recommendations were made regarding the use of technology in science courses.

The emerging of digital technology not only encourages the development of new tools but also changes traditional approaches to solving emerging problems. The sound, music, art, colors, etc. that prevailed in the 20th-century forms of therapy are being replaced by integrated systems that overcome many of these forms, thanks to digital technology. With the increasing number of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the world, such systems provide new opportunities for the treatment of these disorders. In this research, the creation of such a system has been chosen as the object of work. The article presents an interactive tool for the education of children with ASD created by audio, video, and computer technologies and assesses its potential impact. The experimental research and its results are presented. This study aims to evaluate an interactive instrument developed for the education of such children. Following the objectives of ensuring the interactivity of the process, provoking all the perceptions of the subject, and developing the subject's ability to respond to the environment, a personalized audiovisual environment was created. For interactivity, the virtual program EyeCon, Webcam and camcorders, video projector, and speaker system were used. The study was conducted with one subject and a case study method was used. The impact of the instrument was established based on a survey of the parents of the child and the findings of childcare experts. The results of the study demonstrated the positive benefits for this child such as increased eye-to-hand coordination, concentration duration, improved communication, and emotional expression. The results obtained show that such interactive multi-sensory environments in special and general education schools can be a supplemental tool for traditional methods.

The employer branding (EB) phenomenon has garnered the attention of practitioners and academicians over the past decade. However, the subjective experiences of managers on EB are hardly tapped. This study explores company executives’ views on EB through the case study method with semi-structured interviews in the context of the business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) companies located in India. Four key categories relevant to EB emerged from the data. These are (a) essence of a successful EB, (b) precursors of EB, (c) visibility of the employer and (d) outcomes of EB. Attributes of these categories were explored along the sub-themes, which reveal the respondents’ perceptions regarding their implementation of EB strategy. These attributes were similar in B2B and B2C companies.

Purpose The dominant-view within servitization literature presupposes a progressive transition from product to service orientation. In reality, however, many manufacturing firms maintain both product and service orientations throughout their servitization journey. Using the theoretical lens of organizational ambivalence, the purpose of this paper is to explore the triggers, manifestation and consequences of these conflicting orientations. Design/methodology/approach A multiple case study method was used to analyze five large manufacturing firms that were engaged in servitization. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 35 respondents across different functions within these firms. Findings Servitizing firms experience organizational ambivalence during servitization because of co-existing product and service orientations. This paper provides a framework that identifies the triggers of this ambivalence, its multi-level manifestation and its consequences. These provide implications for explaining why firms struggle to implement servitization strategies due to co-existing product and services orientations. Understanding organizational ambivalence, provides opportunity to manage related challenges and can be vital to successful servitization. Originality/value Considering the theoretical concept of ambivalence could advance the understanding of the effects and implications of conflicting orientations during servitization in manufacturing firms.

The study examines the relationships among entrepreneurial orientation, market orientation and networking on firm performance with radical and incremental innovation as the mediator. The present study draws on the resource-based view theory to provide insights about intangible resources and capabilities among SMEs. The study adopts a subjectivist approach and is based on multiple case study method by conducting interviews with 7 SMEs purposively operating in different sectors. The research findings seem to support both proactive and responsive market orientation (PMO, RMO), entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and networking have positive relationships on firm performance with radical and incremental innovation as the mediator. It appears firms initiating radical innovation take longer for new product performance because of lack of information about customer needs in the market but networking assists in providing market information that enables commercialization of new products. Further, networking among firms drives performance while strong ties are practiced to a lesser extent.
