Overweight and obesity has threatened the modern world not only in developed countries but equally in developing countries like Nepal. The study therefore aimed to assess the risk factors associated with overweight and obesity among reproductive aged women residing in Rajbiraj Municipality. A cross-sectional descriptive study was done on reproductive aged females (15-49 years) using a structured questionnaire. Weight, height, waist circumference and hip circumference were measured to determine indicators related to overweight and obesity. The anthropometric measurements were then analysed using WHO and IDF criteria. Microsoft excel 2007 and SPSS version 20 were used to analyze data. Chi square test was used to analyze the factors associated with BMI, WC and WHR cut-offs. The results showed a high prevalence of overweight and obesity in reproductive aged females residing in Rajbiraj. Hence, concerned agencies should launch appropriate programs to combat the factors.

Abstract Background In recent years, research on health literacy has become increasingly focused on the health care system and public health. This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate health literacy and analyse the risk factors that affect health literacy in Wuhan, China. Methods Multistage stratified random sampling was used to select 5304 urban and rural residents aged 15 to 69 years from 204 monitoring points in 15 districts of Wuhan. Using the Chinese Citizen Health Literacy Questionnaire (HLQ) (2018 edition), a face-to-face survey was conducted from November to December 2018. Risk factors that may affect health literacy were assessed using the Chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression models. Results The knowledge rate of health literacy was relatively low (19.3%). The knowledge rate of health-related behaviour and lifestyle (BAL, 17.3%) was the lowest of the three aspects of health literacy, and the knowledge rate of chronic diseases (CD, 19.0%) was the lowest of the six dimensions of health literacy. Respondents who lived in urban areas, had higher education levels, worked as medical staff, had a higher household income and did not suffer from chronic diseases were likely to have higher health literacy. Conclusions The health literacy levels of citizens in Wuhan are insufficient and need to improve.

Background: Obesity in adolescents has become health problem in Indonesia. Central obesity is associated with insulin resistance.Theoretically, insulin resistance will cause impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and could develop into type 2 diabetes. Objective: The aim of this study were to evaluate the difference in IGT prevalence between central and non central obesity and to identify the risk factors associated with IGT. Method: A cross sectional study was conducted at 3 private secondary schools in Yogyakarta and recruited 62 obese female students aged 12-18 years. The subjects were classified into central obesity (BMI/U> +2SD and waist circumference > p90) and non central obesity based on anthropometric data. Fasting glucose and 2 hours after loading were measured in all subjects. Differences in the proportion of IGT between the two groups was calculated by Chi-square test and risk factors associated with IGT were calculated by multivariate logistic regression with 95% confidence interval.Result: Of 62 subjects, 14 of them have IGT and the prevalence of IGT was significantly higher in the central obesity group compared to non central obesity group (11/31 vs 3/31, p=0.03). Central obesity was found to be the only risk factor of IGT (OR=4.6; 95%CI: 1.04 to 20.24). Twenty one of the subjects were found to have impaired fasting glucose (IFG) (34%) and one subject (1.6 %) had IFG+IGT. There were no differences in the proportion of IFG between central and non central obesity groups. Conclusion: The prevalence of IGT in female students with central obesity was higher compared to those with non central obesity. A female student with central obesity had 4.6-fold risk of having IGT compared to those with non central obesity.

Abstract: Obesity is now a global problem. The prevalence is increasing not only in developed countries but also in developing countries. Currently, obesity in children is still a complex issue. The cause is multifactorial, making it hard for the implementation. The increasing of overweight and obesity in children around the world participate to boost the prevalence of hypertension in children. Observing the heredity aspect of hypertension, emerging understanding that hypertension in adults are from children. Therefore, efforts to reduce the prevalence of overweight and obesity will decrease the prevalence of hypertension in children indirectly. Objective: To determine the relationship of obesity with blood pressure in children aged 10-12 years. Methodology: This study was observational analytic cross sectional design. Results: There were 111 children as the subjects of study that meets the inclusion criteria which have been measured. Consisted of 57 girls and 54 boys. Of 111 obese children are 31 children with normal blood pressure, 55 children with high-normal blood pressure and 25 children with high blood pressure, there is a significant relationship with the Chi-Square Test (p = 0.007). Conclusion: There is a relationship between obesity and blood pressure appearance in children aged 10-12 years. Keywords: blood Pressure, hypertension, obesity.

Purpose: In Canada, the incidence of childhood obesity has tripled within the past 20 years. The prevalence of obesity in the Timmins, Ontario, student population was studied to gain knowledge for program planning and resource allocation, and to compare Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) criteria with Cole’s international criteria for childhood obesity. Methods: Anthropometric measurements of 801 students were taken. Students were chosen from randomly selected schools for each grade. Data were analyzed according to age, gender, and ethnicity. Data were also compared with other studies. Intragroup comparisons were performed using hypothesis testing for significance with the z table and chi-square test. Results: Overweight and obesity prevalence was 28% according to CDC criteria. No statistical difference was found between genders or among ethnic groups, or between this study and other Canadian studies. In comparison with the CDC criteria, Cole’s international criteria indicated less obesity and increased overweight prevalence. These differences were not statistically significant. Conclusions: The findings suggest that in the northern Ontario community of Timmins, the prevalence of childhood obesity is of epidemic proportions. When the findings are shared with different agencies, this study will help the health unit to take necessary public health measures to curb the epidemic.
