Supernumerary nipples (accessory nipples or polythelia) are classified as minor developmental anomalies. Their incidence, as reported in different ethnic groups, varies from 0.22% to 5%.1,2 Various malformations associated with supernumerary nipples have been described in individual cases.2,3 Recently, attention was drawn to a high incidence of renal abnormalities in children with supernumerary nipples. Mehes1,4 initially evaluated 20 Hungarian children and then an additional 37 Hungarian children with supernumerary nipples and discovered urinary tract abnormalities in 15 (40%) and nine children (27%), respectively. On the other hand, Rahbar,5 using clinical criteria and urine findings, was not able to identify renal or other malformations in 22 American black neonates with supernumerary nipples.

The introduction of autovenous coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) marked the era of surgical revascularization in patients with coronary artery disease. It provided effective treatment for angina and significantly improved the long-term prognosis. Venous transplants today remain the most popular conduits in coronary surgery due to their availability, ease of harvesting, and the absence of length restrictions. Despite the advantages of autovenous CABG, the main disadvantage is the high incidence of venous graft failure, which represents an important and unresolved problem in cardiac and cardiovascular surgery. On the other hand, the traditional allocation of a large saphenous vein implies the dissection of soft tissues throughout the length of the isolated conduit. Traumatic dissection causes a long-lasting persistent pain syndrome after surgery, frequent abnormalities in  skin sensitivity, and a high incidence of wound complications in the lower extremities. These complications lengthen the period of rehabilitation of patients and worsen the quality of life. There is an approach of isolating the vein in a block with surrounding tissues to optimize the long-term functioning of the venous shunt, however, this technique is even more traumatic than the traditional method, and therefore its use is limited in practice. On the other hand, the introduction of minimally invasive methods of isolation allowed to reduce the incidence of wound complications and to improve the cosmetic result, but there is no convincing data regarding the effect on the consistency of shunts in the long-term postoperative period. The problems associated with the use of venous conduits in CABG are multifaceted, and their solutions are necessary to improve the effectiveness of surgical revascularization.

There is no doubt to the fact that globalization has become a buzz word of our time and has significantly impacted the whole world and Africa without exception. Despite it being a buzz word, it has also become very confusing. Some people when asked to specify how they understand it, reply with considerable hesitation, vagueness and inconsistency. However, whether one understands it or not, the fact remains that globalization is real and it is impossible to avoid it, but we have to act. In recent decades globalization has become a factor that obstructs nation-building process in the developing world and Africa in particular. Increasing inequalities between social classes, ethnic groups, regions and nations are on the rise while nations are becoming more powerless to solve these problems. On the other hand, globalization will represent a golden opportunity for nation-building process, if Africa manages to grab the opportunities presented.

Cnidoscolus aconitifolius has been long used by ethnic groups in Indonesia for vegetables and traditional medicine. This study aims to explain the benefits of C. aconitifolius for food and its bioactivity. The method for writing is library research on scientific articles published online at Google Scholar by using the keywords: uses of C. aconitifolius and bioactivity of C. aconitifolius. All available articles were synthesized to provide comprehensive information on C. aconitifolius for food and its bioactivity. C. aconitifolius has two to three times more nutrients than spinach, spinach, Chinese cabbage, and lettuce. Cnidoscolus aconitifolius bioactivity includes antimicrobial, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antihypercholetrol, analgesic, antianemia, and kidney protection. Cnidoscolus aconitifolius leaves contain macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals so that they have the potential to be developed for cheap and easily available food. On the other hand, C. aconitifolius also contains anti-nutrients such as phytate and oxalate but with proper processing the antinutrients will be degraded.

Lampung Province is a reflection of multicultural region in Indonesia. Multiculturalism in the region is related to the openness of the community in accepting the presence of other ethnic groups in the region. The principle of openness is contained in the values of the piil pesenggiri as as a part of their culture. But on the other hand, the piil pesenggiri was also often claimed as a cause of conflict involving frequently Lampungnese. This situation ilustrated the existence of paradoxes of perspective in understanding the piil pesenggiri as Lampung people's identity. The research employs a qualitative approach with interview and observation data collection techniques. The research purposes is to obtain findings to refute the claims of the piil pesenggiri as trigger of frequent conflict in Lampung. The results of the study demonstrates the facts contradicting the claims. The piil pesenggiri as identity actually was even able to create harmony with other ethnic groups. In the case of the Lampungnese community in Way Kanan, through the political mechanism of organizing identity (politics of identitiy), the Lampungnese community was able to strengthen the identity of the piil pesenggiri while at the same time being able to create harmony in the community.

Reproductive and urinary tract abnormalities are a cause of infertility, reproductive inefficiency, and economic losses in goats. The aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence and nature of reproductive and urinary tract abnormalities encountered in female goats slaughtered at Nyagatare abattoir in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. Reproductive and urinary organs from 369 female goat carcasses were opened by incision and then given a thorough macroscopic examination by visually inspecting and palpating for evidence of abnormalities. The results showed that there was an overall occurrence of 7.8% reproductive organ/tract abnormalities and 10.6% urinary organ/tract abnormalities. Ovarian hypoplasia was the reproductive abnormality with the highest overall occurrence (32.3%) and renal calculi were the urinary organ abnormality with the highest occurrence (38.1%). 95.2% of the reproductive organ/tract abnormalities observed usually result in infertility and 91.3% of the urinary organ/tract abnormalities observed result in economic losses through condemnation of kidneys at slaughter. The high incidence of the observed urinary organ/tract abnormalities represents a potential public health challenge. There was no significant difference in the occurrence of reproductive organ/tract abnormalities according to breed (p>0.05, n=31). There was also no significant difference in the occurrence of urinary organ abnormalities according to breed (p>0.05, n=42).

According to the ‘French Republican integration pattern’ – based on the principle of colour-blind universality – naming people using ethnic or racial references is illegal in the administration’s documentation as well as in the census. Yet, aspects of the colonial rights system were adopted into the French Republican ideology, thereby constituting a very specific relationship between nationality and citizenship in the administrative management of colonial natives on French mainland soil. This paper reveals the ambiguities of the Republican ideas when they were implemented by street-level administrators within Lyon’s metropolitan area (1950–1970). Examining the administration’s documentation in the Archives of the Rhône Department (ARD), this paper demonstrates how the Ministry of the Interior took leadership in the welfare sector, especially in housing and urban policies. Its role and work built upon the roots of institutionalized racism which accompanied the settlement of Algerian populations in France, even after Algeria’s independence (1962). By institutionalizing racial treatment, the successive administrations in charge of housing and urban policies within the Lyon metropolitan area have contributed to the legitimization of an ideology of segregation based on opposing aims: on the one hand, the mixing and coexistence of different cultural and ethnic groups, and on the other hand, the adherence to a supposed ‘tolerability threshold’ using arbitrarily developed quotas for the settlement of Algerians.

In the dynamics of the lower urinary tract, further knowledge has been gained above all concerning distribution and characterization of the adrenoceptors. Moreover recent results of both experimental and clinical research have focused attention on the role of the peripheral adrenoceptors in seminal ejaculation and related disorders. On the other hand, norepinephrine has been accepted as the principal neurotransmitter in the control of penile detumescence and flaccidity. The rationale of applying such knowledge to minctional, erective and ejaculative disorders is discussed on the basis of a literature review as well as of our own studies on the topic.
